Food fantastic and reasonable prices.

Of hundreds of fish and chips places around the world, This restaurant and bar offers the best fish and chips I have ever had. The quality and quantity were outstanding for the price and the service excellent. We are going back again.

8 of us had dinner here and it was excellent. The portions were huge and the food was brilliant. Good price too, will be back again next time we are in Stonehaven. Thoroughly recommend.

Nice bar and food however we often choose not to come here due to the unwelcoming atmosphere and attitudes of the staff. A real shame as the food is lovely but would rather not come somewhere you are made to feel like such an inconvenience.

Just a fantastic place, whilst our room was small it was well appointed. The location is excellent and if you opt for the beach facing rooms, it's an amazing view. The food served in the lively bar was excellent. The service was just brilliant. What a find!

It's a decent enough pub. Some of the seating is designed to look good but is not practical. Most seating is fine, though. Food is good pub grub. Pensioner portions are great. Right amount to encourage a pudding. Chef made toffee sauce just for my friend.

Great place for pub grub and a drink. Reduced portions are superb value.

The room needs a bit of a refresh and two bedside tables but it was clean. Other than that it was great with the views over the bay. The food was good and we will be back soon.

Fritto veramente molto unto, ma saporito. Personale davvero molto gentile e cordiale, bagni ok. Arredamento suggestivo, retró, si abbina bene al resto della città molto tranquilla e fuori dai piedi. Non affollato, prezzi buoni ma non troppo bassi considerando che è in un piccolo paesino. Ci tornerei ecco. Lo posso definire consigliato

Over priced for standard of room. Small room with small double bed. In room we stayed in bathroom was dated and wallpaper held down in corners with nails. Also no soap or hand-wash which was surprising. Bar/restaurant was busy due to a football match being on but what irked myself was we where seated in a small booth and we had groups standing around us while eating and they would place their glasses on our table. Food was good, staff great but pricing on rooms is steep for what's on offer in the rooms and overall condition.

On the pricey side for fairly average good. Not awful by any means but overpriced imo. Nice venue and good service though.

I can’t thank the team at Number 44 enough for all their help with my sons first birthday party. The team were so helpful in the run up to the party, they offered advice to us about the numbers & were on hand if we had any questions. The team were just fantastic & the excellent service meant we could enjoy the day ourselves without any stress. The function suite was perfect for our number of guests & everyone spoke very highly of the food (which was absolutely delicious). We will certainly be using the function suite again for future events.

I just had Sunday dinner. Brisket. Bjesus it was lush. About 2 inch thick chunk of melt in mouth beef. You have to go. Lol

Habitaciones pequeñas pero cómodas. En el desayuno se echa de menos algo de fruta, pero en general está bastante bien. Buena ubicación en Stonehaven y el bar de abajo estaba animado por la noche.

The location is great during the day and less great on a weekend evening, as this is where people gather to drink. Can be a little loud. Rooms are pretty small. Staff seemed great.

A very good place to sleep and have a HUGE breakfast!

Booked double room for long weekend. Room was adequate, although looked onto roof, had all the usual facilities. Shower room was functional, nice & bright. We had dinner first nite downstairs in bar area. Staff were very helpful. Meal was delicious. The enclosed table, seat arrangement was not that comfortable. We had breakfast and was surprised that no Cereal/continental offering was listed. We went for the default fried option, which was tasty. But not every day? The breakfast & bar area was very dark and would recommend a brighter revamp. Maybe owners could open up the old rear space again which overlooks the beach? All in all an ok place to stay in Central Stonehaven. Staff are fab, decor is tired. Parking is restricted but time it after 6pm is generally free around the streets or central market. Hotel choice in Stonehaven is now very limited.

Went to no44 bar for breakfast on Sunday, Freya was so lovely! She sat us down, took our order, was really friendly and the food was the best breakfast we had all week while away in Aberdeen. Would strongly recommend them! Well priced, lovely service and top quality taste! Will definitely go back when we visit Stonehaven in the future. Thanks for a lovely end to our holiday away - also just to highlight, I had the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted here!

I only went in for food I didn't stay how ever I been In a few times for food and I definitely recommend if passing, iv had there breakfast and different things from the main meals and every time the food has been hot fresh and value for money and to top it off the staff are all friendly and it's always been service with a smile. I'll be back

Ate here twice over one weekend. The food was really really good and the staff were lovely. I have known the hotel for years but didn't realise what a great place it now is!

