The best restaurants in Wales

Every time I visit the staff are so friendly! I come here a lot and I have never had a bad experience. They’re quick and polite no matter how busy they are (and it gets very busy some mornings) but this is a testament to their success. Top Tip: the Chai Latte is the best I’ve had from anywhere in the world.

Came across this pub when looking for somewhere to eat after not finding anywhere suitable in the Town Centre. So glad we did as the food and wine were delicious . We had the Curry specials and a steak burger which were all cooked beautifully. The pub interior has been renovated to a very high standard and a treat to find such nice toilets. We will visit again when next in Abergavenny on our travels from Dorset.

I don't normally bother to write reviews but the service today was a repeat of negative experiences we've had here before. We arrived around 5pm and were promptly seated and our orders taken. Food arrived fairly quickly and was tasty as usual - all good so far. My issue however is that once you are served, the staff pretty much leave you to it. There was no follow up to order further drinks, nor an invitation to order desserts. I ended up walking round trying to find a server but no hope. In the end, frustated and annoyed, we gave up and just asked a lad who was clearing tables for the bill - although he then had to get a server to do this. Trying to pay was another faff, I asked for the automatic tip that they add on to be removed but the girl had to get a manager to do this. Such a shame that poor service is letting this place down. We were there for about 1.5 hours and just had one drink and our mains. Lack of attentive service left us feeling totally ignored and forgotten about. We would have ordered at least one more round of drinks (about £25) plus desserts, (probably another £25) and they would also have gotten their tip. Seeing as I'm having a moan, I'll add that the sparkler that the staff brought out for another table who were having a birthday left acrid smoke in the air for a good 5 minutes - really not pleasant when we were eating. I really don't think we'll be back, at least not during an evening service.

Lovely little cafe. beautiful food very friendly staff Samantha was our waitress she was a delight. Would recommend the home made cakes made by Fiona they are lush.

What a gorgeous place I saw the menu and wanted to try everything on it! It looked so tasty Ordered breakfast and the quality of the food was amazing

The chicken pad Thai is absolutely out of this world!!

Called in for lunch on Friday. Lovely staff, all friendly and helpful We had a Lamb Flat bread and a warm Chicken Caesar Salad Good sized portions and both were really tasty Good strong coffee too! Plenty of free parking, interesting building with large outdoor area We'll be back!

Great coffee shop, actually one of my locals. Coffee is fabulous, staff are simply amazing. However, It needs a good clean down, I’d say a right good scrub would be extremely helpful, looking closely today is actually filthy and has been getting worse over the time. I’m not getting at the staff, cafe NERO area managers sort this store out!

Food is absolutely amazing, staff are very friendly and welcoming, can’t do enough for you, overly clean and well decorated. Would highly recommend have become a regular

First visit yesterday after recommendation from family. What a lovely place...very impressed with the food..one of us had the full breakfast..the other had the breakfast wrap...both lovely. The decor very nice...friendly atmosphere and the staff very pleasant...Will definitely visit again...well done all .

Went to Asaph for 2 days went here for a few drinks and had such a great evening with the landlord and the locals really friendly place great drinks will definitely be going back again

Went for lunch today for the first time. Lovely fresh food. I had the scampi which was nice and golden brown with homemade chips . Husband had the gammon with homemade chips. A joy to find chips cooked like that as a lot of places do frozen. Staff were attentive and friendly, checked we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely return.

We stopped at this cafe for lunch after some sight seeing around the area. Found good reviews about it and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed by it. We found the chips rather delicious in a unique way, so do check the chips out.

Absolutely beautiful food, really lovely serving staff too. The chorizo and applewood cheese ciabatta is particularly impressive

I went with my daughter and son in law for Sunday lunch on Jan 28th. They were extremely busy as they had 3 large parties in for lunch but they fitted us in. We had salmon, turkey, and steak and ale pie respectively and I couldn’t fault the food. Everything was cooked to perfection, none of this half cooked veg thank goodness. It was service with a smile from all and we even asked to speak to the chef Perry to congratulate him on the food. Thank you all the ladies who served us as you worked extremely hard. I can heartily recommend this restaurant which is named the Fairway and has the most stunning views over the golf course. You would love it. Anita kissane.
