Great place for Sunday lunch. You may have to book to avoid disappointment.

My husband and I had the perfect Valentine's evening at the Kings Arms. Right from the start the staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive. The food was locally sourced and cooked to perfection, and was reasonably priced considering the occasion. The function room was beautifully decorated and sensitively lit. The evening was rounded off with entertainment from Jim Ramsey. All in all, a perfect evening!

Fabulous lunch hadn't booked but got fitted in delight staff fab service great experience . They were very busy and had to make more fresh burgers for us. They were extremely apologetic about the wait and the staff were lovely. When we got ou lunch it was delicious and we also were given free drink for our wait. Go people great place

Fantastic old coaching inn - all wooden beams and wonky floors. Lovely room , comfortable bed, great shower and excellent breakfast. Wecoming team pf staff, good bar and beers Right in the town.

We love this hotel & this was our 2nd visit in Abergavenny during last 3 months! The more expensive rooms are large & historical with exposed beams in the attic rooms! Breakfast is awesome with wide choice of options! The hotel is in the heart of old Abergavenny & everything including the ruined castle is in walking distance! Enjoy!

I can't comment on the room as we didn't stay over. We visited to attend a Wake. The staff we very attentive and polite. Neatly dressed. The food was a buffet hot and cold. Very nice, tasteful, well presented. I would eat here again for lunch or evening meal. Or just call for drinks

Everything we visit Abergavenny we always pop in for a pint. The bar staff are fabulous

My Wife and I had meals here recently. The starters of salmon fishcake and pork bites were excellent. Downhill after that! The cheeseburgers were bland and tasteless accompanied by this cheap chips, no presentation at all. A waste of money and be advised don't dont dine here!

Always & Every time we visit we share THE MOST EXCEPTIONAL "Salt & Pepper Squid" which is accompanied with THE MOST DELICIOUS "Sweet Chilli Mayo" followed by The Steak Sandwich which they are willing to "tweek" for us-ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! An amazing hotel with wonderful staff. We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. A beautiful period property, great bar, food and rooms. But it’s the guys that work here that take it to another level. They are friendly, polite and can’t do enough to help. Especially for my wife that is disabled. Above and beyond doesn’t even come close. They made us so welcome and their kindness turned a lovely weekend to celebrate Aunty Shirley’s 80th (or 70th depending if you asked Shirley) into an exceptional one. Abergavenny is a cracking town and made even more special by having such an amazing hotel, bar and restaurant in it. Sacha has created something very special and her team do her proud. A few of the guys we got the names of are below, and if your name isn’t here, we are sorry - you are all great people. The chefs, the cleaning team - everyone that we met in person and behind the scenes. Keep doing what you are doing, it makes such a positive difference to people. We came here for a Christmas dinner as a group and had an excellent meal. There is free parking within a 5 minute walk of the Kings Arms. All courses were delicious and the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed it, great for a large group, Thank you!

Lovely hotel, lots of character, we stayed for 1 night in the Sugarloaf room, really lovely, just watch your head on the beams and be careful on the steep climb to the room, both of which added to the ambiance of the place, service was excellent and the breakfast was 1st class

Wow what an amazing evening. Booked Christmas Party. The food was 1st class, 14 clean plates per course. Service was perfect and The Black Rat Effect band for entertainment were brilliant. What an enjoyable evening and everyone said we will be back next year and will be back as individual groups before. Thank you King's Arms and their staff.

Stayed here for the second time last weekend. This is a fabulous hotel full of character - we love the old beams and uneven floors! Great location in the town centre. Service was excellent, the staff here all clearly work very hard and are dedicated. Food and drink also very good, especially the breakfast, don't think we've had anything better than a Kings Arms breakfast! We will be back...

The place was full up but they asked us to wait for five minutes in the bar and the large upper room was opened for about three parties. Excellent chicken slavacki (?) and veggie ciabattas. A very nice pint of Herefordshire pale ale, too.