Nettes Hotel mit Restaurant/Pub, zentral gelegen. Nah bei (ca. 1 min Gehweg) gibt es einen gebührenpflichtigen Parkplatz. Zimmer war gut. Bad und Dusche o.k.. Es gibt aber keinen Aufzug, Gepäck muss also die Treppe in den ersten Stock hinaufgetragen werden. Frühstück war gut (ich hatte Full Scottish Breakfast, man kann zwischen mehreren Sachen wählen). Der Pub für das Abendvergnügen war auch schön. Personal sehr freundlich.

Great little hotel with a nice pub attached. The front desk lady was very nice and made me feel so welcomed the minute I checked-in. The pub staff were very attentive and the food was great. Can't beat the location, right in the center of town and minutes walk to the beach.

Stayed here whilst in Stonehaven. I have mixed feelings. The rooms were lovely, very clean and comfy. Although no hand-wash in the bathroom which was a little annoying as I didn't expect I'd have to pack a bottle of hand-wash. The food was excellent, I had the Angus Burger and Chips with a side of haggis bon bons and whiskey sauce. It was great. Something seemed a bit wrong with their beers I'll be honest about that, they weren't all that cold and it tasted like they don't clean their pipes all that often. The atmosphere in the bar was unfriendly the staff just don't communicate, and the staff frequently argue behind the bar. Not to mention that they constantly blare horrible unlistenable pop music. There was an altercation where the duty manager made her staff work two hours unpaid overtime and they rightly so stormed out, unfortunately leaving the lad behind the bar on his own to manage the nights workload, I went to tip him and he put it in a tip jar which I'd say speaks volumes about how the staff are treated here. Breakfast options are extremely limited, it's basically a fry up or nothing. No fruit or cereal on offer at all. If you're staying in Stonehaven for £85 a night it's absolutely fine. It's right on the beach and a 5 minute walk from almost all of stonehavens attractions.

Kleines Hotel, Zimmer sind auch etwas klein aber schön ausgestattet. Einige Zimmer haben Meerblick. Ein netter Pub gehört zum Hotel.

Excellent food and drink. Nice to see a proper pie and not just some stew with a slice of puff pastry balanced on top.

Prima Übernachtungshotel . Zentral gelegen. Nette Dame an der Rezeption.

Overall great. Very comfy bed. Vegan breakfast options could be better. Came without potato scone or toast. When we asked they brought loads of toast though.

Excellent overnight stay . The room was very spacious with a large , comfortable bed and lovely panoramic views over the sea. The bathroom had the luxury of a bath with lashings of hot water. We ate in the hotel , food was tasty and our drinks served as requested. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely return .

Tables cluttered with plates and glasses from previous guests. Staff seemed indifferent when I asked them to clean the table. Abrupt waitress when asked questions about the food menu. Problems with various card machines took a while to be rectified. Training for staff would be beneficial , particularly when engaging with customers.

Great wee hotel in the centre of Stonehaven. If the rooms are as good as the service, food and hospitality its a fab place to stay and explore the local area. Aberdeen is just a stones throw away by car or train. I use Hotel44 for coffee with friends and for dinner.

I enjoyed a lovely dinner here last week with friends and colleagues. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent, warm and friendly! I had the haggis ravioli for starters and the beef wellington for main course which was cooked to perfection. Sadly I didn't have room for dessert but I'll definitely be back, and soon. Highly recommend. Can't rate the rooms as I didn't stay over, maybe next time!

Had a fab night out with friends at the new restaurant upstairs at Number 44. Beautiful food, tasty cocktails, attentive & friendly staff, fantastic presentation & just a lovely atmosphere for an evening out. We started & finished with drinks downstairs in the bar which was open late. I’ll definitely come back & would highly recommend.

I didn't need to stay, hence no stars for rooms .. but, if the rooms are as good the food, then it would have been 5/5 stars. Team dinner last night, upstairs at Number 44, Stonehaven, and I must confess, the food was 'off the scale' lovely. The portion sizes were great (so much so, I could only manage 2 courses) and the Hotel waiting team were attentive and quick. Even though there was so much to choose from their extensive new menu, the team were brilliant in allowing me to have a 'pick and mix'! For my main course, Rib eye (from a local butcher - that alone is worth 5 stars!) cooked to perfection, roasted tomatoes and a side salad. The upstairs dining area was perfect for us; for those of you who haven't been before, there is a bar in there too, so the drinks service was efficient. Whatever size your party, for delightful decor, superb service and fantastic food, 44 has got to be in the running.

