Made me spend over £10 for me to be able to pay on card, my £7 "chips cheese and curry sauce" was in fact chips mushy pees and curry sauce 🤮 the worst possible thing they could have done, what made it worse I repeated myself twice and when they asked if I wanted curry on my pee's and I said can I have it on my cheese not pee's

Came here for a family meal. Food is very good. I had the vegetable curry which can also have chicken added. Landlord and landlady friendly and excellent service. Will recommend a visit especially for food. My family also enjoyed their meals - can't fault.

called in to grab something to take home for lunch. Evans is ‘famous ‘ for its Chelsea buns so grabbed one and a savoury roll.Service prompt but no hint of a smile ,don’t know if the lady serving was having a bad life(always had this style of service from her for a number of years) Really off putting-failed charm school obviously then to add the icing on top of this bitter cake the Chelsea bun dry and stale whilst the chicken roll full of cranberry sauce and very very little meat.My advice shop elsewhere-better service, better quality and can use cards as Evans only take cash under £5 sales(not convenient at times)

We haven't had Chinese takeaway from her for about 6 years and boy was it good Tonight! Just as good as the last time if not better. Prompt and polite service from Simon as always and the food was delicious and piping hot. Very sad to hear they are closing down soon as they have been open for over 40 years but I wish them well for the future

I have been to the Oriel Cafe before in fact quite a few times but mostly morning and lunch time. Today myself and my aunty of 83 called in at 3.35. i asked if they were shutting and she said at 4pm. I then thanked her and ordered tea and a coffee. The whole time it was an unpleasant experience she cleary didnt want to serve me. Admittedly the reason was in the middle of the room sitting around a table were her friends or family? The drinks were thrown down with no eye contact or any words spoken. It was an unpleasant experience as up till then had always told people to call in if they were in Newtown. wont be going again and will not be recommending. Such a young girl but really does need to learn customer service is with a smile!

Found this place on the way home. We needed a gluten free takeaway but found not only GF pizza but GF garlic bread too. Great service and food. Plenty of choice and it's all cooked in front of you. Seemed popular and lively. Better than any Dominos!

We had been meaning to go here for some time, and we did on a Tuesday dinner time about 6pm. A good number of people in which was encouraging. Friendly welcome and we sat by the main road in a quite private seat. We ordered the grill de luxe and tadka dal each, keema nan and chips. The grill de luxe was missing the prawns and we had extra chicken tikka ordered to bump it up a bit more. The chips came out in a small bowl and looked like a mini version of a chip, greasy and not enough for two. The nan bread was dry and had been burnt in parts. Tadka dal was rather bland. The guys are lovely and friendly but it's not enough I'm afraid. There are another two Indian restaurants in Newtown which are faultless in their food. I think there's was a baby's birthday going on on the other side of the restaurant and they played happy birthday and brought out a cake with sparklers which was a lovely touch. No we didn't say anything at the time as they were so charming, which these days is actually a big plus point.
