The best restaurants in Aberdeenshire North East Scotland

I booked ardoe for a two night stay, I was very disappointed by my visit. I checked in around 9pm and the service at the desk was poor, I got to my room and it was filthy; dirty glasses, sink and shower covered in pink body fat, layer of dust over the kettle, towels shoved on the towel rail, stains on the ironing board. The next morning, I requested to move rooms as it was not clean. The reception supervisor was very helpful, and got a different room arranged for me. Unfortunately, this room was not clean either as the bathroom bin had not been emptied - this was a room that had apparently been “checked by housekeeping team”. The kettle was also broken in the second room. Very disappointing for a four star hotel and I will not be returning.

Family meal for birthday. Sizeable menu with loads to choose from. Food was lovely with no complaints from anyone. Nice decor. Staff were all very nice. Definitely going back

Just had mega burger, cheapest of burgers. Could not eat grissle bits. Also smoked sausage cheap and nasty no taste.

Great coffee and tasty sandwiches

· Wow where to start, I found this gem while visiting the local area. The inside is very warm and cosy and beautifully decorated. The staff were so warm and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. No impersonal self-check-ins here people! My room was on the top floor and can only be described as a cosy little snug. Gorgeously decorated with pretty lighting and an illustration of a castle. The bed was decent and had a lovely tartan rug on top. I was delighted to see there was a pretty antique-looking writing desk and chair in the room with plenty of space to hang clothes and store bags. There is a nice bath in the bathroom and this is the first place I saw had a proper bath matt as well as a matt in front of the loo. No moving the thin little matt around with a foot in this bathroom! I loved the fact that I could open the window in both the bedroom and bathroom. Pleasant continental breakfast, and decent coffee. The evening meal I had here was scrumptious everything on their menu looked amazing. The dining room had so much ambience and music in the background was not over loud meaning people were still able to talk to each other. Parking right outside. Bravo! highly recommend. I ended up booking a second night. Would visit again.

Large clean rooms, friendly staff, good food with large portions

Ordered on the way home from Glasgow and it was ready waiting for us at 20 past 10 at night, piping hot and ready to go. The pizzas, chips and Donner meat were absolutely delicious. Will definitely head back again.

We stayed here on our way through the region. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. And has lots of parking. Absolutely recommend. There is also a neat castle you can walk to not far away (Dunnideer) and some standing stones.

Popped in for relaxed outdoor lunch with our dog. Greeted warmly and the service continued to be excellent. For once a feeling that someone was in charge, something sadly lacking on so many places now. Great lunch menu with some unusual dishes. Very tasty. Proper device. Highly recommend. We will be back!

Very nice staff and welcoming customers

Love the North Bar, food is fantastic and good value, the staff are friendly and professional, the bar itself has a good atmosphere and looks good. Was celebrating my husbands birthday and he got a free beer, and was chuffed. Ate the baked chicken with haggis and whisky sauce, perfect size of portion. Also had at our table the chilli nachos, and the mussels. All great tasting food. Quick service and will be back again soon.