Great evening out and I would highly recommend a meal at the restaurant. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were very generous. A good variety of dishes on offer too. I had the ham hock terrine for a starter and then went on to have a fish dish for my main course. Food arrived hot and bursting with flavour. Staff friendly and very efficient. I’ll definitely be back.

Last night I had an amazing meal with friends at Number 44 Hotel & Bar in Stonehaven! Oh my days! The food was incredible! Scallops to start, Beef Wellington for Main (which was perfectly cooked), and Cookie Dough for desert! To top it off, the service was first class! And the cocktails went down very nicely! Get yourself down to Number 44 to try their new menu, you won’t be disappointed!

We had the pleasure of dining on the new Signature menu and enjoy also several Signature Cocktails. Upstairs is an amazing restaurant space. From start to finish the service and the food was amazing. Scallops with Pork belly as a starter was wow. Beef Wellington portion was very large and most enjoyable. We finished the evening down in the bar.

I did not stay at this hotel as it's not disabled friendly but I go in for the food well I used to not sure just now as when I went in on the 17/3/2023 at 6pm the food was not like it normally is we both had fish and chips the fish as always was beautiful loved it but that was it the chips was to thick a cut and were half raw so pudding two sticky toffee puddings I know from past cant go wong but no I was wrong they both tasted burnt really how could you number 44 chef you let me down disaster the waitress were great always asking if we needed anything if we did they never forgot us I will be back once more see how it goes

Didn't stay as we are local so cannot comment on rooms or breakfasts. Decent meal and good service will always be received well. When we were in it was quiet, with clean toilets. Never been in the evening but I have reason to believe it's not so quiet then.

Staff rude, food disappointing,.

This hotel was a gem. We found it almost accidentally driving through Scotland and were extremely positively surprised. From location, through the more than excellent service, to fabulous breakfast. The manager, Michelle was extremely kind, not only doing her job (which, BTW she did with constant smile) but making extra not one but hundred miles, even exactly taking our luggage and piloting us to proper parking. If happened, we'd be in Aberdeen area, we will be very happy to spend the night (or more) there

This Hotel is a gem! I have stayed at a few places in the Stonehaven recently but this is the best so far. Very clean Room, nice comfy bed, situated right on the Town Square. The breakfast was excellent and the flexible hours were very much appreciated! The Staff could not be nicer and work very hard to ensure a pleasant experience. The Bar/Restaurant area is dog friendly and has a big table in the window which is great for young babies complete with Pushchair. I shall be back, well done everybody!!

Popped in yesterday intending to have a drink or two. Welcome from barmaid wasn't exactly friendly so left and went to the Cowie Bar instead. Cheaper drink and a warmer welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a long drive, so after unpacking the car, I enjoyed slumping in to a chair and watching the sea from out the room window. Then we got dinner at the Hotel Bar/Restaurant which was exceptional. The tomato soup was a particular standout but everything was delicious. Same for the breakfast, except it was the avocados on that occasion that separated theirselves as the best I'd ever tasted. The staff were excellent: very friendly and everything we required was catered to. I would highly recommend and will most certainly be returning if I'm in the area again.

Wir haben hier zu Abend gegessen und das Essen war sehr gut, die Bedienung freundlich. Das Restaurant ist mitten in der Ortschaft und auch vom nahe gelegenen Campingplatz gut zu Fuss erreichbar.

I loved this place! I only had to give the room a 4 because it was a bit worn and small. But the bathroom had great pressure and fixtures, and with a new patio door and window to the ocean, fresh air was abundant. I slept to the sound of the waves. Staff were warm, helpful and friendly, food tasty and well priced, and the pub a fun meeting place.

