The Station Hotel in Aberdeenshire

Very nice and modern hotel, the rooms are very clean. The owners gave a very friendly welcome...you immediately feel at home! The breakfast was great and uncomplicated...everything you need is there!

Very warm welcome. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Rooms bright and bed comfortable. Views from window lovely. Car parking safe. Food well cooked and presented, hot and tasty. Menu varied to suit all tastes. I recommend The Station Hotel in a friendly village, close to train and bus links for Inverurie and Aberdeen

Lunch was top notch and home made qualities shone through on all three courses from the golden vetagble soup to the macaroni and cheese and the cheese cake. By all accoutns the vegtable spring rolls, roast beef with all the trimmings and stick toffee pudding were also well recieved. I booked the station hotel initially for 15 poeple for a function and turned out there were a few extras and that was no trouble at all for them to accomodate. Its the first time in a while that I can say there was not one negative comment with food and service, hats off to Jackie and her staff for running a fantastic lunch service for us. When we are next back in the area dropping into the Station Hotel Insch for lunch is definatley on the list, covid circumstances permitting.

Lovey looking hotel from outside lots of parking. Its not a hotel it's a B&B Only tea and coffee available, the bar down stairs was not re opening so no cold drinks after a 5 hour drive, bread for breakfast was wrapped in cling film and left in the fridge, for the contintental breakfast you help yourself fine enough, all the smoothies had gone over night, there was an open bottle of milk left in fridge a few yougerts and bottles of water. breakfast/dinner area only place to sit apart from room, No ckair in room , no wardrobe just a metal stand thing with 4 hangers. This could be an amazing hotel but needs to be people frendly.

We arrived to find we were the only people staying there for the next 2 nights. We were shown our bedrooms which were very small but comfortable and warm. Then to the breakfast room where we were told there was no cooked breakfast available but we could help ourselves to items left eg yogurts, slices of bread left in cling film for toast etc, pain au chocolate in cling film, Kit Kats and a few pieces of fruit. The ‘breakfast’ room had a tv in which we could watch but no heating! It was freezing! We were left alone in the ‘hotel’ for 2 days as the owners were on holiday and had arranged for someone to just let us in and leave us breakfast!! We had not been informed of this before arriving and there was no offer of a reduction in price!! Absolutely appalling!! This should not be classed as a b&b never mind a hotel.

On Sunday 31st October we arrived about 2pm thinking we might be too late for Sunday lunch. We were welcomed by friendly, professional, helpful staff and enjoyed a tasty, well presented, reasonably priced meal in lovely surroundings. We will certainly use again if in the area.

My sister & I booked an overnight stay at the above hotel. Text’s & emails sent, I advised hotel to expect us at 4pm. On arrival there was no sign of life on the premises - no lighting, only locked doors. A passing neighbour offered to contact the proprietor, telling him guests were waiting. We were advised he would be with us soonest. We stood a total of 45 minutes in very cold, windy conditions. At that point we left the hotel grounds. The whole situation was chaotic and upset ours & family plans. Now more than ever, in these days of hospitality hardship, we expected a courteous welcome yet we got a locked front door! No guests welcome here! Not only has the establishment missed out on an overnight booking it also missed having 6 family members for dinner. We are seasoned travellers and would say we’ve perhaps “seen it all” but we have never arrived to a locked door of a hotel where we were expected!! Do not expect customer service/satisfaction at the Station Hotel, Insch! I regret having to give one star - IT IS NOT DUE!

We had a lovely evening meal with friends. The roast dinners were delicious. We then stayed overnight. The room was newly refurbished and the shower was amazing. The cooked breakfast was perfect. Jackie & Colin are very welcoming hosts. I can only use one hand therefore all my food has to be cut up in the kitchen. This was no problem for them. We will definitely be coming to stay again as this very central for a lot in the area. It's right next to the train station for a day trip to Inverness

Colin and Jackie are very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are modern and well equipped with plenty of space. At breakfast had good choice of continental or cooked breakfast. Enjoyed being able to have our own lounge area with TV in the evening . Plenty of space in restaurant for covid spacing. well cared for at a funeral tea

Moved to the Insch area several months ago and today was the first visit to The Station Hotel. Was booked for my son for Fathers Day, The venue was beautifully decorated and clean. Staff were very pleasant and did not overly interact. The Fathers Day menu was great, Prawn Starter, Roast Beef / Burger / All Day Breakfast Mains as well as Sticky Toffee Pudding Desert were all well presented, hot and delicious according to rest of the family. Free Fathers Pint of Tennants was well chilled and well poured in the bottom etched glass ensuring effervescence throughout. We will be back as soon as practical. Only shame is that due to Covid the footfall to the Station Hotel has fallen off so that currently only open at weekends. Hopefully this situation will improve soon and locals and visitors can enjoy the same experience we had today Great work team - keep it up and see you soon

