Superb Sunday lunch at El Prado today. Set menu was perfect, beef was absolutely stunning. Really good atmosphere. Lovely staff too!

Fantastic place, everything was perfect from the quality of the food served to the atmosphere. The food was absolutely sublime and staff couldn’t do enough for us. Martin and his team were just amazing! I honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough! Will definitely be making myself a frequent visitor.

Superb evening celebrating 🥳 with close friends last night. Had the Christmas menu for a change, excellent value for money. In fact was worth way more than £32 a head. Great atmosphere, great service and fabulous food as always. I have always had excellent food al El Prado, but now the team and the service given makes it my no one choice.

We meet up with the family for the traditional Christmas get together and had been recommended El Prado. We were not disappointed. From entering the restaurant to leaving we received attentive service and a warm welcome, and acknowledgement of our departure. Myself and my partner had calamari and bajan fish cakes. Our mains were Rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce cooked exactly to my asking, the rock salt was filleted at our table which added to the dining ambience. We just about managed a desert! Rude not to! Which consisted of baileys cheesecake and chocolate brownie. We will return in the New Year as our family felt we received good value for money,and all aspects accommodated. Thank you Martyn and team you did yourself and us proud, all within a lovely setting and great Christmas atmosphere.

We have eaten at El Prado 4 times this year, today was the 5th and the last. We booked the Sunday lunch for a party of 8. 4 of the party didn’t like any of the starters included in the 2 course Sunday lunch menu and asked if we could chose starters from the Alacarte menu. We were told this wasn’t an issue but that obviously we’d have to pay the extra cost for the starters but that they’d sort something. We were happy to pay the extra to have starters we wanted. Whilst waiting for our meal to come we were approached by a staff member and told that even though 4 of our party weren’t having the starter part of the 2 course Sunday lunch menu, we would still have to pay for them. I thought I’d misunderstood initially but it was clarified that we would have to pay for both the Alacarte starters we had ordered and also pay for the starters on the Sunday lunch menu that we didn’t order/eat. So we had to pay for 4 starters we didn’t order or eat. We were left shocked and disappointed. Beware even if you only want one course you will have to pay for 2. 😞

Did not book just turned up in a Sunday afternoon whilst passing , staff got us a table which was nice 👌nd quite Musial with walk ins seeking to be a thing of th past . Food was excellent and restaurant was very nice , Service was excellent and made us feel very welcome . Would recommend without hesitation

Excellent atmosphere, fantastic service and wonderful food! We attended on a busy Saturday night and couldn’t fault any part of our experience. The waiting staff are really warm and welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The quality of the food is outstanding and it was cooked beautifully. I have read a few negative reviews about el prado recently but my experience couldn’t be further from this. I would highly recommend a visit to el prado! We certainly will be going back!

This was a birthday treat for my daughter. I booked the table for the Saturday 16th A table for 3 for 19:15 pm. We had table 18 and the Resturant was extremely busy and this added to the atmosphere. The starter came in a respectable time and they were Garlic Mushrooms, Goats cheese and my very over cooked scallops. I told the waiter and he passed it on to the chef. It was a very busy restaurant so i accepted the over cooked scallops. Then came the main course of. 2x well done Sirloin Steaks with chips followed by my order of a filet steak ordered as rare and it came medium to well not even pink and at £32.00 just for the steak it needed to be right. The waiter asked how the food was and I was waiting to attract his attention to show him the result having cut it to see how it was presented/cooked and he agreed that it wasn’t as ordered and replaced it. My daughter and her partner carried on eating their food what was cooked as they asked. When the replacement filet steak came it was rare but was old and tasted awful with a very dry tang. So not edible so this spoiled the evening and with a bottle of wine the bill was £192.00. No comment from the restaurant manager and as he will have my contact information I will be expecting a response.

