The best restaurants in Penally Pembrokeshire West Wales

We visited Penally Abbey for the first time in November 2022, where we got engaged a short walk away on the beach, and then again in September 2024, for a short break straight after our wedding. In 2022, we stayed in room 6, and this time we stayed in room 5. Both rooms are absolutely stunning with amazing views of the sea. Penally Abbey is so beautiful, and the team are helpful and friendly. We love the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful setting. We had dinner at Rhosyn, which was great, and enjoyed cocktails from the bar. It was lovely to be welcomed with coffee and cake on arrival. The location is absolutely beautiful. As well as a walk along the beach, I'd recommend checking out local walks in the area, we particularly enjoyed Barafundle Bay and the Bosherston Lily Ponds. On both visits, we had issues when we planned to go out for dinner in Tenby with the trains being unreliable due to the single track and a lack of availability of taxis between the hotel and Tenby at "peak" times. Obviously a very pleasant walk along the beach at low tide, but high tide/night time it's less easy! So if venturing into Tenby for a few drinks, I'd recommend pre-booking taxis and perhaps not relying too much on the public transport!

Super Sunday Lunch. My wife and I enjoy our Sunday lunches out, and Tenby offers many great options and Trefloyne is top of the tree. I enjoyed a fabulous roast beef, fresh vegetables fabulous yorkies, my wife not a meat eater picked chunky cod, and left a clean plate. All this followed by a lovely dessert sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and a lovely pot of warm chocolate sauce for good measure. What elevated the experience for us was the wonderful staff and the ambiance of the place. It was very busy hardly a table to spare and yet we were made to feel as if we had the place to ourselves. A big round of applause for everyone, thank you.

Went for Sunday lunch we were not disappointed. Had the garlic mushrooms started best I’ve had in a long time. I went for the oap small dinner as I had the starter & couldn’t finish it. Food was hot and veg very tasty & plenty of it Will definitely go again Highly recommended

Great for children (and us adults) to feed the cutest of farm animals, set amongst picturesque surroundings. Quality food and hot drinks, selling local produce also homemade treats as gifts. Highly recommend 🐑

Just beautiful and romantic, couldn’t fault this restaurant, service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. The decor was original but with a modern twist. Would highly recommend this venue

Was very quiet when we went as it was a Sunday evening off peak. Service was great, friendly and professional. Food was fantastic great portion sizes, not too much which can be off putting but plenty for us.

Polite, friendly and chatty staff. Food amazing and excellent choice of drinks highly recommended.

Spent a week here in a tent. Everything you need for a campsite. I would definitely visit again if I'm in the area again.

Had platter for 2 and was stunning, price seemed a lot until it came to the table there was enough for 4 meals so the staff supplied a large silver takeaway tray and home it came, next days Lunch sorted. Highly recommend.

If you are somewhat fed up of trying to find a table in an overcrowded Tenby pub or restaurant at this time of the year, then why not take a short drive towards Pembroke, next to Penally station, you'll find The New Overlander pub and restaurant. It will be worth the drive. Simple, yet delicious home cooked meals, well presented by accommodating and welcoming staff. If you are not the driver, try one of their many cocktails to conclude your visit.

Cannot comment on food yet but a very helpful delivery driver who put himself out to show us the way to our caravan which we could 'nt find in the dark LOL

Having own a caravan with Haven for over 20years we decided to start using their facilities more . At the beginning of the season we had some very pleasant experiences in the dining hall but unfortunately yesterday was a disaster! I appreciate it’s at the end of the season but there was no excuse for the sloppy food and service we received as there were plenty of staff on duty . Our carvery was just slopped onto the plate with the gravy running all over the sides with no attempt to wipe it , food cold , no desserts but ice cream available?? Perhaps if the team were banned from using their mobile phones and talking about their social lives while on duty and paid more attention to detail then it might help !

Very quick service, hot and of course tasty. What more do you want . Yum yum
