Very long wait for pizza and when we got it it was extremely burnt so we sent it back. When I paid I asked if the pizza had been taken off, to which he said yes, only to find out it hadn’t been. Cocktails were good and the place had a nice atmosphere but staff are disorganised. A little disappointed seeing as we’ve been wanting to try this place for a while.

We went here on Friday night, 15 of us in total for a friends birthday. I had previously been a few weeks ago with my husband and thought it would be perfect for a group of us to go to and I wasn't wrong. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and charming and treated us like old friends. I had the Chateaubriand and it was beautiful, perfectly cooked and very tasty, ive not had better for many years! All of us enjoyed the food and desserts which were exceptional. We had many cocktails and the manager, Robert, treated us to a free bottle of bubbly and a round of shots for the birthday boy which was very kind and made us feel extra special and made our night! The music afterwards was great and I am now a personal fan of DJ Paulo and will definitely be following his live stream 🙂 I would definitely recommend this place for any type of gathering. The atmosphere was fab and fun all night, the staff were happy and attentive with and on the ball and the food and drink were amazing! We will defo be back again!

I love(D) powderkeg, it use to be fantastic about three months ago; the staff, the quality, the cleanliness but unfortunately I went away and have returned to find they have had a huge plummet in the business. Firstly the staff have changed, looking bored and miserable, quite frankly look like they are there just for the money, there is a new manager I believe who was complaining and swearing... ALOT. My favourite waiter has been let go, this waiter was no ordinary waiter; his name was Oscar and he remembered my drink order for everytime I came into powderkeg, along with caring about my personal life. He was part of the life at powderkeg, along with the past General manager Kai, who was the soul and party. Unfortunately the standard of food has dropped massively as well, going from succulent pork croquettes to Sainsbury’s camembert. To finalise I’d like to recommend NOT going to powderkeg again, unless you enjoy a rude, abrupt, and aggressive person running the company. Many thanks I’d recommend school house, on the same road. Fantastic service and quality of food

Went with group of 6. Sat on room at the back which is bright and airy and in fairness very nice. Now this where it is going down. We had two waitresses, one very nice, one with a very big ego problem and rude (like bring you the wrong wine, you don’t spot it as she has slammed the bottle on the table and clearly not served the wine - maybe best working outside of hospitality?). Main courses took 50mins to arrive (chef was on his own? We ordered 5 steaks ?) . I ordered ribeye and I wonder if it went in the fryer . Over cooked, not chargrilled. Honestly worst steak I have had in a while. May be bad night but would avoid. Got to remove service charge of 12.5 pct obviously.

I was shocked by the bartender's rude and wasteful attitude. I went to the bar to order 2 drinks. I made sure to order a SINGLE gin&tonic; and a beer. The bartender heard my order and began making my drinks. He made the gin&tonic; with the pink fever tree tonic that I had asked for and then went to ring it up before pouring the beer. I saw that he had rung it up as a double because the price was about £9. I interrupted at this point and reminded him that I'd asked for a single. He looked at me, picked up the drink and aggressively threw it down the drain and said "you could have reminded me while I was pouring it". So instead of apologising for his mistake, and charging me for a single even though he had poured a double, he chose to WASTE the double shot and the bottle of tonic and pour another single gin&tonic;, wasting 2 shots of gin and a bottle of tonic instead of just losing out on 1 shot of gin because of his mistake. I wish I had said more at the time but I was a bit too shocked. It's a beautiful pub , amazing atmosphere, but this experience definitely tarnished my view.

No recomendaría y no volvería.

Went to the bar to ask about our reserved table and the happy female staff member sprang into action to show us to our table and made sure we were okay and even put water and glasses on the table (which I thought was a nice touch!) It is a great place, but £6 a pint is just a bit too expensive given there are other, cheaper places on St Johns Hill.

In the 32 years of being alive, I've never enjoyed a meal as much as I have at the Powder keg. This is now The place to eat and drink for my girlfriend and I. The atmosphere was great, the staff was amazing (especially Oscar with his sass and banter. His personality made it fun) and the food was on a whole another level. I had the pork belly roast and it was hands down the best pork belly I've ever had and all the veg were done to perfection. However this was nothing compared to dessert. I ordered the freshly baked chocolate cookie with the pistachio Ice cream and generously let my gf have some... It was the tastiest, most amazing pudding I've ever had in my life. On arrival we were greeted with smiles and all admired the face lift the place has had since our last visit a couple of years ago. Bright and airy in the conservatory at the back. The service was very friendly but totally disorganized. We waited ages for drinks, 3 of which had to go back as the coke was flat... Then a further 20 minutes for the drinks to be replaced. Once food arrived the requested condiments came one at a time taking 15 minutes to have all arrived. The place wasn't heaving with customers, maybe there just wasn't enough staff? The Spanish omelet was dried out and pretty tasteless but everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Both roasts went down a treat but be warned...the beef was extremely rare.

