The best restaurants serving British food in Braintree Central Braintree East of England

What a hidden gem !! A wonderful little restaurant, the staff were lovely, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The choice of food would cater for almost everyone - we both opted for curry which was excellent As for the puddings - the bread and butter pudding & crème brulee were our choices - highly recommended. Lee was polite / friendly answered all our questions. We would definitely recommend this restaurant - 10/10

My friend and I could not find anywhere in the town centre for lunch and came across The Glass House by accident so decided to pop in. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable seating and privacy as we sat left of the door. Staff are polite and attentative. Food was freshly made, very reasonably priced and tasted fantastic!! A bottle of fizzy water cost £1.. Yes I know I was shocked too!! 2 x luxury panini, 3 huge slices of coffee & walnut cake, 1 slab of chocolate cake, pot of tea, hot chocolate and a 500ml bottle of fizzy water came to £18 Absolutely excellent place to eat and will be returning!! P.S we didn't eat all the cake, took some home for the boys

This is the best cocktail bar EVER, the cocktails are the best I have ever tasted, the staff are lovely and welcoming each time we go. This is my favourite place …a proper little gem ❤️❤️

Im a regular here, have been going for years, their food tastes good, place is kept clean and the staff are friendly and provide excellent service. It's not expensive, which also makes it a bargin

Fresh & hot fish and chips. Had it delivered and the portion size was massive. Fish was fresh and all very hot. Compliments were due definitely be ordering again.

I came to watch the football today, the food, the staff and the atmosphere was brilliant. Shame about the result 🙄

The swan wonderful place where i married my wife on the 15th of june 2024. One week before the extreamly sad unfair end to a one of braintrees local pubs another sadly lost to rediculous fancy carabian dining we. One of the best friendly enviorments wonderful service respect due to amazing management by landlord ken amazing man with exellent management. Looking forward to see where he goes so will all of his customers will follow. Wonderful memorys. Sad loss butiful memorys. Love adam and wonderful wife serena. We will miss you swan. Loved alway.

Popped in for some lunch. Really really busy and cramped - tables are far too close together so people are falling into you to get past. Food ok - staff a bit disorganised and didnt get the orders quite right. Steak bake I had a bit average -- wasnt all that. Needs improvements.

On such a hot Saturday afternoon whilst walking around the green after lunch at The Fox we needed an ice cream! The coffee ice cream is highly recommend.

We ordered our drinks and food waited 30mins after I asked the waitress where our drinks were the food came out about 15 mins after that. We ordered chicken burgers with stuffing chips and pigs in blankets. The food came out without the pigs in blankets mentioned to the staff he said he wasn't aware he said he would bring them over we nearly finished our very very luke warm food. I mentioned to the waiter our food was just warm he said we should of mentioned it and they would of brought us another one. I said we didn't as we already waited 45 mins definitely did not want to wait that amount of time again.
