The best restaurants in Porthmadog East Gwynedd North Wales

The food here is very good. Excellent sausage rolls, pies and Cornish pasties cooked each day. Wonderful mini quiche. Broccoli and red pepper with a beetroot crust, spinach and ricotta and balsamic onion are all delicious. The sandwiches are lovely. We had the ham, cheddar and piccalilli. The filling is very generous. Food can be ordered by phone. They also do hot drinks and a nice variety of other takeaway items including home made cakes. Overall highly recommend for the quality and value.

Various sausage rolls etc. we chose the sausage roll with cheese and bacon. Would recommend that. Staff very friendly. Well worth a visit

Only had breakfast. Typical Premier Inn buffet. Food reasonable. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Been holding off writing a review about this place but every time I pass it makes my blood boil knowing they have posters about “anti- abortions” and “pro life” etc. makes me sick to my stomach. Visited once (before i saw and knew about the posters) and had the stalest, most dry Quiche I’ve ever had. Will never return.

Fantastic home cooked food, and best value takeaway around. Chips are second to none. Both the burgers and curry are top drawer

Thursday 31st August 2023, my husband and I went back to the ‘The Welsh Highland Railway Tea Room’ in Porthmadog for the Malcolm Green's funeral wake and to celebrate Malcolm’s life. This was a very fitting tribute as Malcolm and his wife Non used to run the tearoom, sadly both now deceased. There was a nice buffet and we all sat and we spent time talking to friends and relatives and lots of love and memories were shared by all those who knew and loved ‘Malcolm’.

Delicious baked goods. Chelsea buns are my favourite but the kids love the cakes and iced buns. We get our rolls and bread from Newells every time we visit Porthmadog, wish we had a bakery like it at home!

Please do not advertise you accommodate gluten free without knowing what you are serving, even more frustrating when the customer politely asks if it’s safe for them to eat. I requested a gluten free salad, it was served with cous cous which I questioned, for the waitress to explain that’s something they were confused about however still continued to put it in front of me for me to eat! From then on no member of staff came to check on us further as I think they knew they were at fault. Appalling service I was left to eat something when I’d questioned it with no reassurance, also questionable if the pickled beetroot was gluten free (barley). Being coeliac isn’t a life choice it’s an autoimmune condition, do a little bit of research

Lovely fish and chips in the centre of Porthmadog. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and courteous.

Go-to place for a Chinese in the area, always good. The waiting room could be updated, seating area of some kind. Cash only unfortunately.

Great pub, on the whole the food was very good. I would highly recommend. Good beer selection as well, local beers from smaller breweries instead of the big names.

Called in Sunday tea time, got 2 portions of cod and chips freshly made. Sadly one serving had a long hair in and had to go straight in the bin. Very disappointed.

Popped in as an alternative to my usual coffee shop. It's okay.

Terrible food avoid don't waste your money my food my lasagne was oiley complaining given a drink ordered another meal not much better never eat there again