Went for dinner last night, intreagued to see what was on offer as the website wasn't showing the new menu & it's now a series of small plates of varying sizes & prices with no explanation of whether they're starter or main & how to put them together. Our waitress was perfectly nice but not forthcoming with details. The food was nice enough & interesting flavours but the portion sizes were odd. I had one dish which was bavette, described by the waitress as "old cow", so I presumed it would be slow cooked - it was tough & chewy & pan fried! Such a shame.

Powder Keg has dropped the Diplomacy from its title and has also paired down its menu. Gone are the partridge and grouse dinners and even eggs and corn beef hash lunches. Instead these have been replaced by Spanish charcuterie and croquettes, burrata and focaccia, octopus and beans. The rather quaint interior with fusty knick knacks remain including the heavy ancient telephone receiver lying next to our table which only needed a lobster on top to resemble a Dali painting. We began our lunch with flatbread divided into quarters with an onion marmalade on top. Chorizo cane in thick rectangular chunks. Croquettes were huge rice balls mixed with squid ink and mayonnaise. The piece de resistance, however, was a Tomahawk pork steak essentially a huge chip with charred rind served with a Marie rose coloured sauce. My daughter had a mini burger with chips. I enjoyed a bottled Bristol saison stout. We avoided the two desserts for espressos.

Both were fine, although they arrived suspiciously quickly, and the portions weren't generous: The beef came with white bean mash and the hake with Cornish mids (new potatoes), but felt it necessary to order an additional side of triple cooked chips (the chips were very good, the best thing we ate). For £74 including 3 drinks we felt a bit short changed, and although they did nothing wrong as such, and the service was fine, this isn't somewhere I'm likely to return to.

Booked a table for Thursday 8th June. It looked quite a decent place on the website for a business meeting over dinner.Don't be fooled. The place was packed and extremely noisy, the two of us had to shout at each other to make ourselves heard. To be honest, I was extremely disappointed with the place, the food was ok and the wine good (but expensive). We didn't even stop to finish the bottle as the noise level inside was making my head hurt. I feel that it is rather misrepresented by the website, cosy candlelit venue for a meal and good conversation it most certainly is not.

Typically I don't look for extremely fancy places, just really good food and drink with a staff that makes you feel welcome. Well, last night I found my new favorite place in London. The manager immediately made us feel welcome by moving our table of four up front to a booth instead of the room in back, and then the rest of the night made us feel looked after in a warm, funny way.The place looks out over the street and was just the right level of busy -- not too loud but still full of energy. The manager recommended some great local beers and we ended up all loving the pale ale he suggested. Finally, holy CRAP was the food good. One mate got the cod, which she really liked, and another got the brisket, which he adored, but I got the gnocchi and oh god, it was amazing. Like no gnocchi I've ever had, it was mixed with mushrooms and other odds and ends and simply tasted incredible. In short, great place, can't wait to go back.

This is the second time I've visited in a couple of months for dinner with friends. I was hesitant to return as the first time was in my opinion average food with overinflated prices. Unfortunately tonight continued to disappoint. The service is great and I can't fault, my issue is with the food. The brisket was dry and inedible, and at £17.50 would expect far better quality. The wine was ok but the choice was incredibly limited. The overall bill for 2 courses and a few drinks came in at £80 per head. I will happily pay for good food, but this was verging on Michelin starred costs at fairly average standards. Perhaps I've been out of London too long, but I feel totally ripped off.