Over priced meal. Chips nice monkfish awful hake just ok. My wife had to pay for a salad instead of the potato side which would had made her ill. Won't be returning

I attended El Prado on the evening Saturday 21st July. We were a party of nine. Whilst the service was very good, the same cannot be said for the meal I ordered, which was the Salmon. When it arrived I really couldn't believe how abysmally shocking it had been cooked. The Salmon was served skin side up on some cold broad beans. The skin was greasy and not at all cooked in the manner it should have been. If Salmon is served that way it should present itself as a well crisped skin with tender succulent meat. The complete opposite had occurred! The greasy skin looked like it had hardly touched the pan. The meat had been crisped!! Indeed it was so overcooked and brown it had completely dried out the meat I find it incredulous that whoever had worked in the kitchen would be so incompetent in basic cookery skills. Due to it being so busy I did not complain at the time but later became so incensed that I emailed them I wasn't after a "Free Lunch" as compensation, I just wanted to find out how such appalling cooking had been allowed to pass out from the kitchen?? Their reply was that I should have mentioned it at the time. A fair comment but how about an answer to my question? No further reply was forthcoming and as a serious outgoing diner with friends we will NOT be attending this overpriced and over exaggerated establishment again. Had they bothered to explain the awful lack of salmon cooking skills then it might have been a different story. It appears they hire unskilled labour in the kitchen? As a party of nine I did not wish to create a fuss at the time as service staff seemed very busy and everyone else seemed to be satisfied with their orders. It was however noticed that what I had was not in expectation from the restaurants perceived standards recommended to us. I can, without hesitation and without malice state that it was the worst piece of salmon I have ever had the misfortune to be served. A truly awful eating experience.

My son took his girlfriend to celebrate her 18th birthday on Valentine’s Day. What an absolute disappointment for them. He ordered a medium to well done steak which was raw inside. See attached photo! Sent it back as totally inedible. Poor service in that they were treated like a pair of youngsters and not given the due respect they deserved like any other fully paying customer. And ridiculously expensive. We as a family will not be going back.

Haven't been to "El Prado" for a couple of years. Always enjoyed but the transformation is excellent, food was amazing, service great and good to see the place packed out serving great food. The renovations have also made a difference whilst keeping with the traditions. The venison I had was mouth watering and the seafood as always very good.

Visited for lunch on a Friday. We arrived early and were immediately greeted and offered drinks while our table was being prepared.We didn't wait long and were shown to our table - our drinks were carried over for us. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. The staff looked after us well and were very apologetic when my tea came a little later than my husband's dessert, but it was no problem. The place was busy and cosy, with all Covid safety measures in place. I will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone looking for excellent food and service.

Visited this restaurant at lunch time for my partners birthday. I thought 2 course menu was very limited and the 1 course menu even more so. Anyway my partner choose tue goats cheese starter and said it was nice, I selected the meatballs and they were over cooked, we also had a side of garlic bread which come dripping in oil. For main I had the sirloin steak which came over cooked and very very salty and my partner had tue beef medallions and said the same thing. The food/sauces were that salty that it’s all I can taste in my mother, half hour later. Would not recommend to anyone

Booked a family meal with children. Upon calling to check booking, we were advised they didn't provide high chairs (not stated on the website) due to having young children it was discussed with a member of staff that it was fine to cancel due to being inappropriate and not child friendly. I was told we would not be charged and if we were, we could have a refund. Got charged the next day, called to question it and they denied everything which was said and I was told I would not get a refund.None of the information was published on the website at the time of booking. Absolutely disgusting service from all members of staff and will never go to this place in any associated with the owners

We have been to El Prados many times, and whilst slightly overpriced we have always had good meals. The Christmas menu we had however was nothing short of terrible. There was no bread with the soup or seafood cocktail and the main meal was completely tasteless. The ‘Seasonal Vegetables” were clearly the frozen medley ones you buy from Tesco’s and there weren’t even roasties but boiled potatoes. I would suggest anyone going for a Christmas meal opts for the standard menu otherwise you will be very disappointed.The staff on the upside were very apologetic and accommodating and they were clearly embarrassed at having to serve such substandard food.

Annual girls’ Christmas lunch was below par. Frozen veg, plain turkey breast with BOILED (not roast) potatoes. Asked for cranberry sauce-never got it. No stuffing. I honestly had a better Christmas meal in the canteen at my workplace. Dessert and starter was fine. They don’t take orders at the table so we either all had to go up to the bar to order (8 of us) or write it down ourselves to order. Had to borrow a pen and paper off the waitress. It was odd. Never again.

