New Yamin Chinese Takeaway in Gwynedd

Tried this place for the first time based on other reviews we'd read, and we were not disappointed. It's no wonder the phone is always engaged, thoroughly recommend it.

Very costly. Barely any prawns in the dish.Do not order the curry dish, as there is barely anything to eat. Just a run of the mill Chinese takeaway, from old fashioned Hong Kong times, which is now outdated ie from 20 years ago.

5 stars! Good, plentiful, cheap and a pretty girl at the counter!

We was on the local caravan site, we went here for tea, food was very nice and a reasonable price also 👌

Had a great takeaway from here last week. Really wanted a Chinese and this was the only one in Porthmadog. Loved all of the dishes we had, especially enjoyed the Chicken Balls, Char Siu with pineapple and King Prawn Chow Mein. Free prawn crackers were excellent too. Worth ordering ahead by phone as it gets very busy.

Pretty decent food here and great value. Compared to my local chinese, you get a lot of meat in each dish. Highly recommended and will be visiting again when back in the area.

Staff/owner very friendly. Food very tasty and reasonably priced. Wait times was under estimated, so we had a bit of a wait for collection. But it’s was worth it.

Our order was a 50 minute wait but well worth it. Our dishes were hot, delicious and great value. Would recommend.

Fed 4 people for £25 - good value for money. All delicious food. Only feedback is the salt&pepper chips, salt&pepper chicken included too much onion. Must’ve been equivalent of two wasted onions as we didn’t eat it.

Ordered special fried rice king prawn and mushrooms and soft noodles with beansprouts it was ready to pick up on time. Everything was warm and very tasty will definitely order from here again

While on holiday we tried this Chinese takeaway because of the good reviews and we weren't disappointed. Sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, mushroom omelette and chicken curry were all delicious. Good portion sizes and it's great value for money.

Decided to order from here as we would be leaving north Wales the next day. The wait for the food yp be cooked was long to say the least, but I think it was due to the fact they had been closed for a little while so everyone was ordering plus the eisteddfod was near so more foot fall in the town. Well we would certainly recommend this place as the wait was well worth it, food was hot, tasty and good size portions.

Read the reviews before trying out this takeaway and it did not disappoint. The store front is a little tired looking but the food was amazing, we had chicken chow mein, beef chow mein, prawn toast egg fried rice, seaweed and sweet and sour chicken, all had generous portion sizes. Every single dish was delicious, would use again if in the area.

Walked in on a Monday. Ten minute wait. Food was good. Crispy chicken in a barbecue sauce and salt and chilli prawns with soft noodles.

Lovely food, generous portions. Walk-in order 15 / 20 min wait, awesome. Chop suey special best I've ever had. Kung po best Mrs has had. On-street parking only.

Had a great meal from here at the beginning of the week. Thought I would try again. A mistake I won’t be making again. Got my order completely wrong and then proceeded to argue with me stating I ordered wrong. When I finally got my correct order the chicken was dry and chewy and virtually inedible and for sweet and sour had little to no sauce. The fact I also got overcharged for the meal just makes even more of a mockery of the situation. I would do the 30 minute drive to Caernarfon for a decent meal next time.

First night on holiday camping and didn’t want to cook, so we got a takeaway, best decision we made. Decent portions, very tasty food and quick service (15 minute wait).

£6.80 for a curry? Yes because not only do you get tub of curry, a tub of rice or chips are included. Chicken chow mein fore had to many vegetables but everything else was great.

Had the nicest takeaway from here last night whilst on our holiday at Black Rock Sands. Highly recommended

Filled a gap but wouldn’t rush back. Chicken chow mien had huge lumps of chicken. We had other dishes too, and while it as ok it just didn’t feel perfectly prepared. Huge waiting times of about an hour on bank holiday Monday evening but everywhere in the area had massive queues

Traditional Chinese "chip shop" takeaway. Good food, but service can be very slow - it's probably best to phone your order in (but be prepared for the line to be engaged). The salt & pepper chicken is particularly good.