Randomly wandered past here and saw the set Sunday lunch menu 2 courses for £24, immediately went in and made s reservation for a couple of hours later. When we arrived we had the choice of sitting in the quirky bar area at the front or the vintage-esque conservatoire at the back. Being a sunny day we opted for the brighter space of the conservatory. We ate lunch quite early, about 12.30, so there were only a couple of other tables finishing brunch ( also looked amazing - will definitely be going back for brunch soon). We booked this for a birthday dinner for 4 people. Restaurant was not previously known and was researched by my partner on line. STarted off badly as the English champagne which was advertised on line had not been available for some time apparently. We were offered prosecco at a ridiculous price (£32) and later settled on paying £60 for a not particularly good French champagne. The rest of the wine list was similarly expensive. We had two further bottles of white and a bottle of sparkling water and two cocktails. The menu selection itself was quite limited and we were initially disappointed as it was, again, not the same as on the website. However, we did all find something to eat -- and that was when things came together. All of the food was extremely good (with the possible exception of the steak (£8 supplement) which one of our guests left some) and portions were extremely large. The restaurant was in the back and was extremely quiet -- but the front (the bar area) was busy.I'm not sure that we would go back again as we begrudged paying the very high cost for the wine and champagne -- but we must compliment the chef on the food.

This place really took us by surprise. Fine dining that doesn't break the bank. Our waiter was really helpful with recommendations and attentive. Service at times was a tiny bit slow but it really can't be faulted. Highly recommend for a cheeky cocktail and good grub.

We had a table on a Saturday night at 7.45pm. The service was quick! On the whole the food was excellent. Lots of nice IPA beers. I had a cocktail (Old Fashioned) and that was great!Only 2 downsides as far as we could see - acoustics are not good. So if you're hard of hearing this is not the place for you. Secondly - I think they've tried to cram too many tables in. My husband was bumped by waiting staff about 5 - 6 times throughout the meal.

We were a group of twelve dining here for a family member's 21st birthday. I did not liaise with staff prior to the meal so am not sure how they handled everything but I felt they really looked after us for our special dinner on the night and this was much appreciated. They were attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being over the top.The food was good although I would have preferred less heavy options. No allergy information was given and although I mentioned I was wheat and dairy free I know there was butter in one of the dishes but as I am still alive while writing this review, obviously this wasn't so much of a problem. (If I stop mid sentence, you'll know I spoke too soon!) They also made a special apple cake (birthday boy's favourite) which apparently was delicious.I wasn't paying the bill but know that this wouldn't have been cheap. As to whether I would return here, well if I lived nearby and wanted a special occasion then I probably would go back but I wouldn't make a trip otherwise. It was a nice, romantic venue and didn't suffer from overly loud background music but perhaps it was a little different being a Monday night. All I would say is that if they are going to cater for a big party they need to buy some larger tables as many of us had to do some extraordinary yoga to get into our seats and those up against the wall banged their heads every time they moved. This definitely needs to be addressed as after a glass or two of wine this could have disastrous consequences! But thanks, PKD, for making our celebration special.

When the PKD opened a few years ago it felt unique, clever and had a great individuality to it. After going back this weekend for the first time in a while, I feel it's really resting on it's reputation with the fact it's so niche and somewhat exploiting that. After the veneers worn off it's still a good place to be, but the problem being it's way over priced. As a case in point I thought when it first opened it's selling point was a great selection of beer, what they had this weekend was bang average and that's when the price becomes a problem. When they rave about their beer selection, and at £6 a pint plus a service charge, you expect a decent bitter dry 'pilsner' for example that tastes like it's been picked straight out a Bavarian cellar. Instead the Lost Rivers Brewery 'pilsner' I had tasted like a macro brew lager with a bunch of hops left soaking in water overnight. The fact it comes from down the road I don't care about and doesn't warrant a stupid price tag. The same goes for charging silly money for other local brews, such as from the Brixton Brewery, so what? The kitch brewery location doesn't make the beer quality and unique. The place still has a great look but is feeling a bit worn, and not looked after in places. The barman and their clothing in the PKD theme has definitively slid a bit and look scruffier, and again that's fine but not when you are pricing yourself a cut above elsewhere and selling yourself on a branded theme. Behind the first impressions it's not quite as sharp as it used to be, I now know I can't go here for a great pint and what feels like a timewarp. The food was good, but when you look at the bill and you could have gone to a Koffman's in Knightsbridge for the same price you know somethings amiss, overall I know I won't be going back just for the look and feel of the PKD.

This has to be my favourite bar! Its interior is beautiful yet quirky and its drinks are delicious, unique and clearly made with care, attention and love. My personal favourite has to be the Bloody Mary (best in London). To top it off, the staff are lovely, friendly and attentive. Thank you Powder Keg Diplomacy!