We've just returned from our second stay at the Kings Arms Hotel. The hotel is full of character and superbly located in the town itself. There is a free public car park a few minutes away (payable on Tuesdays). Breakfast is delicious and substantial. We also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant. This was a birthday trip, and the staff made us feel especially welcome. It's entirely possible we will be back next year.

Lovely place for a stay, we arrived at very short notice but the room was great and great atmosphere. Breakfast was fantastic too, will definitely visit again when in the area.

We had a very enjoyable Friday night stay at the King's Arms Hotel. We had lunch, breakfast and drinks in the bar. The food was very tasty and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay; they genuinely couldn't do enough for us! We would definitely come back.

Stayed here for 1 night midweek recently. We had a king size room which was a lovely size and very clean. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom was also a decent size. We did not eat in the hotel but the food we saw coming out looked fabulous. Breakfast the following morning was really good and a varied choice. Drinks in the bar were also reasonably priced. There is is no parking but a pay and display opposite the hotel which is reasonably priced and another one which is not far from the hotel which is free. If we were in Abergavenny again this is where we would stay.

This is one of the friendliest bars with some great quality food as well. We had the souvlaki chicken and the squid as starters but the food , ambience and service was really good. Very welcoming pub in wales.

I wanted to try this place out as I have booked a Christmas meal here. It’s was very busy but also spacious. Fast service and the food arrived very quickly. I’ll definitely come back.

Spent 2 nights for our Birthdays, room in the attic, number 7, quaint, cosy and very clean. Staff professional and friendly. Breakfast very good. Location brilliant.

Great food, drink and atmosphere.

One of the most attentive team of staff at any hotel I've stayed at - a lovely group of people. Nothing was an issue - and all seemed willing to drop anything they were doing to assist. Room was spacious and had loads of character. Sounds travels a little, but we can expect it to be in a pub/building that age. Bar area is cosy/chilled. Breakfast was good - can't comment on lunch or dinner.

We went for a meal. 13 of us in total this time and really enjoyed it. I cannot comment on the rooms as we did not stay. I am disabled and the staff could not help me more, taking my rollator up the ramp and then supporting me as I could not push the walker myself (quite steep). It was very busy but nothing too much trouble. Thank you, we will certainly come again.

Booked for Sunday lunch, which was excellent. Very well cooked and presented, lovely pork, and veggies that were way more than just the bit on the side. The staff were really attentive and helpful. I can see why it's a busy, bustling place to visit. The bar looked nice, too. I really enjoyed coming here.

A female waiter, short dark hair - was the most rude & horrible person today while i asked if my gentleman with dementia could sit on a bench without ordering food, briefly. Will not be coming back. A vast difference at the Trading Post next door who are the best!

Love The Kings Arms. The service is great and it's a good place to meet up with friends.

Had sunday lunch, was very good and reasonable price, booking recommended

This is a very popular but upmarket restaurant, serving excellent meals. On this, our first, visit my wife and I enjoyed Sunday lunch. She had the excellent sea bass and I had roast beef with all the trimmings. The fish was white and fresh and the beef was tender and beautifully cooked. The veg was plentiful with good variety. There was just enough room for a dessert. My wife had tiramisu, as she is a bit of a connoisseur of that dessert. She said it was delicious and one of the very best she has ever had. I enjoyed the orange cheesecake which was smothered in a chocolate sauce. Excellent!

Ate for the first time last Saturday. Ordered salmon which came with polenta chips so asked to change to chunky chips. I had to pay £1.00 for the change. My meal arrived with 6 chips, my husband was most fortunate to get 8 for his “upgrade “. Very disappointing. I emailed hotel to express my disappointment but they could not be bothered to reply

Beautiful room, very good food. We were a party of 11 and everyone was served hot food at the same time. Fish and chips was amazing according to my father-in-law. Service was very good, too. First time here but will definitely return.

