Excellent service first class absolutely friendly staff always very friendly.unfortunately finnegans have raised their prices yet again sorry to say the shop is empty no customers are not happy with the increase for the third time this year lovely fish and chips excellent service but your prices are far too high you lost a very good customer and others are saying too .lower your prices if you want to remain loyal customers and stay in business

Chips were cold and hard I will never go there again

Awful. Pie soggy micro waved slapped on top of mushy chips.Red curry sauce vile. All went in bin. Total waste of money

Really tiny portions. We don't usually come here. When I challenged the woman she didn't give a stuff and looked at me like I was mad. Chips pretty hard and cold. I really wouldn't bother using again. Best place us Tinos or oh my cod. Realistic potion size for the same money. Don't waste your time x

My husband bought 2 fish and chips at £25 absolutely awful, fish was overcooked, batter inedible really poor Have always used this chip shop as live on Broadlands but won’t waste my money again.

Sadly prices have gone up dramatically while quality of food has fallen quite dramatically. I paid over £11.00 for large cod and chips. The large is was dry and the chips were mostly bits of over cooked dry bits with about fifteen soggy chips. Now this place used to be the best around. They claimed some prestigious awards in the past. However my last two experiences well spaced in time have been leading to this review. so it’s not just a one off bad day as far as I’m concerned. On the plus side the server was very professional and he was well motivated towards me as a customer. Since writing this review it's improved so. It's back on my list.

Called in after work today 28/06/23 18.00 quit busy,order 2 large cod,1 large chips, regular mushy please. Very miserable young lady,called me to the counter, large cod was extremely small,so I commented, is the cod large,was told that's all we have left,so ime paying for large and not getting large.something like that. Large chips were ordered, 1 scoop didn't bother arguing, just felt totally humiliated, young lady slapped it on the counter,no bag,so i again commented, i don't need a bag then,completely ignored, £21.00 for what we get at oh my cod for £8.95.i will never enter the premises again absolutely disgusting.

So expensive with portions that get smaller each time you visit. Out of touch with reality and still living off an award granted 20 years ago. With so many other, great, fish and chip shops to choose from in Bridgend there really is no need to visit here.

Will never go here again, had 2 pastie's which cost 3:00 pound each 1 pastie was soggy and the other was solid,complained about the pasties and was told I can warm you up 2 more pastie's but unable to give a re fund asked for just 1 sausage and batter on its own and she gave chips with it when that wasn't asked for, and charged almost £20 high priced and the food aweful.

What a rip off!! They seem to have stopped doing batterless cod and I now know why. How else can you charge £7.75 for loads of batter and hardly any cod. Never going back.

Just bought faggets peas and chips. And extra gravy. Chips were pale, faggets were cold and very salty. The extra gravy was also salty. 0 out 10

I genuinely can’t believe the portion size that for £11 worth of food… a regular chips honestly gave 9 chips each for 3 people. I’m sure the portions become less and less each year with the prices going higher, and higher.

£7.75 fish, £5.75 small fish, well" when I say small fish it was more like a fish finger, how can they justify a small fish which is less than one-third the size of the normal sized fish for £2 less,peter's pie for over £3 taken out the pack and microwaves I could have bought one for £1.25 in Tesco's and microwaved it myself

it is good quality food and the fish is excellent, (since it opened I have only had one piece of fish with bones it). However after using this as our favourite chippy we have now decided to go elsewhere as the portion size is not reflected by the price.

I called in on Saturday at 8:40pm and ordered food. Some of the chips were burnt, the curry sauce was cold. Wont go there again the food was horrible and expensive

First class service and prompt delivery. Only downside was the fish,usually one fish is enough for my wife and myself,on this occasion. the fish was less than half normal size that I had to check that it was not a kids meal(even though it was v,tasty) for the price it was a huge let down

I really don’t understand the bad reviews cause this is the only chip shop we will use when we come to our caravan, everything is freshly cooked and the fish is outstanding, portions are also really good staff are always friendly and ready to help

Visited first time to finnigans in brynterion had sausage and chips the sausage wasnt nice even the dog didn't want to eat it and most of the chips were green and service was slow and price wasnt cheap especially not for a not so nice sausage and green chips.wont be going there again

Only giving a rating of 3 stars as the young girl behind the counter was working so hard to speed up the waiting times and was pleasant despite being absolutely backed up with orders. There is no coherent system in place for social distancing which just left many people standing outside in the cold for a long time. The food wasn't worth the money paid and the other staff member was really slow and didn't seem to care much about customer service. I'd like to emphasise again that the younger girl working was brilliant.