From where shall i start? A romantic atmosphere, helpful staff, vintage decoration. You feel like home.. We search for a good place in area for drink. We came here and order a cocktail beer. We asked for the menu and we decided that we are going to make reservation They treat us really good. When we came back doe dinner they put us on a table in a beautiful corner with the stunning decoration. And then the food begin. Oh my God what starters, tasteful scallops and king prawns, simple and nice chicken fillet and great mushroom risotto. And last the dessert mmmm what to say about? Just visit this place. Really worth it :)

Nice busy atmosphere. Good layout with booth type tables and plenty of seating. Wine even more overpriced than you'd expect in a Clapham bar. Generally has the feeling of thinking it's a bit better than it is but that's pretty standard for Clapham. Might go back if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way.

We ate at Powderkeg Diplomacy for a special Sunday lunch this week and it was fantastic. Opened early especially for us (we were early for the booking), very attentive service from the start and a delicious well-portioned roast lamb and beef too. The drinks were a little expensive I thought but this was a minor point - we'll definitely be back. A lot

Went to powder keg for drinks in the evening with a good friend the last Saturday in october. We didn't book a table or anything but when we arrived we were immediately welcomed and shown to a table. The drinks menu is extensive. The waiters were really nice and friendly. Didn't mind at all when we asked to be moved to a sofa when one became available. Buzzing atmosphere although it wasn't overly busy. Thought we would try it after reading good reviews online and we were pleased with our choice. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but the drinks and service was spot on. Thank you for looking after us.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat when I worked in Clapham and thus I wanted to visit this week. The online booking system wasn't working for days (probably still isn't) and I had no response to my email or voicemail requesting a reservation. I tried to call numerous times but just received voicemail. Perhaps they have closed temporarily but there is nothing online??

I'd booked a table here for my parents 45th wedding anniversary weekend and my mother's birthday - they called me quite late in the evening on the Thursday to say that they were spring cleaning their oven (in November) and wont be serving any food on Saturday night. They did try and get us a table at another restaurant and offered us a free cocktail, but I can't actually believe that a busy restaurant would close their kitchen on a Saturday evening (on Bonfire Night too) and only decide to do so two days beforehand. I sensed that they were being slightly economical with the truth and didn't take them up on either offer. It almost ruined a really special weekend - and I don't really like being lied to.

Seriously - have they never thought about planning? We were a little disappointed to find the menu had only 4 main dishes (one of which was nut roast) but we thought fair enough, it's better to do 4 dishes well than have an extensive menu of average dishes. When the waitress informed us that they were out of steak and salmon and our only choice was nut roast or lamb we were somewhat shocked!Obviously we all ordered the lamb and the waitress kindly gave us the bread and butter on the house (seriously) due to our disappointment. Out of the 4 of us everyone enjoyed their lamb with the exception of me, I found it very fatty but that is why I never willingly order the lamb.Such a shame!!! The cocktails and ambience in this restaurant are great!

We visited this place for the first time and was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the excellent service that was given. When our Sunday meal was served it was not as hot as we'd like. However, once we notified the staff they offered to cook it again or if we could wait they would re-heat it in the oven. To be given such a choice was unusual and because we were so hungry we went for the quicker re-heated option. All this was dealt with so efficiently with no questions asked as 'why the meal wasn't hot enough' as you would get in some places. The manager, Ollie, was hands on dealing with each customer with an exceedingly friendly manner. I could have been in a top class West End restaurant such was the quality of the service.During our stay we noticed that someone had spilled a drink at their table and in a flash a staff member was there wiping it up. My wife said it was like watching superman swooping down to stop the spillage........We were so impressed with the food, service and the general ambiance that we booked our Christmas lunch for early December. The Powder Keg is definitely the best place in Battersea we have had Sunday Lunch to date and we have tried quite a few.Well done to Ollie and his brilliant staff. Excellent service.

Went here impromptu with my partner after having a few drinks somewhere else, we were told the wait would be 45mins for food but we deci to stay for a few drinks. My partner had a few Norwegian ales which he enjoyed and 2 Roger Rabbit cocktails while I waited which were delicious, my partner commented on how good the ale was.Looking on the menu there was nothing that really appealed but as last time I ate here was good we decided to eat here anyway and choose something we wouldn't usually go for. I opted for the pork chop with black pudding and dandelion and apple puree, the pork chop was delicious, the black pudding was good and plentiful and I really enjoyed the puree which balanced out the rest of the dish perfectly. My partner who doesn't usually order fish opted for the trout en crab with a salsa which he said was delicious. For dessert we both had a shortbread with a strawberry cream in a glass which was like a smooth mousse, it was light and refreshing and creamy my partner said it was really nice and delicious, I thought it was ok but not outstanding as I like a more constructed substantial and fanciful dessert. The service staff were very efficient and polite, and had great customer service skills, it was classic style vintage service. It cost us £100 for 3 cocktails 2 pints, 2 main meals and 2 desserts.

