Food is yet to be reintroduced, but will be available soon, not long after the reopening of this beautiful Pub. Upper case. The care in injecting some love into this hidden escape marvel. Generations of my family have been in on it's secrets. She's got to have a great future. Delighted with service and atmosphere.

We had a lovely family meal at the Fox Inn yesterday. The menu, the service and the food was exceptional. We had prawns to start which were enormous and very tasty! Our mains were excellent too: plentiful fish and chips, scampi and chips and spare ribs - we would highly recommend all of the dishes. Colin, Emma and their team gave us a very warm welcome and went above and beyond to look after us. We will definitely come and visit you again - with appropriate transport plans next time!

As always, we have absolutely fantastic food and customer service. It’s a pleasure to eat here. The owners are always super friendly despite being rushed off their feet. Food is always fresh with decent portion sizes. I highly recommend eating here.

Superb place to eat in the village, the food and staff were superb yet again. Choice, quality and quantity of food wre all top notch. Excellent value for money and the choice of drinks wer not overpriced. Second visit even though it was 7 miles of our route and we will be back when ver in the area.

They didn't ask us to pre-order. There were 14 of us, seated at 2 tables - a table of 10 and a table of 4, which wasn't ideal. We had to wait over an hour for the main course, then over half an hour for dessert. The food was lovely and well-presented when it eventually arrived. If we go again, I think we should pre-order and also ask for the table layout to be different, so that we can all sit together.

Dear TripAdvisor. You and the wider internet have well and truly lied to us. The Ship Inn of Retford is basically an absolute hole, disguised as a half decent establishment. The lass behind the bar was proper canny, but she was up against it when it became apparent that there was absolutely no-one in the building capable of heating up a chilli cheese dog. Problematically, though, instead of telling us that they couldn't quite manage to serve up said dish, they readily took our money and left us sitting for over an hour, with an oft-promised 'two-minutes on your food'. Coq au Vin to that we said, after 75 minutes of my stomach thinking my throat had been cut. The final straw was the pub football team(s) who gradually took over the place, who were canny to begin with but then the chief mischief maker entered stage rear, soon to be visited by his actual dealer, and with all the excitement of a new pencil case on the first day of term, took to smoking himself a nice blunt. Now there's a time and a place for this activity, and 1pm on a Sunday lunchtime in a pub next to little kids is not a single one of those. So we left. With a difficult-to-get refund, and still with the stomach and throat thing in full swing. What an absolute chuff on. Only getting one star because you won't let me give precisely none. Do your stomach and your nose a favour, give it a nice wide berth.

Chose the Cliff Inn in Crich, Derbyshire, for a lunch due to its location near to a planned walk - and so glad I did! Though the choice of roasts is limited, the excellent quality and quantity received is second to none. I chose the roast chicken but did not expect a half of chicken including wing and leg! Far too much for one portion. That's without mentioning the deliciously fresh and tasty vegetables, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and homemade gravy and cranberry sauce that came with it! All this for under £16 - well worth the money. In fact, I had to take home half of it in plastic tubs and foil that were kindly offered. Well worth a visit!

We love this place and come here regularly. First time ever I wasn't happy. The sausage meal was tasty but the veg were dire. Grossly overcooked tiny bits of carrot a few gratings of red cabbage and the tiniest bit of broccoli that would have been more appropriate for a toddler trying new foods!
