I haven't been here since before COVID. Before our office closed, which was very close to Poppins, myself and colleagues used to have lunch here regularly. Whilst visiting Romford i took my granddaughter here last Saturday. I was over the moon to see the same friendly people here and as always the food was delicious, served fast and hot! Great value for money and a very big varied menu. If you go once i think you will return! Even my 5 year old granddaughter who is a fussy eater asked if we could go again ❤️You can get takeaway too. Thank you Poppins x

Found this place after parking our car in the shopping hall to collect something locally. Looks like a very traditional, well established place, with extensive menu. We ordered the roast of the day and a steak & kidney pudding. The cafe was very busy but it was still too long a wait for our food. The s&k pudding came out eventually, but my roast was about 10 mins behind it. Food was home-cooked, tasty and a good portion. But they do need to speed up service and bring all meals out together. They seem to have lots of staff, so not sure where the problem lies, perhaps the menu is too big. Liked the place overall and would go again, but not if I was on a schedule!

Went here this morning to spend £11 on 2 sawdust sausages, the smallest rashers of bacon , quarter of a plate of mushrooms a lake of beans to rounds of toast with margarine. I didn't get asked if I wanted the tea or coffee that came with the breakfast. All in all not impressed as apparently the waitress was in training. And won't be back again I can see why the breakfast scene is getting smaller each day if the service is poor .

A good traditional pub with friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. The only thing to be careful of is the low ceilings, as it is a very old building (although it does give it character). 12 June 2023 update. Still a good pub. Beer was good, staff still very friendly and helpful, and I should add, it has the cleanest disabled toilet in a Romford pub. Thank you for making the effort. 22 October 2024 update. Yes, it is still one of the best pubs in the area. They still have a good selection of beer, and the atmosphere is welcoming. One of these days I will have some food, so I can give it a rating! 17 March 2025. Yes, it's still a great pub. Being St. Patrick's day, there was a local group playing appropriate music, with singing. A pity I had to leave early as they were good

This was my first time having a meal at this restaurant, I went with my son for my birthday. The restaurant was clean tidy and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The carvery was fantastic and very filling but I managed to squeeze in an amazing dessert. This restaurant is well worth visiting and definitely value for money. Congratulations to all staff for making my visit memorable

Came in today 9/3/25 at around 4pm. Food was delivered to the wrong table which was empty as the person was at the bar. When he returned he was surprised to find food on the table which didn't belong to him. We asked him if it was a curry and chicken bites and he said yes. So we got our food eventually but it was only warm. Such a shame as usually it's really good service there. Hadn't seen the waitress before so maybe she's new. 🤷 Disappointed this time. 😢
