Lovely cafe and friendly staff! Great coffee and matcha and really good range of vegan options. Would recommend and definitely will come back soon :)

Under new ownership so can’t wait to see how this business progresses. Does great cocktails so hope these stay on the menu. Lovely warm welcoming atmosphere as ever. One of our favourite local places to visit.

Lots of nooks and crannies to sit. Really authentic beers and service. These more high end spots are doing well, rightly so, in Cromer.

We have been visiting the Gangway occasionally but regularly since it opened and until recently it was an absolute gem of a bar, with a friendly welcome, delightful service from every waiter and waitress, and well-made, fairly-priced cocktails. But what has happened? The lovely staff seem to have gone and the welcome is, at best, neutral. Another disappointment is the Gangway's decision to discontinue table service. So how does it work? You order, and pay for your drinks at the bar, and then set off to find a table. On our last visit, this was a bit of a struggle, as it involved squeezing between other seated customers. Once settled, there is little inclination to uproot yourself, squeeze out of your place and go back to the bar to order another drink. Had there been staff on hand to take further orders, we would have done what we always used to to do, and had several more cocktails. We found better cocktails, at better prices, and much, much friendlier service, round the corner in the Red Lion, so are unlikely to return to the Ganway unless reports show it's back where it used to be. I can't see it surviving in its current state, which is sad.

This was our first time here and I'm glad we decided to give the gangway a try. The cocktails and pizzas were first class, the beer was great also and the service was friendly and efficient, I'm sure we will return!

The cocktails are great but sadly the overall experience has changed, you now have to order at the bar because they want to promote more of a bar vibe. The drinks are still brought to your table but we felt ordering at the bar has changed the whole mood. We only stayed for one drink then moved on, previously we would definitely had at least 3/4 rounds because the staff would come and ask if you wanted another drink etc and this all added to what was a fantastic relaxing experience.

Poor service & being accused of having a drink we hadn’t, to the point the cctv was checked in front of us! No apology made. Ordered 2 cocktails to be told one was out of stock; fine, so ordered a different drink. Only one drink is handed to us so query where other drink is, to which bar man points to drink my friend already had & says she’s had it! We tried to point out that was her FIRST one & we had just ordered round two! Carries on arguing with us & then walks off & whole bar staff gather round cctv in front of us to see if we were lying; which clearly showed we weren’t! Maybe instead of chatting to all their mates & letting them hang round the bar, bring back table service so you can tell whose had what drinks!

Went on a Saturday evening and the atmosphere was great. A good selection of drinks and a relaxing evening. We had the pizza which was delicious, but make sure you’re on the right night for it and time because it’s not available all the time. I chose for us to go on the day we did knowing pizza would be available if we wanted something to eat. Staff were friendly and attentive. Ended up staying there all evening. Would absolutely recommend.

Thought we would give it a 2nd chance Should not have bothered it was worse than the 1st visit last year ! Sausage rolls like eating cardboard with a meat paste cold tasteless ! Coffee not good we noticed other customers had left food too ! Staff looked uninterested tables & chairs outside were dirty with bird droppings dead plant in pot on pavement sugar container dusty really disappointed will not bother again !!

As a regular customer love taking friends here for cocktails or coffee. Never ceases to disappoint. Always a friendly welcome, great selection of drinks and food, great vibe and excellent service. Highly recommend

The place has decided not to open the main seating area until midday, leaving just four tables available. When I called in the morning, the four were taken, and I was turned away, with no offer to open the main area. I have been a regular here for a long time, living in Cromer, and this arrogant treatment was completely unacceptable. I shall not go there again. They need to remember that come the winter, with no tourists, they will need the local customers to keep them going.

The NNWG meet twice a month at Merchants Place, after the meeting we often head to ‘The Gang Way’ We always make for the lovely big table in the window. Most of us are the wrong side of sixty, but we always feel at home here. They offer a number of dairy free alternatives also gluten free and vegan. I particularly enjoy the hot chocolate made with Coconut Milk and a slice of Raspberry and Coconut cake. My only complaint is that they don’t have the means to heat up their pastries (sausage rolls etc) although I did have a very nice pizza there once. The toilets are a little tricky to negotiate, but is doable and they are quite sanitary.