Spent an hour outside this lovely old pub with live music entertaining us on a Sunday afternoon. Loved it! Nice seating area to front gave continental vibes. Everyone was having fun. More of this please. Just a disappointment it ended to soon.

Did not stay here so cannot comment on accommodation but it was one of the few places in Abergavenny serving dinner without a reservation on the night we were there. Good service and the food was satisfactory. Live music added to the ambiance.

Great pub, for various occasions & events. Live music once a month, great Sunday dinners & dog friendly. Service & owners are lovely.

4 of us stayed 2 nights in the accommodation. The rooms were above average and had very good bathrooms. Although we did not eat there in the evening, the breakfasts were excellent and the staff were friendly and under good management.

Attended a wake here . Excellent service great atmosphere staff friendly and efficient food very good.

My food was so delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. Peppercorn sauce and truffle and parmesan fries were to die for!!! The pubs is so is quaint and has so much character. Service was great and the staff were so friendly. I would highly recommend coming here and it's a great on a Sunday say sitting outside.

We've eaten a number of time in the King's Arms restaurant & came today for the Mother's Day lunch. It's a lovely, rustic setting, with a large restaurant & a few smaller rooms set up for dining. The staff are pleasant, friendly & very accomodating & there's always a nice selection of food on the menu. We were 3 adults & 2 children. Three of us opted for the 2 course roast lunch & dessert @ £23.95, the youngest 2 had a kid's meal & dessert @ £6.95. Everything was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection & there was plenty of veg & gravy. The kid's meals were a decent size too. My only negative regarding the meal, was that there was garlic in the vegetables. I do not have an intolerance, but I dislike garlic with a passion. This wasn't specified on the menu & I feel it should have been. With regards to the bill, unfortunately we didn't realise until we'd got home, that we'd been wrongly charged. Instead of the offer price on the roast lunches, we were charged individually for each item. Not a huge difference in price I know, but still still wrong. My advice, check your bill before leaving. UPDATE - after reading my review, I was contacted by Maria from The King's Arms, who apologised for the mistake with the bill. She has sent me a voucher as a token of good will, which was an unexpected, but lovely gesture. Thank you Maria 😀

We had dinner here on Friday night the food and service were both very good but for what we had I thought it seemed a bit expensive it was the we were told a service charged had been added, £5 per person a £20 tip was expensive 😳

We had a lovely meal. Staff were very good. I didn't realise we we're paying nearly £20 service charge. Which was optional, but not explained. We think it was far too much tip. 2 guests only had fish and chips which was cheaper than the service charge. We were going to pay a tip, but not that amount. Disappointed at the end, because we didn't know it had been added on. Probably won't come again for that reason

Only went to the pub, not the hotel. Loved it there.

Came for dinner on a Saturday evening. Loved the live music and beautiful old building. Food was nice but not special special.. good quality pub stuff nonetheless. Rather taken aback at the automatic £10 service charge added to the bill though our server explained that could be taken off on request.

Love, love, love this cozy and vibrant pub. It is fast becoming an end of week/work get together. Have yet to sample the food but it won't be too long before I do 😉

Attended a ladies lunch meeting and the food was beautiful, the service outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. The place was buzzing and I would definitely recommend for lunch or a drink. I have been lucky previously to see the rooms which are also high standard and worth considering if you are looking to stay in Abergavenny.

