The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Just had lunch here, beautiful village pub, landlord and landlady present very chatty and friendly, the food was excellent, extremely upmarket, if I could recommend anything have the KFC for starter, cauliflower in a sauce to die for and sea bass for main, cooked to perfection, the chef came out and told us his history of where he worked previously, chilled atmosphere with a wonderful reasonably priced menu, highly recommend

Great all day breakfast. Very welcoming to our dog, she even got a complimentary sausage. Quite busy as it was a Sunday. Lots of visitors for a Sunday roast

we had been recommended this restaurant, so was looking forward to it. sorry but very disappointed had a toasted turkey sandwich and chips with gravy, the turkey was a piece of very chewy cardboard (couldnt call it meat). the sandwich itself was very dry. when the young lady collected my plate she asked if all was well i said no it was dry she said there was gravy to dip it in. never dipped a sandwich in gravy before. not very helpful, shant be going again

We recently spent 6 nights at this hotel. We had originally planned to stay 4 nights but added 2 more nights as we were really enjoying ourselves. The hotel was the main building and outside rooms. Our room was the standard double but large very clean with all the amenities. The breakfasts were excellent, buffet or served depending on what day of the week. Evening meals were in a smaller bar style restaurant. Meals were first rate All the staff (Reception, Breakfast, Evening meal) were first class and credit to Best Western. The local area was beautiful. We both would love to return. RECOMMENDED!! 5 star.

We popped in by chance as we were up from Cornwall visiting friends, the s&s had a great atmosphere and we decided to stay for some food! Food was great and definitely had service with a smile. Will be back next time we’re up!

Great traditional pub with limited opening times

Had a great night the tapas style menu was lovely and good value. Staff were friendly they just need to get some Sailor Jerry's 😆

Foods wonderfull, but the waitress I had needs to learn some basic manners. Telling a customer to sit instead of asking..

Tasty hearty full English breakfast. Came here after recommendation. Lovely atmosphere and great food, together with one of the best stocked farm shops and meat/cheese/deli counter 've ever seen. They also grow vines and produce their own wine Also farm walks available and a variety of animals to see so it can be an interesting half dy out for all the family, even the very young.

A real gem in Cromer, lovely Pizza, wine, beer and cocktails. Staff were lovely and very dog friendly. We really enjoyed the music and atmosphere.

Very average food these days, A few years back they did proper butchers sausages from buntingford now replaced by probably the cheapest one available, decent thick chips replaced by McDonald's style sticks! Always freezing cold in winter, but at least it has stayed open while many like it have gone The old owner for years (Frank) must be looking down most ☹️

After a bit of shopping we were looking for somewhere for lunch and came across Poppy's. Very quaint little tea room set out very nice with 50s music playing in the background with lots of old 50s posters and pictures on the walls. We ordered coffees, my with having black and me a caramel latte which was extremely nice. We both ordered sandwiches,my wife having tuna mayo with red onion and me having a club sandwich of chicken,bacon,lettuce,tomato and mayo. The sandwich was then lightly toasted. They were both very well presented and were very tasty. Would highly recommend this lovely little tea room!!

Booked in for a large group after a long morning shopping. Absolutely amazing food and amazing service, highly recommend!

Cuatro de nosotros fuimos aquí para el almuerzo del domingo, no es una gran zona de restaurantes, aunque muy peculiar con colecciones de platos y tazones alrededor de las paredes, muchos de los cuales se utilizan cuando está ocupado, por lo que sugeriría reservar. Louis es un anfitrión increíble que da la bienvenida a todos personalmente asegurándose de que su visita sea un placer. Cuando visitamos había una selección de tres asados. El tamaño de los platos con abundantes cantidades de verduras, patatas asadas y mucha salsa en el bote era enorme, y durante la comida se nos aplicó carne extra. Todo estaba muy sabroso, y servía tubería caliente. Es un pub y había una buena gama de cervezas, vinos, etc, todo el personal era muy agradable y amable. Sin duda recomendaría y volveremos si en la zona.

A party of nine of us ate here for my husbands birthday celebration. Young waiter very attentive and we were treated very well all evening. Lovely atmosphere and attractive setting. Nice choice of dishes on menu and I thought prices reasonable for this sort of hotel. My choice was haddock fish cakes for a starter followed by lamb,both of which were delicious. The lamb was particularly tender. My dessert choice was chocolate brownie which went down very well. The wines we chose were really good a Sauvignon Blanc and a couple of bottles of Rioja. My only criticism is that two of our party including the birthday boy chose the sea bass and it was a bit light on accompaniments.Why is it that fish dishes are always so much smaller than meat. Just because you eat fish doesn’t mean that you want a little meal. Apart from that an excellent meal which we all enjoyed,good service and somewhere we will certainly go again.