We live in Insch and want to support this local buisness but the food is hugely overpriced for what you get. Iand a number of friends who also desperately want it to succeed feel that customers are paying restaraunt prices for average pub grub. I want to go back but have bad several really average but pricey meals to want to go back

We really like to support local businesses especially during these difficult times. So we took advantage of the take away service offered by the station hotel. The food was so disappointing, I really felt like none of it was homemade, and it was all out of a freezer into a frier. I had a chicken burger expecting a home made chicken breast burger instead I was faced with a processed burger. My husband had the beef burger and it tasted the same. Frozen chips into the frier, and not even a side salad. Maybe this is enjoyed by some, but honestly don’t think it would be that much effort to make home made food! Good pub grub would be a welcome change to the village.

Would highly recommend this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and room extremely clean and comfortable. The shower was the best from all the hotels that I’ve stayed in Would certainly go again, hopefully in the near future.

We had a takeaway tonight. The menu is varied and very good value. We had haddock which was massive and a portion of skinny fries which also came with a peas. My wife had the chicken fillets. She really enjoyed hers as well. With a portion of onion rings we were £21. Would definitely recommend.

Up visiting family in Insch. Five adults, 1 child and a baby. Made very welcome. Food excellent- great value for money . It must be lovely to live somewhere with a local Pub, restaurant, bar, providing great service and food on them doorstep’ Would definitely recommend.

Had an excellent lunch here. Staff were very welcoming friendly had a good menu to choose from. This is a lovely place tastefully decorated will be back

Great family run restaurant and bar. Delicious food in a very welcoming environment due to the super friendly staff. Good drink selection in the bar too. Will definitely visit again!

Had Christmas dinner. Turkey with the trimmings. Could have been a bit hotter and possibly cooked a bit longer. Thought it was okay.

We went to this venue to celebrate my wives birthday. Great food and lovely people We will definitely go again.

Stayed here two nights this week due to work. First night was so good, I insisted on staying here on the second.The welcome was fantastic, and they remembered me on the second visit. On leaving, I was personally bid farewell.The rooms have obviously been modernized lately, to a very high standard with very good quality fittings and even original art in one of the rooms.Great en-suite and good size rooms.Breakfast was superb, filling, and very fast. Again with personal service (unlike the big chains)If you're in the area, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

A nice clean and friendly place, staff were lovely and friendly. The room was compact but had everything that in needed and a very peaceful location local to all amenities, and local transport. A nice relaxing location

We have just got back from here tonight having been for 2 drinks in the weekThe staff are so friendly and MAKE you feel so welcome We had the Homemade Steak pie:Big tender chunks of steak,in a nice gravy peas and chips as wellThe lovely girl who was serving at our table came to see if all was ok We had for desert 'Sticky Toffee Pudding and Honeycomb Cheese Cake both very nice as wellThe place was CLEAN and TIDYThe beer was was nice to PUNK IPA very moreishIf in area again we will call in if only for a drinkIGNORE the negative comments by those who have reviewed this place they DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT !!!!!

Me and my family stopped by for lunch before heading back home and what a little treat it was! Such a bright and modern restaurant with lovely staff! They couldn't have been nicer! We ordered 2 macaronis, chicken goujons and a kids chicken nuggets. Everyone enjoyed their meal even my neice who is very fussy! I had the goujons and the batter was perfect! Not greasy with a lovely crisp! And the chips were bloody good!! We didn't have a long wait for our food to arrive either which was brilliant seeing as we had a 4yr old who can be impatient.Would definitely recommend eating here! But next time I'll be making sure to have pudding too!

All very fresh,clean and comfortable.We were traveling through late in the evening and rang to see if they had a room,a quick,friendly responce and within 30 minutes we were relaxing in The Station Hotel, in a lovely large clean,fresh,comfortable room..We requested an earlier than normal breakfast and thats what we got,we choose the cearel and toast option ,the coffee was an extremly good cup of coffee ..and the cereal,toast and the large unexpected fresh platter of fruit was all perfect.We would definatly call again.

i am writing as I was so impressed with how good everything was for my Mum's funeral lunch. The lentil soup was delicious as was the sausage rolls, which had the flakiest pastry. They were obviously homemade!!

From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out I had such an Amazing time. The owners were so accommodating & the staff were so attentive. My room was immaculate, The food was fantastic, can’t wait to go back for the Fillet Steak. See you soon

I stayed here for 3 nights and highly recommend it. I wanted a relaxing weekend away and The Station was the perfect place for this. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast and dinner were delicious and the owners were very hospitable. The Station proved to be a good place to base myself before exploring the local area. Visiting the Glen Gariouch distillery and climbing up Bennachie are must do activities when visiting Insch and both are a short drive from the Station. Thank you to Jackie and the team for making it a wonderful & enjoyable weekend. I’ll definitely stay here the next time I’m in Insch.