Firstly I would like to start on a positive. I have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years and have some wonderful memories and experiences here, however after the way I was treated on Saturday I will not be returning. A large party of us booked to go for a family birthday and the service and food at El Prado has always been second to none. I ordered the sirloin steak to be cooked medium, first time it came out it was so overdone it was grey but being that we were a large table I understand completely that there were a lot of orders to get out and mistakes happen (we’re all human!) so I sent it back to be recooked as at £25 a steak I would’ve liked it cooked to my preference. I waited quite a while for my meal and when it came second time it was rare-completely raw on the inside, at this point my family had nearly finished so I declined a third attempt and thought I’d just have dessert. And to be honest I really wasn’t bothered about not having a main as we were having such a nice time.It was then that a young man came to the table (I was sitting with my newborn baby and my sister in laws whilst our husbands were at the other end of the table) he hovered directly over me and said, how can I help?! You’ve sent 2 steaks back, the first was cooked medium and because you sent it back we thought you’d like it more rare so that’s why we cooked it that way. He was so rude, his manor was bullying and condescending, implying that I was the one in the wrong and he made me feel so comfortable, but as I sat there holding my baby I simply replied politely that the steak was not cooked medium first time-it was well done and if I had wanted a rare steak that’s how I would’ve ordered it. He then said aggressively, well what can I do to make YOU HAPPY? Now if I was sitting with my husband I know for a fact this young man would never have spoken to me in such a belittling manor, he embarrassed me in front of my family and made me feel bad for just wanting a steak that was pink in the middle. They didn’t charge us for my meal but all the same I don’t feel I deserved to be spoken to so terribly. El prado when this gentleman leaves we will be back but until then you have lost loyal customers.

Booked for a birthday meal for a friend . It was the first visit for all three of us. Our table was not ready on arrival so we sat to have drinks . No - one ever came back to us to show us to our table , we actually saw an empty table laid up for three and seated ourselves. No- one came to take an order and so we went ourselves to the cold counter and order. We had to go back to the bar to get our own drinks too. The place was basically a noisy canteen with restaurant food. It was noisy , over head heaters made it uncomfortably hot , a bit like sitting I get a hair dryer, and the place was so bright . Absolutely no atmosphere, the bar staff were emptying the bottle bin as we were watering , adding the volume. The tables are so close together that everyone is on top of each other and chairs pushing against chairs. The staff that we did encounter were none engaging. We might as well as been in a service station! Will not be returning.

My first visit to this exciting restaurant. We found it easy to park and very well recently refurbished. Greeted by Simon who was very welcoming and made a fabulous first impression. We had a superb meal, fantastic choice and well presented. Will try and make room for a pudding next time. A special mention also forJoe who is a little star. I look forward to returning and would throughly recommend.

Today I visited El Prado for the second time after booking a few days ago. I was met by a polite lady at the entrance, who offered to show us to our table. On the way, we were approached by a man who stated that we didn't fit the criteria of the dress code! I could not believe what I was hearing, he was rude and very abrupt. Quite frankly I believe that it wasn't just the dress code that he was concerned about, it was more of maybe my skin tone did not match HIS criteria. We were dressed in sportswear as we were having Sunday lunch after a sports game, I asked him to show me exactly where in the confirmation email it stated about the dress code to which he couldn't because it wasn't written within. I am a very frequent visitor of The Custom House in Penarth marina also owned by the Martinez Family, not once have I ever left there without feeling 100% satisfied with the great service they provide every single time without fail. This manager is a disgrace to this establishment, because I know the food is great and the service is normally excellent. Very disappointed.

Very busy with a good atmosphere, lots of staff but not the most attentive service. Seems to be full of regulars who get looked after first. Food was good but prices are high £12 for two scallops? And £ 6:50 for a slice of brownie and an extra £2:50 for a very small scoop of ice cream . If I had known I would not have ordered it. As I did not see this until the bill came it left a bitter taste in my mouth £ 9:00 for a small desert. I doubt we will return as it’s expensive for what you get.Check the costs before you order and you should be ok.

Another excellent lunch! Great food, pleasant friendly helpful staff. One of our party today was Gluten Free and the chap taking the food orders was extremely knowledgeable and made ordering very easy so top marks for that. Highly recommend.

Visited for my partner's birthday with family on a Saturday Evening. The place was packed with a really good atmosphere, very busy but nice to be amongst. Food was high quality and can't fault the service. My only negative comment is toward the upsell at the counter whereby after choosing my fish I was then asked what kind of potatoes I'd like with my meal after that I was then asked what side of vegetables I'd like either green beans or asparagus to accompany it. I knew the potatoes were part of the deal and the greens were considered as a side dish but what I wasn't made aware of until the bill came was the asparagus I was sold at the counter was in fact a starter costing £6.95! If i was made aware of this at the counter I certainly would have reconsidered. Overall lovely setting and food and would definitely return.

