Bean & Bread in Monmouthshire

This is my idea of the perfect coffee shop. The Coffee and cake were amazing. We started the morning here and after walking around for a while sight seeing we came back later to have another drink.

We have been visiting Bean & Bread for the past 5yrs and love it, the atmosphere, the service, the coffee & food along with the presentation is always amazing .. thank you!

Lovely fresh and cozy place to have bit of brunch and a warm beverage. They have seating outside too which is great for summer time. Can have large tables booked too for special occasions.

Great coffee shop in the town and competes with Coffi Lab for top spot. Shop was busy - clearly a good sign and there were ample food choices and drink choices to suit all. Design of the restaurant is chilled and there’s a lot of space. Coffee was enjoyable and staff were friendly. Didn’t try the sit down food however it did look good as I walked past and would’ve tried had we had more time. Definitely recommend for takeaway / for a visit if you are in the area.

Had the Bean and Bread with a side of hash brown and halloumi - all of it was fantastic. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend dropping in.

What a local treasure! Absolutely delicious food (that comes with incredible sourdough bread), warm, modern and light atmosphere, and tasty drinks too. Highly recommend to anyone passing by 🥰 PS: try the iced latte with homemade vanilla syrup, it is to die for!

Best coffee in Abergavenny. We don't live locally but enjoy a walk and wander round Abergavenny and always make the time to pop in (or outside!) for a coffee. Good gluten free options if you're peckish and staff are diligent about asking about allergies.

This is a really lovely chilled place to go for breakfast/brunch. Staff are really pleasant and the food is good and a bit different.

I think the restaurant was inspired by a trip to New Zealand - certainly has a bit of that feel - great coffee and food plus loved the plants - so many - and they have a wall with glass test-tubes that often has free cuttings for the cafe guests.

What a gem of a place: wheelchair access and toilet, dog friendly, great coffees and meals. The service was exceptional and they even changed my coffee because the long black had more water than I am used to. We will be back.

Love the style of this place. Great decor, healthy fayre & nice staff. Been here few times & despite being quite expensive don’t mind paying for quality. Today I took my son for a treat & we came out feeling ripped off & still hungry. Great coffee but small, good pear juice, lovely sourdough toast but expensive and again minimal. Turkish eggs were tasteless and watery, pumpkin tasty but not enough. Expect to be full after spending £16 each. Don’t get too greedy!!!

What a massive disappointment.!My Husband called to buy 3 pastries to have with our morning coffee. Unfortunately £10.00 lighter. Like chewing leather. They were not freshly baked, tasted stale. Sorry won’t be coming back and certainly won’t recommend breakfast pastry buy.

Congratulations to the owner, management and service team on what is an absolute gem of coffee shop! A cool, chilled vibe awaits when you walk into this lovely space. Such a relaxing ambiance to sit and enjoy what has to be some of the best coffee I have had on the planet. But the food! Wow! The breakfast was just exquisite. I consider myself fairly well traveled and as a food professional, I have to again congratulate you on the menu and execution of some amazing colours, flavours and textures - truly outstanding - well done! Tucked away in Abergavenny, this is a must visit for anyone wanting an amazing eating experience.

Nice environment. Chilled out music. Great cakes ( delicious baked cheesecake) and interesting sandwiches. Coffee was really good. They also do good nice cocktails! Easy to park in Morrisons supermarket car park and just hop over the road to Bean &Bread. Definitely recommend.

We’ve only been twice. The first time, the food took ages to arrive and we were told it was because their system had gone down, but the food was tasty so we gave it another go today. It took quite a while just to order, but after waiting 45 minutes for our food to arrive, we gave up and asked for a refund.

This place was our family favourite for years. We would show it off to all our friends from out of town. It was must stop location whenever we ventured into town. The portions used to be generous, and the service fantastic. Unfortunately we have noticed a steady decline. Wait times are now much longer for food. The portions have become much smaller, as an example going from 2 slices of bread with food to one. The food always used to arrive at the same time, however recently it has been arriving late, and different items at different times. Don’t get me wrong the food is still tasty. However for the high price they now charge, unfortunately I think they have tipped the balance from a great little cafe to an overpriced cafe with below standard service and small portions. Also the best item on the menu (in my opinion) was “beans and bread” however this has been taken off their new and definitely not improved new menu. The clue is in the name. Bring the beans and bread back to the Bean and Bread…

Not the best. Told fairly bluntly there was a 30-45minute wait for food. We decided to stay and chance it even though it didn’t seem THAT busy. Mentioned we were interested in the French toast. We were told there wasn’t any. Then went to the counter to order scrambled eggs on toast only to be told they weren’t doing it (even though we were still WELL within the breakfast time as advertised on the menu) so they could catch up with the rest of the orders. Quite disappointing. Left after having a coffee (which took a full half an hour to arrive) and a sticky bun (25mins for that to be taken from the counter and brought to the table).