Had lunch at the Station Hotel today and was very impressed by the lovely food and excellent service, thank you so much to the staff who made my dad's birthday meal one to remember!

Stayed the night at The Station Hotel en route from Inverness to Aberdeen. Hotel has recently been renovated and was very much to my liking. Room was immaculate and a cracking shower, very hot and loads of power - WiFi great. Ate in the bar and food was very good - soup and steak pie, which was ideal on an unbelievably wet night. Staff were very friendly and service was very prompt. Really comfortable stay and excellent value for money.

We visited for a meal about 6pm. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. I had grilled salmon which was perfect and served with a generous salad which was fresh and varied. My other half had chicken curry which he thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable with a contemporary decor style. Loos were pristine. Highly recommend this gem in beautiful Aberdeenshire for great local cooking.

Went there with my wife for a supper in midweek. Great couple of dishes. I had the battered Haddock and my wife had the chicken goujons. Both delicious. Would definitely go back. Staff (Julie) was very friendly and attentive.

This was our first visit to the Staion Hotel. We hope to be back. Next time we would plan on eating here. The food looked good & it was great to pass the kitchen on the lower floor as we entered the building. On this occasion we were a large party of 10+ who were just visiting to hear the live music. The music was most enjoyable & the pub was buzzing with a nice atmosphere. The manager added to the atmosphere by mingling with his customers & making sure everyone was happy & comfortable. Tables & chairs were moved to accommodate anyone who wanted seats etc. The staff were happy, competent & smart.

This place was a big surprise. Very friendly staff. Clean and fresh restaurang. The food was great. The ribeye from a lokal farmer were perfectly grilled. A++++ from us!

Very poor decoration for a restaurant area and filthy glass cabinets with fingerprints made me to consider just not ordering - but we stuck with it.... only to find an average meal, made with the cheapest of ingredients.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting this hostelry again. A good selection of tasty dishes. We were made to feel very welcome and would have no hesitation in recommending this place.

Newly opened, I’ve been a few times now. Building is lovely on the inside and staff are always friendly. Food is good and menu is changed often.

Fab stay at station hotel insch, through to attend an event at leisure centre. Beautiful, bright very welcoming arrival, lovely chatty barman Robert kept us watered, overnight stay in new rooms which were spotless with the best shower and the biggest bed I’ve ever slept in! Perfect breakfast in the morning to set us on our way, all in all a fab overnight stay with some really nice hosts and lovely staff. Defo be back, taking the train next time as the stop is right across the road!

Came with a friend to check out the new menu at the newly refurbished Station Hotel. Got a warm welcome and water to the table straight away, bit of a delay to get our order taken (restaurant was all bit empty, just another couple of tables), but once it was taken good arrived promptly. We both had the fish n chips which was tasty enough but not drained properly so the paper which it was served on had stuck to the fish and had started to break down. Mayo and tartare sauce served in minuscule containers which seemed very odd. Had been told it was home cooking with a twist but can’t figure what the twist is? Another table was given a bill but then no one came to take the payment so 20 mins later they walked u to pay, was a bit confusing.

Went for a lunchtime meal mainly to try it out as it would be another eating option when we are out that way, as we often are,The quality of the food was really disappointing and very much doubt we will be going back

Usual pub menu/food but good quality food and decent portions. Good service. Pub has recently been resurrected from a defunct station hotel.

The station hotel came as a recommendation for our annual Christmas luncheon with my group of friends.

I have visited the Station hotel a couple of times, On my first visit I was with my family for an evening meal, the staff were very attentive and were able to answer any questions we had. The food was fresh and everyone was happy with their meals.

First visit to the recently renovated Station Hotel. Friendly welcome, beautiful place. Order taken quickly. Food was good when it arrived. Chicken pie was not what we expected.Chicken and sweetcorn in a sauce with a small square of pastry on top.

We booked a last minute table for a family evening meal. Pleasant surroundings in the newly refurbished hotel. The staff were very pleasant, if not a bit unorganised......various different waitresses asking to take an order when this had already been done. A fresh orange and lemonade arrived as orange squash and water. 3 of the 5 main courses arrived, we then had a 10 minute wait for the remaining 2. Two of our party ordered the hot and spicy chicken burger, this was very bland, with no hint of spice. Overall, not a bad experience, we put the few issues down to teething problems.....we would return.

Ate here for the first time this evening and was very disappointed. Don't rate it as good value for money. Such a shame as I had so looked forward to the Station Hotel opening.