Very poor.unprofessional service was like walking into a playground of children, Rowdy staff. Stood at counter was ignored, i had to try get attention to ask about my order and waiting time. Very poor service will not use again. Waited a long tine in shop as delivery orders were being done even though i had allocated collection time. Poor service, too expensive.

Bought a tub of the hot curry sauce with a few other things, and to be honest the curry sauce was so salty it could not be eaten, as I did not want a stroke or heart attack (god help if you suffer from high blood pressure), it was like a pure salt sauce with a hint of curry, Will never buy again, Hint, taste before you serve the public. premium prices for very average food.Very overpriced. But must say the guy who served me was very polite & friendly.

Re Bryntirrion shop Ridiculous waiting times outside to be served!!! I'm in favour of technology re website ordering but it was awful.....30 minutes outside waiting just to be served and order to be taken When inside ignored for a while whilst the server was putting together the on line orders Won't return!

If you like wasting money and eating awful food, this is the best place to visit. I was charged over £6 for this fish it tasted exactly how it looks, not good. Not impressed with the response I got when complained. Will never come back, there are many chips shops around that are much cheaper and way tastier.

Great chippy, the chips were really nice and portion size was good. Prices were reasonable. The staff were friendly. Would visit again.

Not impressed when I was served up chips that had been kept warm for hours.. They were like warm when I got home and I only live around the corner. Won't be going back there. We supported them right through lockdown once they reopened. Not impressed with the response i had.

Absolutely awful be going here for the past 5 or 6 years always been great but this last couple of weeks its gone to the dogs price gone up portions sizes have halved they must be cutting their usual sized fish in half Absolutely shameful as company. Went there today girl behind count was the most miserable person I have ever seen and when I got home my fish was raw inside. Thats it I'm done with finnegans as a company I certainly won't be returning.

This was the most over priced underwhelming greasy chips I have had in ages. Avoid this place you'll only be disappointed and regret visiting this establishment.

We picked the right night for a stroll on the beach with some fish and chips. Tuesdays deal is 2 small fish and chips! Very nice and perfect amount.

Went here a few days ago, decent food, a tad expensive and the tail end piece of cod I had was very poor value for money considering the size, it was mostly batter. Will give it another shot, but would be tempted to travel elsewhere if this was a representative experience.

Ordered fish and chips and two large sausage in batter. Got the food home and started eating the fish to find the batter was rock hard and greasy, the fish was missing batter off one part and the white flesh of the fish had been over cooked and was brown and crunchy. Poor quality takeaway for sit down restaurant prices. I did message them to explain but got no reply. Disappointed as you have to wait for all the items to be freshly cooked so the fryer knew it was burnt and poor quality.

prepare to pay much money for not a lot of food! there are much better options close by, Tinos is great, also cefn glas fish shop is very good

OK food was of acceptable quality but far from the best. Nearly £9 for Take Away fish and chips. Only one size of chips available at almost £3 ! No child, small appitite or OAP sizes ! Yep these are difficult times and this family run chain of traditional take away outlets, sure know how to financially take take full advantage of the current situation. Oh and beware of the Best Before dates on soft drinks. My only hope is they are not so slack on food products.

The fish is good. The chips very average. Is it so hard to make good chips these days I have no idea why. Service a bit cool especially when prices are very high. Online over £12.50 for fish & chips .... that's without the delivery charge!! Others are better.