Booked a table of 15 for our mums birthday, seated in the function room which was perfect as my 2 year old granddaughter attended. Service, food and atmosphere all excellent, cannot fault the whole experience. Staff were amazing

Visited El Prado last night Sat 16/10 for a 5-30 slot for two of us.We were seated very common a corner and was were made welcom immediately.We had a starter of scallops pan fried in garlic and prawns with avocado.Main meals was 10 oz mature sirloin and hake again cooked in garlic.We had a glass of house red wine each with was gorgeous (merlot).The food was the best,absolutely delicious.The atmosphere and settings is fantastic and the service unblemished.We will be back very soon.Thank you very much all at El Prado.

Saturday night so I phoned up to reserve. Table available at 9pm. Place was packed when we arrived. Fantastic wine, food and friendly staff. Table next to us had a baby and they were all banging on the table. Drunk family with baby. But I can’t blame the restaurant. Very difficult situation. We found out the family had been there since 6pm. They obviously took advantage of the situation. But forget about that. Enjoyable evening and I would recommend.

You will see from many of the other reviews that you select you meals from a counter and the display - it actually works very well. Extensive menu including a great seafood range. I had a steak and really enjoyed it. We were a party of 6 friends and the atmosphere was great. They were busy but it all ran smoothly. I gather the interior was refurbished recently and it certainly feels modern and stylish.

Not been here for a few years but what an uplift. Excellent renovations make it feel so light and airy but keeping the authentic atmosphere. Food delicious, good waiter service, extensive menu choices. Drinks a bit on the pricey side but well worth a visit. Nice clean spacious toilets. Looking forward to returning there.

We visited before Covid and then again last week. Its had a make over and is more light and airy but has retained its atmosphere.We love choosing our meals from the glass counter, so much nicer than words on a menu. Actually chose something I wouldn't have usually because I could see what the options were and everything was so fresh!A firm favourite for us with wonderfully cooked food and great service from the team. Recommended and will return.

Decided to try this restaurant having not visited for some time due to Covid, could not believe the change in the place it looks fantastic the owners have carried out an excellent renovation opening up the front to an outside area which was sadly missing in the past. The whole restaurant is light and airy but still keeping to the authentic Spanish style it was renowned for, the food was amazing the staff super attentive can not wait to visit again in the evening for dinner with friends.

Excellent service, very friendly waiters/waitresses. Excellent customer service. Food cooked as requested. Took on board comment about dessert not tasting as described and sampled themselves and agreed. Good menu choice.

We were worried when Jesus put the business up for sale but all is well and it’s as if the business has turned full circle. Best wishes to Jesus on his retirement…we hope it’s a great new journey! Great new refit, must have cost a fortune, both inside and outside looks really fantastic.On the negative side, prices have gone up and portion sizes have gone down…careful, this is not Cardiff! However the food is still great, as is the service, as is the ambiance and these are important.The menu has subtle changes and Sunday opening and a Sunday lunch offer has been a long time coming but well done.All eight of us loved the food and laughed at the irritated gentleman who took our order…why not put the menu on paper table mats so people can be prepared when they view the produce? Why not have two outside terraces, left and right of the entrance and more of those large pots to create nice boundaries?Let’s have some special events with a Spanish accent. Serve Kanya’s of Spanish Beer. Emphasise Gin more, particularly Welsh Gins of which there are hundreds?Really glad your back and lovely to see staff old and new…keep pushing the bar and watch those prices and portion sizes…

was a regular diner here and a good honest spanish style (mainly)fish restaurant at reasonable prices, however this has been taken over by a small local chain with a style makeover, but a cut down menu, and prices have increased substantially, this is now an expensive restaurant for the type ,more style over substance, trying to be something that it isn't.

came here wednesday night with my boyfriend to celebrate and we couldnt have left more content than we was, the staff aswell as the food was brilliant and although we did knock over a glass of wine they took it excellently and tried their best to get it cleared straight away. one waiter especially (im very sorry i didnt catch his name but e had longish brown hair) made our night extra special. we will 100% be returning here again!

Decided to book on Tuesday evening as there were 7 of us. Good job we did as it was quite busy! Fab atmosphere although acoustics not brilliant. Great service & delicious food and wine. Really enjoyed & look forward to return trip. Not good if you’re on a budget. ;)

We had not visited this place before and found it by driving passed it when staying in PorthCawl. We were a bit dubious at first when we were told that we had to order our food at the bar, what was actually meant was the seafood is fresh and on display for you to choose and the menu's were written beautifully on signs above the bar. The staff are kind and friendly and the food is cooked beautifully.