Really terrific Sunday lunch. Service was polite & attentive. We chose the leek and potato soup and mackerel pate to start; followed by the topside of beef and belly pork as mains. Desserts were lemon & lime cheesecake and the cheeseboard. So pleased we came and would certainly come again. A big shout out to all the Team. 😉👍

Seated in back of restaunt felt a bit like a canteen although staff were excellent went for Sunday lunch soup wad nice but luke warm roast was swimming in gravy and veg looked dry chocolate brownie was to wet overall very dissatisfied

Possibly one of the best places to eat in Abergavenny, excellent freshly cooked food and excellent service! The outside areas are great on a sunny day … all served by happy waiting staff ! Great menu for lunch and dinner … Inside is dog friendly too .. Would highly recommend

Out with the family for an early Sunday roast. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member and ushered to our table inside. All in all the location, staff and especially the food all made it a very enjoyable experience. Menu did cater for vegan/vegetarian however my lot stuck into the roast beef and pork belly. Excellent starters and desert options. My only criticism may be that the menu is somewhat limited to 4 or 5 items for starters, main and desert each.

After numerous visits, still love returning to this top boutiquey hotel. Would highly recommend 👍 Comfortable rooms and all a little different. Great breakfast and dinner, a nice bar area all capped off with some lovely people at the helm and on the floor.

Lovely venue for a party, nothing is too much trouble for the professional and friendly staff and the canapés were out of this world.

We have family who live in Abergavenny but due to house moves there were no spare beds so booked two nights B&B here. We were called to say that there was a 40th birthday so it might be a bit noisy, which we thought was nice as it warned us. We know the venue and had a nice room with a comfortable bed and nice en suite. Breakfast was very nice but we had to pre order ( not an issue for us). We would stay again without hesitation.

Skirrid sausages, mash and greens and sea bass with potatoes and wilted greens, plus a side of triple cooked chips, pot of tea and two J20’s for £44.50 Very happy with the food, the service and the ambience and will definitely return!

We have had a fabulous stay over Easter , This hotel is in a fabulous location with a 24hr car park opposite just off the High street , we received a lovely welcome and out cases were taken to our room , as we booked direct we got £10 off food or drinks. Room was amazing spotless with a stunning comfortable bed gorgeous bathroom with loads of high end toiletries and soft fluffy towels and everything you could need including bottles water a large selection of coffee/teas etc , an air conditioning unit , large Tv , comfy leather settee loads of hangers , earplugs , books and loads of plug sockets we had a stunning room on the top floor we loved it . Every single member of staff were amazing and attentive , we ate In The restaurant on the Saturday evening and food was 5* and excellent value for money. Breakfast was pre ordered and worked brilliantly very high quality ingredients cooked to perfection one of the best breakfast we’ve had and we travel a lot. Locals were really friendly and had some great chats in the bar they also have tables in the square in front of the hotel too. Would highly recommend this hotel we will definitely be back the manager deserves full credit for the way she runs this business 5*

We met family in the King's Arms in Abergavenny, we hadn't been there before, neither had our family . It was half way for both parties so was an ideal place to meet . The staff were welcoming and friendly, and we had the best Sunday lunch we've ever had , it was delicious. It the first place we been asked if we wanted our beef pink or cooked through , that was wonderful. The vegetables were delicious, and the cheesecake sundae was amazing. This was our first trip here but definitely won't be our last .

What a lovely atmosphere. Popped in for a few drinks and some lunch, all staff were clearly rushed off their feet but could not do enough for us. Such a credit to the owners for employing top Calibre staff. Our server Emily was attentive and cheery. Next time we are in the area we will definitely pop in again.

We stayed here in August 2019 and loved our stay in this beautiful hotel. And so when we decided to take our first break since the lockdowns of 2020 & 2021 it was an easy decision to come back. We were not disappointed, the hotel, restaurant and bar were spotless, the staff were the most welcoming bunch of people we've come across in the hospitality environment. Our room was great and we were delighted that the whirlpool bath was still there. Bed was really comfy. Breakfast was plentiful and of real quality ingredients. The bar was a great place to relax each evening. Great to see the hotel got through the lockdowns and has maintained or exceeded the great experience we had previously. We highly recommend this hotel, especially the room with the whirlpool bath!

I stayed here on business and am I glad I did! Everything from start to finish was exceptional - great food and drink, comfortable accommodation and most of all the staff couldn’t do enough and the service was flawless.
