Called in for lunch on Friday. Lovely staff, all friendly and helpful We had a Lamb Flat bread and a warm Chicken Caesar Salad Good sized portions and both were really tasty Good strong coffee too! Plenty of free parking, interesting building with large outdoor area We'll be back!

Our experience of this place seems different to many others in the reviews. When we went, we were the only customers there, for a meal and a couple of drinks, it felt odd, the place is huge. It was dog friendly, the beer was fine, the food was ok, but the staff were just a bit too laid back. Maybe I'm getting old, but I did not like the atmosphere, certainly not for an evening meal anyway. I suspect this is better suited to breakfasts and lunches before/after a day of activities in the area. There was a very corporate vibe, David Brent would be right at home here.

The highest stacked breakfast bap I have evebt had post parkrun. Lovely friendly and welcoming - quality food and reflects in the price. Highly recommend

Oh WOW hidden gem…… superb location, delicious food and the staff were super. We must have passed this 1000’s of times without realising it was here but it’s definitely worth a visit (every time we pass)…. We’ll be back a week today on the way home. Dog friendly too and views lovely 😊

Group of 8 feeling very hungry after being on the lake. The staff were very welcoming, the food was delish. The food was hearty and there was a lot! We had a range of burgers, wraps and dirty fries.

Having spent the last 9 months sampling the Sunday Lunch at all the decent eateries in the Bala area - we finally hit the mother lode. Take the time to walk 4 minutes here from Bala High Street - it’s worth the shoe leather and there’s tons of free parking. There’s a little wait for the food to appear, but that’s a good thing because this isn’t a conveyor belt carvery experience. The moment the plate is set down in front of you it’s clear that everything is prepared and cooked to order. The broccoli was snappingly fresh and perfectly steamed, with beautifully roasted carrot, fluffy Yorkshire puddings and well-seasoned red cabbage. The peas looked like they had been shelled on the way to the table for once they didn’t have the tell-tale dimples from sitting under a heat lamp. Crucially - the roast potatoes had colour and crunch. The beef was a locally-sourced quality cut which had been cooked with the respect it deserves, and there was loads of it. £13:50 for gourmet roast beef served by cheerful attentive staff with a beautiful view out over the Rhiwlas estate; it’s a steal. There’s nothing out there that comes close. Thanks to Gen, Gina, Bev, Callum and Logan for looking after us so well.

The outdoor space for children is the highlight of our meal here. The food (Sunday roast) was OK but not the best that we had had as the potatoes were quite dry and the chicken (which one of my children had) was coated in herbs and tasted like fried chicken, not roast.

Thank you to Zoe and all the staff for hosting our family and friends for a Christening celebration. The food as always (roast dinner and vegetarian roast veg flatbread with pizza and chips for the children) was extremely good and received excellent comments from all our guests. The setting allowed all the young children to run and play for hours. We have been to the Hwb many times and have never been disappointed. Thank you again Zoe.

We had a lovely meal here on our first night camping nearby. Good value for money just a shame I didn’t see the specials board til we’d finished. The kids pizza was ok but one of those basic small ones but came with ample chips etc. The lamb burger was ok but perhaps the bagel roll was a little tough. The chilli was good. This place is a hidden gem. Tucked away on the road for the old visitor center in Bala. The food was served in converted barn with stunning views of the surrounding hills, impressive on a sunny day as today. The Sunday lunch was the BEST we ever had. All chose beef which was so succulent. All the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Callum the chef is a lovely lad , who we met later in the day checking we enjoyed our meal and remembering us! Better lunch than Plas Yn Dre by far and less expensive. Our new go to place for Sunday lunch in Bala. Highly recommended.

Best Sunday lunch for a very long time. Very, very good. Wife had beef and I had the pork. Both very impressed, also washed down with some Somersby cider, perfect.

Visited for lunch with our two spaniels. Genevieve greeted us and made a big fuss of the dogs making them feel very welcome. I ordered the Dirty Chilli Dog and what followed was hands-down the best chilli dog I have ever eaten. The chilli was made with patience, love and brisket and bursting with fresh ingredients; pea shoots that looked like they’d just been picked and a succulent selection of beans. The sausage was bursting with paprika flavoured goodness and was definitely charcuterie level quality. Let’s not forget that delicious yoghurt coleslaw. Great first meal at Yr Hwb - we will be back frequently to try the rest of the menu. A foodie’s paradise in amazing surroundings, well- priced and with staff who clearly love the place and keeping people fed well.