Great to be back in the lovely place. They have spent a lot thought time and money here resulting in a fantastic place to go again. Lovely to see Florantino who gave us such a warm welcome as always. Food was outstanding and lovely people serving. Hopefully see you all very soon.

We had so much hope, the refurb, the number of people eating there, the number of reasonably positive reviews.Meet and greet was good and we were seated shortly after arrival. The start was good. Once seated we ordered drinks and settled in for an evening of fine wine and food. Decor pleasant, a good buzz of people, things should be good. 25 minutes later our drinks arrive. The food displays were abundant and there was plenty of choice for fish and meat eaters. We held back a little as the ordering counter was very busy for a period, but a little patience and you’ll find you get some space To yourselves to make your choices. We were staggered when we were presented with the starters….. the scallops, which should be the pinnacle were thrown into a watery red sauce in what can only be described as a cereal bowl. Oh, they were garnished with some slitherettes of whatever, and that was it. 3 scallops not brilliantly cooked, in a watery sauce……The asparagus wasn’t much better, in so much they were presented slightly better but weren’t the quality you’d expect at these prices. It brought back bad memories…… if you don’t order a morsel more you won’t get it. You simply get exactly what is stated on the chalk board. We had steaks, lamb noisettes and duck for main. Fat rendering is utterly important…… at this level of restaurant it should be mandatory and the kitchen shouldn’t allow food to leave that hasn’t been cooked to perfection. None of our meals had any rendering. We all thought the taste was OK but the fat waste on the duck, lamb and steaks was enormous. There was nothing good to say. Taste 5/10 at best. The wine was great…….Service was just OK. Some of the staff were uninterested and they had serious problems understanding that a face mask is to be worn over the nose and mouth. Ambiance 6/10Food 3/10Service 5/10Value for money 2/10Ridiculously Expensive 10/10Would take some serious convincing and a major change in the kitchen staff to tempt me back.Spend your hard earned money elsewhere, there are far better local restaurants.

Booked here for a Monday evening date. Place looks amazing & the counter is fab.Waited a while to be asked about drinks , so we got up & ordered food before anyone came to us.Had oysters to start which were amazing, followed by a second starter of fish goujons which were lovely. Our main course of beef medallions came far too quickly. Had barely digested the starters before mains were served.No fault in the food whatsoever, was lovely, just served too soon after the other!Will be back to try different mains as had the evening offer of two courses for £21.00.

Celebrating a friend's birthday this week. My experience was as follows:- ordered a starter and main course at the counter, having specified my dietary requirements (Coeliac) cannot have any food with gluten in. Was told the lamb koftas to start were fine. Wanted the chicken wrapped in bacon as a main, but after the young lady went to check, she then advised that it wasn't suitable due to the pate filling wasn't gluten free. She very kindly offered to request the chef prepare a PLAIN chicken breast served with the peppercorn sauce. Approx 15 mins later our waitress Linda came to our table to advise the lamb kofta starter was not actually gluten free. As time was getting on and I expected the other members of our party's starters were almost ready to come out, decided to just go with the main course. Eventually our main courses arrived and looked very appetizing (I was now quite hungry by this time) I cut into the chicken and took a bite, our waitress then came up and asked if my dietery issue was a serious one??? as the pate inside was not gluten free!!! I replied YES it was!!! Then offered to take everything back and cook a PLAIN piece of chicken etc!! I was not impressed to say the least! But not wanting to upset our friend's birthday celebration accepted. Although the final main course (when it finally arrived) tasted very nice I did not enjoy fully as everyone else had finish theirs. That afternoon having only had one small forkful of the chicken I was unwell (which was expected) I didn't receive an apology or discount for the meal at the end. The experience has put me off from going there EVER again!

Busy and noisy lunchtime. Waited 45 minutes to order including 20 minutes queuing at the cold counter. Food took a further 30 minutes to arrive. Cooked OK but not value for money. Overpriced and pretentious.Lost its way from previous family friendly place. Will not be returning anytime soon.

