Visited for a few drinks and some food. We both had the sirloin steak with all the trimmings which was lovely and cooked just as requested. The pub has been renovated to a high standard, welcoming staff and great service too. Well worth going for a few drinks and some food if visiting Abergavenny.

Popped in for lunch today. Excellent food. Clearly freshly cooked, really good quality and great flavour. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Decor really is lovely in there after the refurb. I think the ‘Steak Burger’ is possibly the best burger I’ve had in a long time.

Great place, lovely decor, but terrible service. Me and my family ate there on Mother’s Day, when we asked a simple questions to the waitress regarding the potion sizes, she couldn’t comment, it must’ve been her first day as we also asked what sizes the wine was served in and she responded with “I don’t know”. Aside from the terrible service I found a long brown hair in my food (the waitress serving us had long brown hair). When we asked for a remake she said… “the chef won’t be happy”. I have never been to a place where the service has been so poor. The food was great, but letdown by poor service. We will not be returning.

A lovely newly refurbished addition to Abergavenny town, the pub has a nice atmosphere, with good standards of hygiene both in the pub and toilets that were clean and fresh smelling.

Myself and partner went for lunch today as I had seen good reviews and wanted to try for myself. Did not disappoint - lovely setting, really like interior especially sofas around woodburner area. Really clean and modern interior. Was greeted by friendly bartender/waiter who looked after us very well on our visit. Not that many people inside but it was snow showers on and off which might have put people off going out! Food was good Haddock & Chips and Chicken Tikka Masala both came out really well presented and piping hot. We did indulge in desserts of Apple Crumble and Rocky Road Brownie with Ice Cream (which was absolutely 100% moorish). Outside area overlooking park looks lovely spot for a summers day - as dog owners we will revisit with our pooches soon.

Absolutely fantastic night for our works Christmas night out. The food was so good. When you eat out as a large party I kind of expect the food to be a bit lower standard but this just wasn’t the case! I had the mackerel pate to start, followed by the monk fish, and then cheese and biscuits. All courses were delicious! Superb flavours and good portion sizes. The service was outstanding! The manager Tom was very professional and made sure everything ran smoothly and we had everything we needed. The young boys serving us had the perfect level of attentiveness.. All staff were super lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble! There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, with live music later in the evening (with some of our party even joining in for a duet! lol) I would highly recommend the Victoria without any hesitation. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to visit again!

What a stunning addition to Abergavenny. A group of us had been intending on paying visit here for food. I noted week ending 11th February 2024. That they had invested in a state of the art large screen and taking requested for take bookings. I booked ahead of time, we are great rugby fans and couldn’t wait to sit down to watch the England wales game. We were running late so called ahead and spoke to Sam who confirmed our booking was secure. On arrival we had to wait 10 minutes, Sam came and told us that our table was occupied, we politely asked if the customers could be moved so we could take our seats, we were told no and told to find a standing place. We did get to watch the game as the kings head let us into there large screen in the large rear seating areas. I saw the face post book adverting tables for the rugby and gently commented on my experience on my to find that the Victoria has blocked me on Facebook. I’m was disappointed as we hadn’t been to the Victoria and wanted to do so for quite some time. The customer service was just awful and further more being blocked on face book as they felt my polite concern was not the correct place to mention my disappointed.. Please be aware of your book a table and it’s busy they may not honour your booking. And if you do make any sort of reference politely about a bad experience at the Victoria they will block your post so others can not see your shared experience. I’d give 10/10 for the lovely setting but the service and response is so shocking I’d give a minus 10

The place is very nice and trendy. Had a big and beautiful mix grill and there is a premium choices of beverages in thier bar. Is worth to dine for.

