The Saint & Sinner in St Albans

We popped in by chance as we were up from Cornwall visiting friends, the s&s had a great atmosphere and we decided to stay for some food! Food was great and definitely had service with a smile. Will be back next time we’re up!

This has to be the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The waiting staff and manager terrible. There has absolutely no understanding of customer service. We ordered drinks from the menu and none of them were available and they talked to us as if we were the idiots.

Lovely place, feels like a really opulent hotel! Unfortunately this means there are lots of little rooms where you can get forgotten, which was our experience. Took half an hour of being ignored before we went in search of menus ourselves, another 10 minutes for anyone to come and offer drinks, at which point we were told there was a 45 minute wait on food. Drinks took ages, were incorrect twice, one request we received twice (ten minutes apart). The food was fantastic but I wouldn’t visit again due to the service. Yes, it’s Christmas and it was busy, but there were several empty tables and the attitude of our server was just indifferent, rather than over-run.

Very poor service. Waited ages for driven to be served to our table. Plethora of excuses. Food massa produced. Very disappointing.

First of all let me say the building, decorations and everything internal is stunning and the staff are delightful. The food, not so much. Our guests had toasties, I've never seen such a small square of bread on the plate, no bits of salad on side. It looked dreadful and they were disappointed. My pizza was very mean on the pepperoni , and was greasy and my husbands burger and chips was ok but The burger was a very thin one. We had come all the way from Guildford to meet our Grandaughter's partner so didn't want to make an issue, but sadly won't return.

Top quality cocktails, friendly and patient service. Our group’s favourites were the cucumber Collins, salted caramel/pornstar martini

Great food Service was perfect. Pizza was very good, didn’t take too long. Been much better recently hope it continues, keep it up!

Been here at least five times and am still hoping that the service is better than the last time. Great location and atmosphere but awful service. I have never had to wait so long to be served , not once, but time after time. A real disappointment.

This is a lovely place but they are terrible neighbours. They leave their doors open late at night and the music is very loud. Despite being approached on numerous occasions by people who live next door and by the council representative they continue to not show any care of respect to their noise levels.

Great food, pizzas really good, service a bit slow but weren’t in a rush so still had a lovely experience. Really nicely fitted out.

My friends and I came for my leaving drinks and we had great service as always. The food was delicious and all staff members made sure that we had a great night.

What has happened here, this place was ram packed last September. Went in here today & the place was dead. Barman that served us had a very odd attitude. Maybe McMullens need to send someone in from head office secretly and find out why this places ratings on here are plummeting. What a shame…….

Terrible service and food. Poor girl was serving on her own so obviously staffing issues. Table next to us was not cleared the whole time we were there. No offer of drinks or desserts. Will not rush back. Shame as it is a great venue and could have a great atmosphere if it was busier.

Slow, poor and no guest service. Came on a very quiet Tuesday. Drinks took 20 minutes. Food arrived, no cutlery, napkins or condiments offered. The bar man rolled his eyes at us! Would never return. Very very poor!!!!!!

I’ve been wanting to come here for ages, looks lovely from the outside. Went to the bar and was greeted by a young bar lady with all the charm of a paving slab, asked if they have any deals on spirits and was told it’s double the price, no alternative, no smile or interaction just a blank expression like a mannequin. Won’t be rushing back.

After a depressing Saturday evening at an embarrassment of a pub "The Albans Well" who got nothing but amateur staff and horrendous drinks and food, we finally found a gem in St albans. Me and my friend came by for Sunday roast and were absolutely blown away by the food. The roast beef and chicken were really good and the drinks were fantastic and done right. we had a really great time overall. The infrastructure is absolutely majestic and I wish the team and company the very best. Thank you for making our experience memorable.

We visited on Friday 22nd March for dinner and had a really lovely first impression of this beautiful place, absolutely stunning decor, great food and service The lady who served us was called JENNY and she was great, very friendly, polite & kept checking on us to see if we had everything we needed, absolutely delightful, had a lovely chat, thanks so much We will definitely be back for both the breakfast and the Sunday roasts 😊

Had an amazing evening at the Saint and Sinner. Jenny was amazing and very attentive. Amazing host and made our night brilliant. The best waitress at a brilliant location. Fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Came for drinks, our bar tender amani was absolutely phenomenal, was so accommodating and lovely!! Will definitely be telling friends!!

We loved the paintings on the walls and the moody lighting and it was nice to have a leisurely dinner in a smallish side room away from the music. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The starters and desserts were all nice. Unfortunately, I ordered a salad for my main course and it was extremely gritty. It felt like my mouth was full of sand and as though the kale hadn't been washed. To be fair, when we mentioned it the waiter was very apologetic and immediately went to talk to the manager. They deducted it from the bill without us even asking. It was such a shame as everything else was delicious. I think I would visit again, but it's certainly put me off eating any kale again for a while and certainly not there!

The service was really good and professional. Nathan is an amazing waiter and very welcoming. He answered our questions amazingly and overall was amazing. Will definitelybe coming back soon.

The five of us visited the Saint & Sinner tonight for a family get together and we enjoyed every minute of it. We had great service from Jenny who was a delight and super helpful. Attentive and looked after but not intrusive, that perfect balance that is often so difficult to find The food was delicious. Several of us opted for the steak and each was cooked exactly as requested. The desserts were indulgent and beautifully presented. Great atmosphere in a relaxed setting. Very good value for money. I can't wait to visit again. Thanks!

Fantastic food and attentive waiting staff. Jenny our waitress was excellent, so accommodating and very personable. One of our party was gluten intolerant and the food from both menus was excellent, you couldn't tell the difference. Excellent flat iron steak and all the desserts we tried were delicious. Would highly recommend.

Really interesting place with different rooms for different vibes. We wanted a quiet dinner so the back rooms were perfect. We popped in on Saturday afternoon around 3 on the off chance of booking a table around an hour later and the gentleman working in the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful. The food is good but the service really is excellent. The lady serving in the restaurant was really friendly and professionally. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to come back for brunch the next day with the kind gentleman reserving us a table. Again, the food was excellent and the same lady from Saturday was on duty who once again provided great service.

First time here. Nice decor and ambience. Average pub food but restaurant prices and non alcoholic drinks same price as alcoholic (even though no tax tariff). So no good value for money. Service was excellent and our waitress Jennifer more than made up for the negatives.

This was my first visit, first impressions were good… every member of staff were friendly and attentive. The decor was great, nice ambience and good music. Clean. However the food was a bit underwhelming… just very average. Nice. But average. Sadly, I won’t rush back for the food, but the bar area has a great vibe and shuffleboard to play on.

Had a great meal Jenny our server was friendly and obliging as we needed to be out in time for a theatre show. She timed everything to perfection for us. Food was good and came quickly and we even squeezed in dessert. Lovely decor and setting thanks to all the staff
