This is definitely our favourite cafe in Hay. On our recent week in Hay we went most days for coffee, brunch or lunch. The food is delicious, using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. The staff are friendly and attentive without being in your face, and it has a lovely feel to the place. It can be a little noisy when full particularly if you are seated in the middle but otherwise what a breath of fresh air. Great room, light and bright looking out over the Castle grounds. Brilliant to be able to take our Cocker Spaniel in too.

Popped in for a well needed coffee whilst viewing a house in a neighbouring town. What a smashing place, friendly, helpful staff. Yummy milkshakes, food and coffee! Even made me a delicious cortado (which many places don’t seem to get right) will defo be back!

I had pre booked for our weekend away. We had a lovely welcome . I had requested on my booking a booth and this was exactly where were sat so very happy. Things continued to be amazing. We were served by Jasmine who was perfect. she was polite, professional and couldn't have been more welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. We had mains and desserts and non could be faulted. If we were ever in Hereford again we definitely be booking here again.

We ate on a busy Friday night and seated promptly. We ordered bruschetta for starters which were excellent. However, they took over half an hour to arrive. The pizza main course arrived soon after and was very disappointing. The base was floppy and slightly under baked. The cheese topping was way too excessive. We had no welfare checks at all during our meal so maybe you are expected to fetch your own drinks? Not a problem as such but it took a while to get served. It was the same when it was time to pay the bill. No interaction from any staff so back to the busy bar to wait to pay. The staff are friendly enough but you had the feeling that one or two more staff would have made a vast difference. Disappointing overall so we shall not return.

Just an overnight stay with friends. Parking was available at no cost and the bars and dining experiences were ideal for our purposes. We had the 'cheaper' rooms which were adequate and comfortable for the one night. Location is brilliant for a short stroll into the town. Would be more than happy to go there again.

Just returned from a short stay at Hay on Wye and visited this cafe every day! Really friendly staff, fantastic coffee and we also treated ourselves to a slice of carrot cake on our last day which was divine! We looked at the menu and there were lots of lovely things that we could have had if we were staying for breakfast or lunch. A good excuse to go back!

Good cosy spot for breakfast in central Hay-on-Wye for breakfast. We enjoyed terrific poached eggs on toast with sausage and avocado on toast. With excellent coffee, we were well set up for serious browsing in the many shops which constitute the world’s second-hand book capital. The bill came to £26.75 for two.

Food was nice. Happy that the have changed the fino pitta to have a choice between thigh or chicken breast. Always lovely food. No staff to clear though. We received no check to see if food was ok and we stayed an hour after we finished chatting and no one cleared our table. Tables around us left with plated long after they left. Food was great. Hot and quick