We had hoped to make the Victoria a local favourite of ours. It was our third visit yesterday (Sunday 14th Jan) and my husband and I had taken my parents out for my Dad's 71st. Previously we had gone as a couple and then at Christmas taken other relatives. Up until yesterday we had nothing but high praise for it. The atmosphere, decor, staff and food were amazing and being reasonable in prices too we had lots of plans to take friends and family at various times in the future (being proud of such a beautiful foodie local). Yesterday, however, was a huge disappointment. It all started by us nicely asking for the table to be wiped as it was a bit sticky in an area - no big deal. This however seemed to have been of great offense to the staff member serving - who actually turned out to be the manager. From that moment on her her demeanour was awful, sullen, no eye contact, no smiling or pleasantness. Every one of us at the table felt it and were highly uncomfortable. This continued on with each return to the table. Eventually I was reduced to tears at noticing her at another table, friendly and smiling and asking how the meal was. My parents don't eat out often, my Dad has ill health and it was important to me that they had a great time. It was so awful in fact, that my lovely husband had to get up and ask to speak to the manager (turning out, as said, to be this lady). After he raised the issue, she said she would try to smile more and became more polite at the table, but, it was evidently - awkward. To be generous, I would have said she was having a bad day (even though her issue seemed to lie with us specifically) but, there is little comfort in that because it over-shadowed what I had hoped to be a very special memory with my parents. As said before, there is so much to love about the Victoria, and the other staff who have served us have been warm, helpful and friendly. But, sadly now, I have great reservations about going there again. There is nothing worse than paying money to feel uncomfortable and be treated rudely.

First time at this restaurant but definitely not going to be our last! Food was fabulous - fresh and home made, the batter on my fish was so light and crisp it's probably the best fish and chips I have had in the UK. The staff were great and really friendly went out of their way to seat us closer to the band because I let on my friend was one of the singers. A really lovely experience all round and really reasonably priced. Looking forward to our next visit! Thank you to all at The Victoria

I wrote a review when we dined here back in September which was superb, cannot believe there has been no posts since mine. It was a very busy night and Tom misunderstood our order and we ended up with just one meal and two sides that we didn’t order. The one side was not as it should have been and Tom the manager apologised profusely. When we asked for our bill Tom was very gracious and didn’t charge for our drinks, the problem was dealt with in a very professional way, we will be back Tom.

Our first visit to the newly refurbished "Vic" on a rare visit to Abergavenny from our home in Spain, and it really was a pleasant surprise. Sumptuously refitted and an interesting menu with great service. We were pleased to see it was pleasantly busy, too!

Excellent lunch here today - they clearly understand making a basic dish super tasty - and the portions were attractive and generous. Friendly service and squeaky clean throughout. Highly recommended

Fantastic all around. My partner and I visited Abergavenny for the week and what we had anticipated to be a simple pub lunch turned into one of the highlights of our trip. Food was delicious, both the classic burger and the sirloin steak were tasty, well presented and great value for money. My wife particularly enjoyed the rosé wine that was advertised on the specials board. Service from the staff was impeccable, young lady with glasses behind the bar made us some incredible cocktails, and the manager (shirt and glasses) was friendly and attentive. The pub was tastefully decorated with some great interesting historical decorations that show of some of the towns history. We loved reading the old courtroom documents on the walls! Definitely deserving of another visit next time we are in the area!

My wife and I visited on a quiet Thursday lunchtime. A lot of time and money have been spent on totally gutting and refurbishing this old pub. With that said, I would recommend that the proprietors need to instruct the two staff on duty to speak to guests upon arrival, such as “Hello, welcome to the Vic”, rather than watch us advance to the bar in silence. Also, no one came to enquire as to how we were enjoying the food, nor was anything asked of us after we had eaten. Potentially, this establishment can be a winner but a little more staff training would do no harm at all..There is a lot of competition in and around Abergavenny so survival is not easy. With regard to the food, the crab arancini was good but the fries smothered in Jack cheese should be dropped. It turned out to be a a coagulated mess. We sincerely hope the Vic makes it!

We went for supper on a Thursday evening, it was quite busy, mostly families. They have done a really nice job on the renovations, would be nice to see a bit more colour in the decor, some pictures maybe, etc., Really nice young team, creating a great vibe!!!!