I was in the area on holiday and wanted a good Chinese takeout. I was guided by the good reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. Even with the good reviews I was still surprised how good the food tasted. Waiting time was long but all good restaurants will have a queue of some sort. We spent £43.50 on food for 4 adults and didn’t even eat half the food. Portions are definitely reasonable!!!

Food was very nice had chips with curry sauce crispy beef and king prawn fried rice food was full of flavour and perfectly cooked definitely would recommend this to people

Absolute fantastic take away, popped in here last night after a long day on Snowdon and we count be bothered too cook, highly requemend staff members are friendly and patience, the food was fresh hot and very tasty the pizzas are a decent size and we'll worth the asking price. The kebabs. Are some of the best tasting kebabs we've had in a long time, absolute fantastic.

On holiday in the area and fancied a Chinese for dinner. Nice enough & reasonable value we thought. Asked for chicken and cashew nuts with no garlic but got back to our caravan to discover they’d not put any cashew nuts in it (Who asks for Chicken and cashew without the cashews?????) Sweet and sour Cantonese (usually a safe bet) was very sweet and lacking in the sour. Couldn’t eat it all. The noodle dishes were nice however.

So impressed with this takeaway, the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the satay dishes and salt and pepper chips- they were so, so good. The satay sauce is one of the best sauces I’ve ever had. Will definitely be ordering again :)

Lovely Chinese highly recommend

Don’t know what’s gone on at this place - last month (April 22) we had a takeaway and it was delicious but had one tonight (May) and it was disgusting - crispy beef in bbq sauce and crispy chicken in bbq sauce, both as tough as old boots, sauce was split and tasteless and nothing crispy about either of them, even the complementary prawn crackers were stale and chewy. Lad that took the order and money communicated in grunts and mumbles and had no customer service skills whatsoever! Will never go back there or recommend it anyone. Also ended up short of one main meal but were actually glad as it was so bad!

The best Chinese takeaway in the area. We have visited the area year upon year regularly having tried all the other takeaways we had overlooked this one as it used to be an Indian and didn’t notice it had changed as we had a break in visiting through the pandemic. We tried it for the first time this evening and were thoroughly impressed. Food was delicious really flavoursome and excellent portion sizes. The gentleman working behind the counter was very friendly we will definitely be back.

We tried here as we were staying near Portmadog. Had salt and pepper chips, crispy wonton, egg fried rice, lemon chicken and chicken in black bean sauce. The lemon chicken was better than any we've had at our home takeaways and everything else was tip top. We had to wait 45 minutes but we ordered at 8pm on a bank holiday Saturday evening so it's expected. Would definitely recommend.

Great Chinese food. Good is always hot and really flavoursome. I love their Satay dishes as they're really nutty and sweet. Prompt and polite service. Always a treat.

Chose special fried rice - nice tasty meal with loads of meat, but saturated with far too much oil. - May try a different meal next time.

Would of been 5 stars but found beef curry bland Sweet sour sauce very sour .. Rest of the meal was lovely

Found this Chinese while staying near porthmadog on holiday, bit of a wait for food around 50mins for a Saturday night . Well worth the wait thou as the food was delicious and the portions were massive . Everyone loved the food in our group 😋

Very good salt and pepper chillie chips

Called here one evening for a Chinese takeaway, it was very busy so there was quite a wait, then my order got mislaid, but eventually I got my food and cannot complain, it was definitely worth waiting for. Everything was hot and tasted delicious, I would recommend a visit, just be patient if there's a wait it'll be worth it.

Ordered salt/pepper chips, crispy beef in sezchaun sauce and sweet/sour chicken. All of it was really good. Lots of flavour

We have just had a meal as a treat for our tea omg excellent 👍👍👍we rang our order threw & it was ready in 15 minutes. Piping hot when it arrived & really good portions. Well recommend this Chinese. Thank you 😊

Good food, does take a while tho but it's worth the wait. We've tried a few of their dishes and really can't fault the place, it's just good food in huge portions at a fair price, what else can you ask for?

Apsolutly delicious food, only problem couldn't finish it!! Even catered for gluten free diet. Will deffinatly go there again.
