The best restaurants in Bryntirion, Laleston and Merthyr Mawr Bridgend South Wales

Went here for Sunday lunch, first time of visiting and was very impressed. The service was quick and polite and the food was amazing! Would recommend it and will visit again.

Very tasty meal served with fresh vegetables and cauliflower cheese. I really enjoyed the vegetarian pie and was pleased I had a Yorkshire pudding too and my own jug of vegetarian gravy. I had no room for dessert but just had ice cream, which was very tasty. The only thing I would say is the plates of vegetables are sufficient between 4 not 2 and I hated seeing all the waste at the end of the meal.

Wonderful food from an adventurous menu in a wonderful setting - quiet and relaxed with an oldy world feeling.

First visit yesterday after recommendation from family. What a lovely place...very impressed with the food..one of us had the full breakfast..the other had the breakfast wrap...both lovely. The decor very nice...friendly atmosphere and the staff very pleasant...Will definitely visit again...well done all .

I visited the restaurant today for a Christmas lunch. Lovely surroundings beautifully decorated for Christmas. When we ordered one of our party is allergic to garlic, I should have phoned to tell them this but did not get around to it. However when we all ordered Turkey we were told there was garlic in everything, I asked please could they make something without garlic. This was not possible because all the food is pre ordered in and just warmed up. This did not seem to sit well for such a lovely restaurant. They managed to bring a plate with Turkey greens and little else. I must say, the Turkey was very tough, Brussels sprouts too hard to cut, and the only carrot was fine. Come on you can do better than that. It did seem to me like a conveyor belt of food ready prepared in the kitchen and put on a plate, surely you don’t need a chief to do this, is this another way of cutting costs, I guess so, Maybe stick to deserts and coffee they were fine.

Working away and decided on our last night to go for a curry, all well polite and very talkative, 10/10 to all the workers, the food was absolutely stunning, served up in a nice sized portion and delicious 👌, such a shame we couldn't eat it all we was that stuffed..... definitely absolutely definitely will be going back there if we work here again 🤞 very VERY highly recommended, thank-you very much guys 🙏

Visited the restaurant lunchtime. Staff members were excellent very friendly and professional.lunchtime menu was very good. Many choices to choose from.Myself and another family member had Salmon which was beautifully cooked and served with a selection of vegetables.another opted for the lamb which was very good. Couldnt fault the meal.Very good Service. Such a lovely restaurant to dine in. We have already made a reservation to dine there again.

We ordered fish and chips and I was very impressed with the service. In particular Lewis who served us was very helpful and made the whole visit a pleasant experience.

Wow... what an amazing place, super helpful friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere, great prices and super impressive service. Met up with some friends after a long COVID lockdown and wow so glad we went here absolutely brilliant, will definitely be going back. Can’t fault and well recommended.

Eight of us visited here for a mid week birthday meal. We all had a fabulous meal at a reasonable price. A big variety on the menu along with the specials board. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, who is working while at college. We were offered extra chips and we were also given cream to go with a birthday cake we had brought ourselves. The lady in the kitchen was fab too, nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. I will definitely be visiting again.

Staying at the hotel next door for a wedding but popped in the mackworth arms for drinks however food smelt so good decided to have a meal first. It didn’t disappoint! Pub is so very cosy and welcoming. All the staff were so accommodating when we hadn’t booked but they fitted us in. Food was clearly homemade and delicious! We will be back soon to sample more.

Called in with mates had a few beers and food. Very good value for money the staff were very helpfull

Staff were lovely with our infant grandchildren. Food was great.

What an absolute disgrace. How can they charge so much for such inferior food. The fish was shocking, thick burnt batter and very little fish inside( more fish in a pkt from asda at £1per portion) Absolutely tasteless. This was my 1st experience with finnegans and def be my last.