Very cliquey, and don’t bother going if you’re over 35. They’re not interested. The table service is a horrible idea. They ignore you for ages and when you eventually go and ask what’s happening , well, just don’t you dare! I’ve been a regular since it opened, I’ve spent £100’s in there. Each time I go it’s as if they’ve never seen me before! I eventually asked myself why I keep going. It’s nothing special. Tinned drinks and vegan snacks or overpriced street food. As a local I won’t be going in again, and I’m not alone. So many others feel the same.

Popped in for coffee and cake. Lovely coffee - great selection of cakes. Nice and welcoming. Nice place with artwork on the walls to sell and nice music.

As a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur, this is the best coffee i've had in North Norfolk. Husband impressed by all the Craft beers on offer. Staff lovely and knew their stuff. Will be back for cocktails as these looked great.

Called in for drinks and snacks with family of three generations. First impressions you walk into the smallish bar area cafe is via a back corridor area into the cafe, this would be unsuitable for those with walking problem. The cafe it self is nice and is table service. Menus for cocktails on table and drinks on the table. We missed the list of cakes/pastries etc written on the opened door as you walk in. Why not a table menu for them. Saying that the service was very good the teas and coffee good. Cake apple crumble and chocolate and raspberry croissants were all nice.

About the least disabled friendly toilet In have ever seen. I use a mobility aid and it was BAD. The door to the toilet was blocked with a pot plant and massive casks which my partner had to push aside. Inside it there was NO disability adaptation. I couldn't turn my mobility aid around to lock the door, so I asked my partner to stand by the outer door to make sure nobody came in. They should spend less time trying to be arty and try to think about disabled customers.

An unusual place for us because they are into different types of the usual food and drink but what we had was fresh and tasty and if you like your cocktails a good place to go.

We drove to cromer from Norwich as the cabin and gangway were recommended to us. I called and asked if I could book a table and was told no, but they can always accommodate somehow. So we headed over for a 45-minute drive. When we got there the staff member said there were no tables. We said fine, we would stand and have a drink and wait until one comes free. No, she said, you clearly don't understand. You can not wait indoors. You can sit outside. It was 3oC and had been raining all day, so the seats were wet. The team even put a facebook video earlier in the day showing how wet it was. It started drizzling again, so no, we did not sit outside. I asked if I could leave my number and we would go for a drink somewhere else and to call if a table comes free. The staff said no. When we walked out we went past the window. There was a table that would sit about 6 people with two women sitting at it. They could have easily accommodated us at one end of the table but did not. I have never been turned away like that. It was so rude. So we went to the Red Lion for a drink and awesome food in Ban Thai where the staff were lovely and made me feel welcome.

We called in for a couple of cocktails each before going to a hotel for Sunday lunch. Pleasant service and a great selection of drinks. I chose both of my drinks from the seasonal cocktail menu. AND both were delicious.

I was visiting Cromer for the day with a friend. I have visited Cromer several times over the last few years but have never come across this cafe. They are situated to the east side of the sea front ( to the right of the pier) It has lovely views over the sea. There are two flights of stairs, but there is a lift, so no problem if you have any mobility issues. You can choose to sit inside or out, on the fabulous veranda. We sat inside, as it was a little windy. The view through the porthole style windows was just as good They have a varied many. I found it hard to choose, every thing sounded so nice. I chose a bacon and Brie panini. Absolutely gorgeous, fresh smoked bacon none of your pre packed bacon here. The service was great. The staff were on the ball at all times, keeping tables clear as customers left. Definitely worth a visit.

Cocktail selection was really nice, some unique ones to choose from. We sat outside which was nice, facing the steam train railway. Was a bit expensive, not sure if that's the going rate for cocktails around here (£9.50).

What a lovely find, 2 minutes from the beach in the village centre. Tastefully decorated. Delicious fresh coffee and yummy vege pasty. The staff were warm and friendly and I’m looking forward to my evening visit to sample the cocktails 😊

Just an oddity, and reliant upon tourists, and the few trendy who live in Cromer/Sheringham who dont; worry about £6 a pint! Total rip-off, and Sheringham is the same! It isn't for locals at all, and locals don't drink here.

Service was polite but ineffectual. We ordered 3 different drinks . A tea was not what was selected, the beer was undrinkable, and the coffee was good. However 1 out of three is pretty poor at these prices. I wouldn’t come back here again.
