The New Overlander in Pembrokeshire

My sister and our friend Margaret booked 3 nights B/B at the New Overlander. The choices for breakfast were amazing, we also had two evening meals, the food could not be faulted. Home cooked, absolutely delicious, great choices again. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much for them. We would definitely return to the New Overlander and highly recommend to family and friends. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Cracking hotel with a great owner(Karen) and staff,nothing was to much trouble.Gave spot on information regarding the train times(station 30 second walk away)Ditto taxi info.Ate evening meal twice and was good quality at an affordable price,breakfast was also very good and plentiful. My room was clean and warm on arrival and everything worked as it should.This is a short walk from the golden beach, through the golf course,you can then take a leisurely stroll into Tenby.All in all a fantastic stay and will be back.The hotel really is in a prime spot to explore the coast all the way to Pembroke and beyond. Remember,diesel on the chain.

The staff were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.the front of house chap was so kind to us and made us feel so welcome . Food was homemade and of a superb standard . Very clean .

Fabulous meal we had the garlic mushrooms and brie then both had the belly pork which was totally fantastic.decently priced bottle of vino and lovely friendly staff.would highly recommemd

We pulled into the car park & our hearts sank. It was nothing like the image on booking.com would have you believe. An old caravan that appeared inhabited one end of the car park & an old car with flat tyres by the main building. From checking reviews after arrival, I saw we were not the first to have this reaction. Really not a good first impression! That said, we received a warm welcome inside & our room was clean & very comfortable. The sea view we paid extra for was a bit of stretch but you could see it in the distance from the velux roof window. Being in the roof space we kept bumping our heads on the ceiling by the bed. No fire exit information that we could see anywhere. We decided to try the evening home cooked meal but it was a bit disappointing as it lacked flavour & seasoning. Breakfast was good. Fruit, yoghurt, cereal & several cooked options. Good location for Tenby. It has the potential to be a great place if it sorts out the outside area & makes slight improvements to the food, which isn’t bad but could be so much better. For £3 more we had an amazing meal at a pub elsewhere that was a whole different level of cooking!

If you are somewhat fed up of trying to find a table in an overcrowded Tenby pub or restaurant at this time of the year, then why not take a short drive towards Pembroke, next to Penally station, you'll find The New Overlander pub and restaurant. It will be worth the drive. Simple, yet delicious home cooked meals, well presented by accommodating and welcoming staff. If you are not the driver, try one of their many cocktails to conclude your visit.

Upon arrival, the young ladies behind the bar made us very welcome, asked us to find a suitable table, then they would come to us, for table service. We had a infant with us, so required a high chair, this was sorted very efficiently. The ladies came over to us with suitable menu's and requested if we would like any drinks to begin with. These were ordered, then we chose our food. Order was taken, food arrived in a short time and we all found it very delicious. Welcome, service, ambiance, staff were of a high standard. We'll done!!

Look good from the outside was recommended. Granted they havent been for a while. We booked for Sunday lunch. Very busy. Very disappounted with the meal. 4 strips of lamb bit chewy 2 boiled pots 2 roast pots hard carrots asked for some peas approx 2 dessertfuls. cauliflower cheese and broccoli. Swimming in gravy. Not cheap either. Sorry we wont be returning

Don't bother horrible food under cooked and a very rude manager! Vegetables were rock hard and beef was blood soaked.

Came last year. Returned this year and had 3 evening meals during our fortnight holiday. The food each time was exceptional. The belly pork was top of my husband's list of favourite meals. We will return when in the area.

Friends booked for 8 of us for 2.30 to 3 we were the first to arrive, we were asked if it was just drinks we said there was a booking for 8 to which we had a frosty look and eyes rolling, obviously the staff were not aware until they looked at the book!! The rest of the party arrived including the person who had booked, no table ready for us and the attitude of the waitress was disgusting.we we’re shown to a table not made up, one of the waitresses started to set it round us. We ordered food but one of the waitresses had such an attitude as if it was our fault they weren’t prepared for us, who ever is in charge certainly need to teach these girls manners and not to pull faces at their customers as they walk away!!! On the plus side the food was lovely complement to the cook but unfortunately wouldn’t go again which is a shame, we are local and not tourists and neither should be treat with rudeness!!!

We were just passing and looking for somewhere to eat with four adults, three children and a dog! Lovely dog friendly place. Great service. Good value for money and cheaper than eating in Tenby itself. We all had really tasty meals, delicious desserts and can’t fault the place. Toilets were clean and modern. Baby changing facilities and high chairs available. Would definitely recommend and stop here for food again.

We have just had a night stay and it was truly enjoyable. We had a lovely warm welcome, service was excellent lovely staff. Our room was lovely and clean with a beautiful view a bonus waking up to sun rise. The food was outstanding too. We will most definitely be returning soon.

Had an evening meal here on two nights while staying in Penally. The food was very good and the service friendly and efficient. Thank you to Karen and the girls for making our visits so enjoyable.

Fantastic hotel stayed 1st October with my wife abd friends staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was fantastic all home made abd onion rings looked like they was on steroids. Rooms was really nice great sleep breakfast was perfect after a heavy night. Wife lost her Pandora bracelet drooped out if bag rung hotel and cleaners found it and they going to post it back to her. Highly recommend a stay and we will be returning.

After walking our dog on the beach we thought we’d sit outside and have a bite to eat and a cold drink. I walked into the bar to order, there was a couple eating at a table in the corner and a lady on the phone who obviously worked there. A bell on the bar said ring for service so I did. A lady came out from the back and asked if she could help????? I asked for menus and was told they didn’t take food orders until 12, it was 11.45 so I didn’t think this was a problem so said we’d have a drink and wait. Oh no I couldn’t order a drink and was told I’d have to come back when there were more staff in at 12!!!!!! Really??? That woman couldn’t serve 3 diet cokes????? Totally ridiculous and although we have a caravan just up the road at Lydstep we won’t be back. Strange and totally poor service which even now I can’t quite understand

Decided to try here tonight as only staying up the road and really glad we did the food was fab I opted for the braised steak in red wine which melted in my mouth hubby had homemade steak pie and that is just what it was came served with vegetables and either chips or new potatoes excellent value for money, the staff really nice especially the young lady who served us looking forward to dining there tomorrow night as well

This is a restaurant for food conessours. A smallish choice of specialist dishes. All meals are freshly prepared - no heated up prepared stuff. Table orders only taken when the chef is ready to prepare hence the wait when pre meal drinks can be savoured....