Good food friendly staff but they keep us waiting for our food we ordered.We arrived ahead of 4 costumers and we were served the very last.😭 The hotel room is freezing no heating.Unlike the Moxy hotel and Ibis hotel where we stayed for 2 nights each hotel very nice and comfortable place we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel right in town centre. Our room a bit small but for a few nights it did the job. The room service was great and location great however a bit more information on the web site about the journey from train station to hotel would have been helpful, also some local info in the room would have been good too. Breakfast was ok , the breakfast room was a lovely big room but a bit old fashioned and might be more appealing if brightened up a bit. All the staff really helpful and pleasant would recommend to F&F if visiting the area

Tolle Lage, tolle Preise. Das Zimmer war sauber, gepflegt und gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam, im angeschlossenen Pub kann man sehr gut zu Abend essen und das Frühstück ist dür den Preis vollkommen ausreichend. Danke gerne wieder.

This is based on a service of Sandwiches and teas/coffees after a funeral. When we arrived nobody was there to serve us. One girl did appear and she did offer tea. The sandwiches were awful, tasteless and odd fillings, I am sure most of them had a filling of ratatouille, funnily enough no one touched them! There were 2-3 left for us with egg, barely filled, thin, cheap bread. They served sausage rolls and they were better but not much for the amount of people there, they were gone in seconds. I was told this cost the family £600 which, if true, is shocking. I can't review the rest of the hotel or the food in the restaurant but this was not pleasing at all. If this is a reflection of this hotels standards, I certainly won't return in the future.

Sehr schönes Zimmer, vermutlich neu renoviert. Ein paar Kleinigkeiten, wie Aufhängmöglichkeiten für Handtücher fehlten noch. Lage ist mitten in der Stand und hinterm Hotel ist direkt das Meer. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Das Hotel verfügt über eine Bar mit Essensmöglichkeiten, zu üblichen Preisen, was sehr praktisch ist, wenn man Abends nicht lange suchen möchte!

Just popped in for food with our dog and they were very friendly. There was 6 of us and all ate something different, everybody enjoyed it.

At my cousins funeral today, was a lovely venue. Was crowded but that's because he was popular. Unfortunately couldn't hear the music playing with photos of his life, but was good anyways.

Exceptional stay with very attentive staff who looked after us from the time we arrived until we checked out . Rooms are beautifully appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Food was delicious and served pipping hot with a great choice of menu. Loved my short stay and would highly recommend staying . Please thank your team for a most enjoyable stay Regards Ian

Das Hotel ist sehr gut mitten im Ort gelegen. Kostenpflichtige Parkmöglichkeiten gegenüber. Sehr sauber. Restaurant ist gut und preiswert. Sehr freundliches Personal. Sicherlich auch für mehrere Nächte geeignet. Strandnähe ist super.

Modern hotel in the dead center of lovely Stonehaven. The staff was so kind and helpful. Breakfast was really good and location was great! There are amazing sea cliff walks to Dunnotar Castle that are absolutely stunning close by.

Highly recommend this place to to stay. Comfy and clean room, ours with a sea view too, being right next to beach. The Scottish breakfast was included and very good. Other food was quite reasonable and well made with good ingredients.

Had a lovely 2 course meal. Very tasty, excellent portion and very reasonably priced.

I have stayed at this hotel a good few times over the past few years and its a very good hotel the people that work in the hotel are lovely very Friendly and very professional. Its a very clean and tidy hotel with housekeeping offered every day nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The food is amazing from the cooked breakfast and other options in the morning to a very good evening meal menu that i have tried most dishes and have never once been let down. i love the food at no 44 and last but not least the location is superb just off the main square and a 2 minute walk down the lane to the boardwalk and beach where you can take a nice walk along to the harbour where you find some nice wee pubs overlooking the beach and the harbour or if you walk the opposite way on the boardwalk it will take you down by the caravan park and the best chipshop not forgetting the lovely sea views all the way up to the clifftops and another lovely beach. So all in all i would highly recommend this hotel and if you take my advice i am sure you will not be dissapointed.

Rooms are clean, but basic. Staff are beyond amazing, friendly and helpful. Only had breakfast on our stay and again can't fault it.

Rooms are simple but clean. The food was very good and excellent value for money. Great breakfast and caters for those who don’t eat meat. The best part about this place are the staff who are friendly and accommodating. I would 100% recommend this place. Fantastic for the money.

Just had one of the best Sunday lunches at a pub ever, and it's dog friendly too. The staff are great and would definitely recommend....!!!

Seems to have declined a little since or last visit pre-covid. Food acceptable, service OK but just lost that "edge". A little disappointed.
