We stayed here with our two dogs for one night prior to attending the Welsh Kennel Club Champ Show. Our room was really well equipped and very nicely laid out, and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The full english breakfast was spot on, and they went out of their way to ensure it was ready for us promptly as we had to head off to the show. We will definitely stay here again.

Really overpriced. We ordered 2 spaghetti bolognaise, fishcakes, steak open sandwich, 2 soft drinks and a tea and coffee and paid £78.50. For what we had it was terrible. The only acceptable meal was the fishcakes. The spaghetti bolognaise (£18) was full of water on the plates and small portions. The steak open sandwich had 1 small slice of thin beef on it (£17). It took ages to come, and the spaghetti bolognaise x 2 arrived way after the other two items. Really poor. Almost £80 for lunch and most of us went home hungry. Would definitely not recommend.

Unfortunately we have been regulars in the past but this is the second poor experience. Fillet steak was fatty (therefore not a fillet). Food took over 2 hours to arrive and was cold when it arrived. Unfortunately they appear to be more interested in the takeaway service providers than customers in the restaurant.

Did not eat but popped in for a beer. Looked a lovely pub plenty of history and charm. Beer was a nice, local butty Bach and was lovely. Service was slow and i think the bar man wasn't very chatty or hospitable . An comfortable pub with seating inside and out . Receptionist was very friendly. Can't comment on food as they don't open kitchen between 1500 and 1800.

Good cosy spot for breakfast in central Hay-on-Wye for breakfast. We enjoyed terrific poached eggs on toast with sausage and avocado on toast. With excellent coffee, we were well set up for serious browsing in the many shops which constitute the world’s second-hand book capital. The bill came to £26.75 for two.

me and my partner went for some lunch after sitting in a&e for two hours. we were greeted by a lovely man who made us feel immediately comfortable and welcome. he gave a new dip to try and a complimentary portion of ships as i had ordered the wrong thing. he absolutely didnt need to do that but he was more than happy to. overall we left feeling super happy with very full bellies!

Just returned from a short stay at Hay on Wye and visited this cafe every day! Really friendly staff, fantastic coffee and we also treated ourselves to a slice of carrot cake on our last day which was divine! We looked at the menu and there were lots of lovely things that we could have had if we were staying for breakfast or lunch. A good excuse to go back!