My wife and I visited for an early evening meal for the first time in many years, our first impression was the high standard of the refurbished premises and the warm welcome from the Martinez team, old friends from the Cardiff operations. My wife had Salmon, which was cooked to perfection and I had one of my favourites Hake in batter, which did not disappoint, all accompanied by grilled asparagus and chips. We enjoyed an ice cold bottle of Marqués de Cáceres Blanco perfect with fish. It won’t be long before we visit again and noticed it became very busy before we left with almost every table taken, always a good sign of a good restaurant!

First time back since the pandemic and refurbishment. As soon as we got through the door there was a wonderful welcome. Loving the new fresh airy lay out. Every member of staff gave this a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. These guys have jumped through so many hoops because of Covid and I can’t fault them at all. Tremendous staff. As for the food, spoilt for choice and delicious. Even in normal times these guys tick all the boxes but in these pandemic times can’t fault the atmosphere, service or quality of food. Out of ten, at least twenty. Well done El Prados.

Today my family treated me to a Fathers Day meal I’m the restaurant. Food was fantastic, service was amazing and welcome was first rate. We will definitely be back for a meal.

We were regulars at this restaurant pre-covid. This was our first visit since re-opening. Decor has been revamped but layout the same. Option of one course set lunch or two course (same as diner menu) at lunchtime, the Web menu needs updating. We selected the two course option, although not a huge selection everyone in our party of 5 found something on menu to suit their tastes. We could find no fault with food. Well cooked and presented. Lamb shoulder was a highlight. Wine list is varied to suit all tastes and priced reasonably. Service was faultless. Efficient, friendly and not intrusive. Full covid protocols were explained and adhered to.A great family lunchtime get together with a good atmospere.Thank you.

We ate here pre-covid and wrote a good review.The recent renovation is fantastic and hopefully we will be able to visit more when all this covid stuff eases and things return to normality. The new open kitchen is a great touch.Food, drinks & atmosphere was great - we had a good night.

We booked for an 80th surprise birthday party..All ages across the generations....Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly accomodating staff even though they were very busy..We all had a fabulous meal..There was a nourishing ,home made veggie soup,Garlic Mushrooms,Veggie Kebab ,Baked potato ,chips,variety of salad choices.. .Tasty piping hot Garlic bread for the non meat/ fish option..All delicious!! ..The selection of fresh high quality fish and meat was top nosh as usual...The service was outstanding and friendly..We loved it so much we booked for two weeks time..n

The vegetable soup was horrific full of oil.Visit if you like garlic oil as it comes with everything no other options.Not vegetarian friendly other than salad..If we had drove there we would of got up and gone else where but we had to stay as we had to wait for a accessible taxi..The bartender started serving us then moved on to someone else, left us standing there.A awful experience.We will not return

Lunch time menu is incredible value and the staff seem nice and friendly. No complaints at all. The salmon Goujons, steak and Hake are all great choices

We organized a surprise 40th birthday party and had the best time ever in El Prado...There were a variety of generations there in our large group abd everyone loved it The veggie option was nice with a choice of home made vegetable soup,Vegetable Kebab,Garlic Mushrooms,Fresh salad variety ,Baked potatio chips,Hot garlic bread..The fresh quality fish and meat were top notch and cooked perfectly..We brought our own birthday cake and the waitress served us cream with it at no extra charge..I want to try the chocolate orange cake on my next visit It looks delicious...The staff were all friendly.. We will be going back soon..

Back in December last year, myself and my family booked a table here to celebrate my father-in-law's 50th birthday!We had previously been disappointed after visiting last in 2017, there are zero vegan options (only a jacket potato is offered) We rang to enquire about booking a table of around 24 people, the owner advised it was a £50 deposit, which we were happy to pay.When we rang a couple of days later to book for the final booking of 20, the owner told me the deposit was £100. I begrudged paying this, but i went ahead as it was for a birthday.When we arrived, there was 12 of us there. Unfortunately, 2 families of 4 rang us just before arrival to say they could no longer come due to illness!We then managed to squeeze 12 around 1 of the 2 tables of 10 laid out for us. I went to the bar and advised the owner that we would no longer need that table and we were happy if he wanted to give it to any other customers.The way he spoke to me and the tone he used was absolutely disgusting, he had a go at me for not reducing table size, i advised we had only found out that night! He claimed it was not fair for him. At this point i looked around the restaurant and only 10% of the tables were currently filled, he was not fully booked.I then went back to the table to advise everyone what he had said and we decided to ignore him as due to previous encounters with him at previous visits and from friend's feedback we just knew this is what he was like.We then all went up to order at the counter which is in the centre of the restaurant and right next to all the other dining customers.he loudly said 'can i just ask who booked this' my husband raised his hand and he then rudely repeated everything he had said to me previously now to my husband loudly in front of everyone. My husband was getting very angry and stated 'i understand what your saying, but no offence, the restaurant is pretty empty, you took £100 of us before we came'The owner then raised his voice again, there was NO WAY we would now put money in this man's pocket. we left after only consuming £50 worth of drinks, so we were essentially robbed the remaining £50.we will never EVER visit here again! the food is overpriced, if you are looking for a nice brasserie please go to Poco Poco (Bridgend), Isabellas (Porthcawl) or La Cocina (Bridgend) ... you will find a lot nicer food and ownership here!!