We visited PKD as a party of 4. Ambiance and atmosphere is very good, though if you are offended by colonial accouterments you may wish to look elsewhere.Food was excellent - starters were promptly delivered and requests catered for. The chicken parfait was particularly good, as was the game bird (I forget which, maybe partridge). Wine selection good. The homemade lemonade was laced with Vanilla, which is baffling - we had to send it back.Service was a bit of a mixed bag - one superb waiter with a French accent who is clearly a professional, and one rather sulky girl who gave me the distinct impression of wishing she was anywhere else. I can hardly blame her, but still irritating. She did promptly and correctly take orders and deliver food, so the service overall probably 7/10.Value for money...average. The food was very good but not mind blowing, and the bill overall came to £200 for the 4 of us, with 2 bottles of wine and 3 courses. For London its OK.

I went there after reading some excellent reviews. The place is very nice and I love the decor. We decided to share a few starters rather than 2 main courses. The food was quite nice but not excellent , was even a bit bland for 1 or two dishes. Our waiter was nice but inattentive at times despite the fact that the restaurant room was nearly empty.

This is, of course, not a pub but a bistro bar with food; real ale; craft beers;waiter service and a very different and eclectic decor. We just popped in for a pint and they had three beers on draught - we both chose the very excellent Sambrooke's Wandle Bitter (£4.40 a pint served at your table and in a jug). The decor is worth seeing and the service was fine even though we were not eating. A couple of tables outside and as it was a warm afternoon the french-window style doors were wide open and it was all very pleasant.

We were looking forward to dinner as a family in a restaurant with decent European food. Unfortunately they have changed the decor from what’s in the pictures to something much cheaper, which was a shame. Then we were presented with a Bar Menu for dinner with only burgers and sandwiches for dinner in a restaurant. Disappointed, we carried on and ordered the Chicken Burgers, one was burnt and one had the wrong sauce. They kindly took them back but then replaced them with what looked like the same burgers. The prices were also extremely high - restaurant prices for bar food! Unfortunately we won’t be back.

The restaurant is located directly on the Thames and has a circular floor to ceiling glass layout. The ground floor is essentially a coffee shop that serves meals and the first floor is a restaurant. An ideal place for a relaxed meal. Good food, friendly staff, and excellent views of the river. The breakfast pancakes are not to be missed.

Such a beautiful town! The castle is a fantastic experience, staff were so friendly and helpful. The displays were stunning and well displayed, lovely to see. We were on a tour so couldn't spend as much tie as we would have liked. Highly recommend, hope to come again.

Went for a birthday celebration. Our usual dining preference is a definite cuisine with homestyle cooking and no pretension. Once a year or so we do a fine dining option. She is vegetarian, I am less fussy. I am a good home cook, she works in the restaurant trade and we are sympathetic to current difficulties. We didn’t need to be so here; OK so I usually blench at the sight of a man tweezering food and waitstaff that serves the first course with “Let’s start our journey”,; it often signals a night of pretension and not much else, but this was excellent cooking and service to back it up. There is a £65 four course menu and a £85 tasting menu incl a veg option. We had the 4 course. Yes the portions are small, its not quite the ‘bag of chips on the way home’ scenario but its not gluttony either and ‘langoustine’ is exactly what it says. One langoustine, £15 additional option, doubtless because of the dab of caviar on the top of it, but it was the most perfectly cooked specimen I have ever had. They don’t travel well and often past their best before they arrive at a kitchen. The brioche melted in the mouth, the risotto was al dente but not raw and the parmesan crisp on top of it had obviously taken a lot of work, a sea bream ceviche was seriously fresh and beautifully balanced. The monkfish delicate and moreish. The wine list is expensive but that’s how it is these days – deal with it. The (presumably) head chef with the tweezers had obviously put in a lot of hard work in prep before he picked them up. Watching the kitchen staff in the open kitchen you saw zero macho heroics and a lot of surefooted care. The room wasn’t full all night and so I cannot vouch for the noise level past that, but mercifully no-one had turned up a ‘curated’ playlist. Service was attentive without being obsequious; you don’t usually get a recommendation for a Ukrainian ‘shots bar’ at the post dinner chat – we will check it out on a less refined evening. Really enjoyed it, you would be hard pressed to find better at this style of cooking and certainly not at this price level. Definitely worth a visit. Damn fine stuff.