Ordered a Finnegans online to pick up at the CEFN GLAS take away. Got home to find that the chips weren’t cooked throughout and we’re still hard on the inside. They also looked very white and had obviously been taken out of the fryer too early. I’ve never had to return my meal in all of the years that we’ve been loyal customers. I phoned the store to say that I will be returning them so when I got to the store the boy who cooked the chips squeezed one of them and then returned to me to tell me that they were cooked!!!! How rude!!! I wouldn’t have gone out of my way all the way back to Finnegans if they were cooked. The boy who I believe is the owners son phoned his father to tell him that he’d checked the chips and they were cooked!!! His father wasn’t even there in person to see for himself. He just took his sons word for it. The boy humiliated me in front of customers and told me that he’d been cooking chips for 20 years to know that they were cooked!! If the customer says that the chips aren’t cooked then you need to listen to them. What you should have done was apologies and say that you will replace the order!! That’s all you had to do. But instead, you caused a huge scene in front of other people and completely embarrassed me. I asked for a refund because they weren’t willing to replace my order. I told the boy that I will not return after this and to my surprise he told me that his father, the owner of this business, said to tell me not to go back there!!!! Unbelievable! I’m not to go back because I returned my food because the chips weren’t cooked and you weren’t willing to just replace the order!!! Sadly, customers are not a priority here! Award winning or not, finnegans has definitely gone down hill and the staff are beyond rude!! There are far better chip shops in Bridgend area whose staff appreciate their customers and will go the extra mile to keep them happy. It would have been so much easier if you’d just replaced the meal but instead you’ve lost a customer and by the looks of things on trip advisor, there are far more bad reviews than good. You’ve had to refund me and you now have yet another negative review to add to the list of disappointed customers. The customer is always right. Without our custom you’d be nothing. I’m appalled by what happened earlier and you should be ashamed about telling me not to return. How disgusting. Maybe you should take some time to read the reviews on here. Most of them are about the chips and staff! Shocking!

We had a socially distancing afternoon tea party in my close. We all ordered fish and chips. Order was put in and paid for online.I had to go up at a set time round the back of Finnegan's and open my car boot. Food came out all freshly prepared and clearly marked what each bag contained. This was my first takeaway since lockdown and to be honest I was a bit apprehensive. But, it was so well organized, no need to enter shop or have close contact with staff.As to the food, it was pipping hot, lovely food and good size portions.

Ate at finnegans a couple of years back in Porthcawl and had a terrible experience. 45 minute wait time, undercooked chips and tiny portion size. I thought that it may had been an off day and decided to try again this year (a number of years on) and I have to say its no better than it was. Very average chips and still double the price and half the size of other chippy in the area. Bridgend has a number of good chippys to choose from, finnegans isn't one of them. If a chippy can't see how poor everyone thinks they are and sells the same portions, quality and for the same price years on then they really don't care about customers.

I think that it is disgusting this company has chosen the COVID-19 health crisis as a means to increase the prices they charge. They were already very expensive how can they justify putting prices up at a time of national crisis??

£22.60 - 2 small fish and chips, 1 portion of chips and a small curry sauce, was shocked when he said the price, should have walked away then...my fault. Will not be visiting again.

So glad that they have opened on a collection basis throughout this difficult time. The staff are always so happy and thoughtful! Nothing is to much and the food is a solid 10/10 Thank you Finnegans Fish Bar!

Never been disappointed in this immaculately clean establishment with freshly cooked food and very pleasant staff.

I had lunch here today and the food was excellent. We both ordered cod and chips and the cod was among the tastiest ive had and the chips were cooked perfectly. The service was good as well. Highly recommend it.

Decided to have fish &chips post rugby. Hoped that Finnegans would still be open we were unsure of closing time.Thankfully it was. Asked if they had haddock ? The lady preparing the fish said 2haddock left and she would make up fresh batter.The staff were really friendly and helpful. Kept us updated to how long our order would be. Thoroughly enjoyed our haddock & chips with 2 slices of lemon .

We have frequented this chippie for years... no more. You know you are going to have a very long wait you know it's expensive but on our last three visits the portion sizes are a joke. Always order regular chips not even being given a small size portion. We will not be back sorry. I have heard other customers complaining to the staff on this very subject so why is it still happening.

Great fish and chips shop, lots of choice and they do some great deals during the week which are worth taking up. If you want a drink I would suggest the Tesco just next door.

Really disappointed at our last visit a week ago. While the chips were lovely and freshly cooked, the fish was old with hard tail end and dried up old batter. It's certainly not the cheapest chippie to visit so it wasn't the caliber of quality we are paying for. Such a shame

Lovely fish and chip shop. Chips not greasy, and plenty of options for fish including a 'light batter' for those that don't really care for it. I recommend the childrens portions however - 4 pieces of fish and a portion of chips for much cheaper than the adults and just as good! Only problem is the price. Good quality generally means expensive food, and this is no different.
