Gorgeous home cooked food. We had the Sunday roast - I’m fussy & it was superb. An incredibly friendly pub. Everybody so welcoming. If you find yourself in Sennybridge then take the time to pay the Shoemakers a visit in Pentre Bach.
We booked an early evening meal at the Caer Beris Manor, eating at the Teulu restaurant. We were the first table to arrive as we had asked for an early evening reservation. The dining room was in keeping with the hotel, oak panelled with a lot of heritage, except for the two big TV monitors showing what the chefs in the kitchen were creating. I loved the TV monitors. It showed the art and dedication the chefs put into the creation of each of the dishes. There were five at our table, and we ordered all but one dish on the starter and the main course that night, and we did order every dessert. All I can say is wow. The sound of excellent food being eaten, silence as the first mouthful was taken, followed by the joyful murmurs and expressions of excitement as the next bite was better than the first. The desserts were incredible and an absolute pleasure to eat.
I started with the chicken liver parfait, followed by the lamb and the beetroot frangipane for dessert.
We will be visiting Jamie and the team at Teulu restaurant every time we are in the area. What a fantastic find.
Lovely food , despite an abundance of bees landing on us whilst eating with 3 little children under the veranda , owners have got some bee attractions but they were all full . No children’s menu but we ordered adults food and shared them out . And no high chairs , so although children liked the animals we probs won’t go again because cafe no overly child friendly .
Very lucky to have this close by. We come here regularly and it never disappoints. The staff are fantastic and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. I'm gluten free and vegan and there's always plenty of choices. It has such a great atmosphere and is dog friendly! We would and do recommend this place regularly.
We popped in for lunch and ordered the quiche and the Welsh Rarebit.
A nice couple arrived celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and sat on the table across from us. They ordered steaks from the menu and a bottle of prosecco. The server then turned on ambient music that was so loud that it was impossible to hold a conversation. I managed to turn it down just as the server appeared back to say that they had no steaks. I looked out of the window behind her and the nice couple to where I could see a lovely local butchers where I was pretty sure they sold lovely local steak! They could probably even deliver for free! The couple, disappointed ordered the fish and chips instead!
Another couple arrived, were seated and given menus by the same server who mentioned nothing about the steak...a short while later she returned and they ordered... steaks...to also be told that they had no steak!!
The piece of quiche that arrived was the smallest piece of quiche I've ever seen in my life and was almost lost in the garden of green leaves that surrounded it on the plate. If there was a big draft it would likely have blown off the plate. The Welsh Rarebit was soggy and tasted bitter. I asked if we could have a bigger piece of quiche. Ten minutes later the server returned to tell us that all the quiche pieces were that size.
I explained the situation to the duty manager who apologised, didn't charge us and told me that the chef had recently left, the kitchen was staffed by trainees and the place was probably going to close down soon anyway.
I suggested that they do so sooner rather than later and that the prosecco for the nice steakless couple should probably be free.
We went to a nice deli down the road and purchased two single pieces of quiche about 10 times the size of the one we had been served...oh and there was indeed lovely fresh local steak in the butchers shop.
Since then they have announced that the restaurant will close on 31st October 2024
Hopefully it will re-open one day with properly trained staff and a kitchen that makes the most of local produce and chefs who have the ability to cross the road.

Revisited this place after 30 or so years, and it's still as lovely as ever. I didn't stay over so can't comment on the rooms, but the bar was as I remembered it: ancient and gorgeous. Food was yum, although I only had a starter.
Amazing Sunday roast, the portion sizes were absolutely eye-opening!
Even the boiled vegetables were delicious, which says a lot.
Service was excellent too, warm, efficient, and added to the whole experience.
Driver couldn't find house, went wrong way up one-way street and made me stand outside waiting for him to collect through the car window. The tandoori beef tasted so strongly of fish it went to the bin. no sauce, no poppadum, awful quality food

Drove the half hour out to this place because of the excellent reviews, family of five, food was OK, roasts hard but not crunchy, no mash potatoes or peas which was disappointing, my 11 year old daughter only wanted two Yorkshire puddings and gravey, we where initially charged for an adults carvary for this which is £14.95 she is under 12 so should have only been charged £9.95, I brought this up when paying the bill, it was changed to £3.95.
4 adult carverys, 4 pints of Pepsi, 2 pints of lime and soda and half a lemonade, 2 deserts came to £88.25.