Lovely staff, the menu hasn’t changed in 20 odd years and stuck slightly in a time warp, food was fresh and nice but I would say very overpriced . I wouldn’t rush back personally but I wouldn’t put people off trying for themselves

Once again an excellent visit to this braseria with my wife,we both selected the set menu, 2 coarses for £ 12.95. I had the onion soup and hake my wife had garlic mushrooms also with the hake, both meals were served by a very cheerful waiter.Will not hesitate to return.

Lunchtime at El Prado was on the whole, enjoyable. The food wasn't at its best, my salmon deep fried in breadcrumb was a bit burned. Very crispy and a bit hard to bite! I'm afraid I was disappointed with my cheesecake desert too. I found it bland, powdery, and a bit too firm. The decor and atmosphere was pleasant, but be prepared to leave at 2 o'clock, on the dot!!

Staff are absolutely amazing. The owner jesus was always smiling and being cheerful, all me and my family received was excellent service from the moment we got there til the moment we left. The majority of us has steak which was cooked to out individual tastes. Waiters and waitresses asked politely if everything was OK. We could say anything negative because everything was has we wanted it to be. I will definatley return to this restaurant. Thank you to Jesus and his lovely well mannered staff for an amazing experience and lovely Spanish feel in the restaurant.

Amazing staff. My first time at the restaurant with friends and I loved every second of my time there. My food was amazing I love steak medium well and this is my best I have had in years. Everything about my visit was of a high standard. I recall the gentleman's name as jesus. He made me feel welcome on arrival and made sure my visit was the best as did his staff. I will be back soon.

Rude arrogant owner spoils the beautiful restaurant, it is a shame the owner doesn’t like people and it shows

Had a wonderful evening last night in our favourite restaurant with our friends down from Dover.

Had food here and to be fair the food was nice and the service was great. Having spent over £200 and enjoyed the night, the response of the owner to my wife's phone call prompted me to leave a negative review.

It’s a real good quality food. A bit expensive if you compare to other places in Bridgend but it’s worth

When me and my partner arrived, we were greeted by lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble for them, if we wanted anything at the table which was pre booked, we had it. Drinks were ordered at the table and within minutes were on the table for us, the food was the best I have tasted, cooked to the highest standard ever. The owner who's name is jesus if I remember correctly brought out cake and candles for my partners mum which added to the evening. The food was so amazing that me and my partner will be back for another fabulous evening.

My first visit here and it’s safe to say I will be back , defiantly one of my new favourite restaurants.

Having booked a weekend away in a nice hotel we drove to the coast to enjoy a beautiful day as the weather was exceptional

This place is nice, but could be much better. The next day I went to El Puerto near Cardiff, which I though was great. My steak was not particularly tasty, although the mushroom sauce with it was fine. My partner's hake was excellent. Poor presentation of meat on a plate, begging the question, is that it?

Stayed recently in Laleston and came upon El Prado. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel extremely welcome by the owner and his wonderful front of house man. We loved the way the uncooked food was laid out so we could see exactly what we were choosing. The set price, 2-course dinner was excellent value and the fish dishes we chose were imaginative and delicious. The owner came over and chatted with us - a very interesting and friendly guy. Would recommend eating here unreservedly.

Just happened upon this restaurant while staying at the Great house hotel. Very Spanish look and feel. Good atmosphere and really nice food using fresh ingredients. Huge portions! Great value 2 courses for £18.95

On business in Wales - staying at the great house hotel and this place was a short walk away. Owned by a Spanish man who came to Wales 46 years ago. Great for fish, lots of variety. you go to the bar and select what you want and then it is cooked to order. really enjoyed the place

El Prado is still our favourite restaurant in the area and we have been regulars for many years now.

Never disappointed with this place !
