The Paddock in Aberdeenshire

Ordered food and several rounds of drinks, one of our fussy kids got a poke of chips from the local chippy and we were basically escorted off the premises!! Not by THE BOSS! who sheepishly peered around the hatch at us like we had brought in an atomic bomb, staff are absolutely terrified of "said" BOSS! rather be at the other family run bars in Portlethen who don't only cater, but welcome families

Choose to eat here because I wanted better than the Brewers Fyre. What a good choice the Paddock Bar was. Team were very customer focused. Food was fresh, plentiful and delicious.

Really tasty food, friendly place and a good selection on the menu. Recently moved to the area but will be back!

First time in in a long time today, wasn't happy paying £1.60 for a std bag of crisps forms dog, even the barmaid was embarrassed and apologetic.

Staff were friendly enough and the drinks we had arrived very quick.

When serving tea or coffee at a funeral, please make sure it's hot and what's with half cups,need to clean your tea pots too,didn't complain at the time as ,didn't like to upset the family

Good local pub with good atmosphere and great juke box

Food was OK, very little atmosphere at lunchtime and server was sullen.

Pool table awkwardly situated in the bar limits access to toilets if someone's playing pool

Having been a regular here for over 10 years I'm afraid to say I won't be back in a hurry. The waitresses serving yesterday evening were very unkind and immature. My dog was refused a bowl of water saying they had no other bowls, the barman kindly sorted this out for me, they clearly dished me up a piece of pork that was meant for the bin. After over an hour and 1/2 I was then told to put my dog on a lead even though we were outside and there was another dog wondering around inside. Pure nasty because they couldn't be bothered getting me a bowl of water. Disgusting behaviour.

Wasn't in very long, just after a funeral but the food served was beautiful

Food and drink quire good and cheap, but don't expect a speedy email reply for a table booking as I have been waiting 4 days to book 2 (socially distanced) tables and despite numerous emails from my end we haven't ended up with said table.

Was here every night while working close by, excellent food, and the pints are good too, also staff very friendly

Nice place to visit vivid protocal all in place

The food was very disappointing and one meal was inedible, when the staff member was told he said 'oh I'll tell the chef'. He went and got the card machine and didn't apologise so we paid full price for a meal that only have two bites taken from it and teeth marks in the garlic bread as it was solid. We have left very disappointed and had to go get dinner from a supermarket. Would not recommend anyone eats there.

Good social distancing measures inside with screens. Great food, the paddock chicken was a treat and the waitress offered both sauces as i couldn't decide. the whiskey sauce was delicious. Kids are all their macaroni and chicken nuggets. A good price for two families eating.

We booked for dinner on Saturday night. None of the staff were wearing masks or visors yet came very close. There was no respect shown to visitors or by guests to social distancing and no guidance on how they are responding to the current guidelines. We were shocked! The management have installed Perspex round the bar, separated the centre tables and the outside tables but the staff are not following through. No one seemed to care about their own safety or anyone else’s. We left and would advise others to avoid until the end of civic.

Great food and friendly service

Went for food on way to Stonehaven for Hogmanay, had used trip advisor to find somewhere to eat. This is a locals pub in a housing estate, if we weren’t the only ones eating it would of been very awkward, can’t fault the staff and service although the food was a bit over priced for what it was, I wouldn’t of booked this place if I had known what type of place it was.

Great saturday night in the paddock, dj, karaoke and live music and dancing, fab atmosphere, and no need for taxi home.

so.... ordered chips and cheese and a pint of dark fruit. After waiting between 15 and 20 minute I got handed these dry, but deep killed cheese on chips. I though with price I'd get an ok sized portion of chips. but definitely not grilled to cremation. 2 stars were given cos the pint was still good

Great food , great place for families.

Pub grub was always in my day great quality and sold at a decent price. Nowadays you don’t find this in general as most pubs can cost as much as an upmarket restaurant. However that said The Paddock offers good old fashioned local recipes and great choices of good old fashioned pub food at very reasonable prices. As an ex chef and in the food supply business I was extremely happy at the food served this evening. A quiet night and not that busy but a friendly welcoming service from the barmaid who doubled up behind the bar, taking our order and serving with a pleasant personality with good manners in itself is hard to find these days. I was meeting people I hadn’t seen for ten years and they live close to the Paddock. It’s a bright bar/ restaurant spacious and accessible for all. Big comfortable seating booths with large tables giving plenty of room to dine at. Drinks taken and meal orders were prepared and back in front of us by a very efficient kitchen team. Fresh fish battered in a lovely batter, steak pie steaming hot with steamed vegetables and my mixed grill was spit on hitting the mark. It is what it is, says what it does on the tin so to speak. A great night had by all and will go back for sure.

First visit after recommendation from a friend and it didn't disappoint. Once seated our drinks order was taken and we had a look at the very extensive menu. There are also several specials on the board to chose. We both decided on the mixed grill . Ten minutes later a huge plate of food arrived ,chicken breast Bacon, sausage,haggis,mushrooms, tomato, onion rings, steak, fried egg,chips and a pepper sauce all cooked to perfection simply delicious. Service was excellent friendly and attentive staff highly recommend .

Fine, pretty soulless but clean and generic. Reasonable priced drinks and food, food venue for watching football and a dart board or pool table to keep you entertained.

We had a nice lunch today at The Paddock in Portlethen. They have a nice pub grub menu and lovely specials on the board and they also have a tapas menu. I had the veg tempura, there were loads of it and all very tasty and not oily at all. My husband had the highland burger which he enjoyed thoroughly, again, there were lots of it. My only concern was the guy at the bar who kept sneaking a smoke on his e-cigarette when he thought nobody was looking, in this day and age, this is not on, it’s still nicotine.....GO OUTSIDE!

We had a works christmas night out at the paddock on saturday 15th dec 2018 there were 10 of us in the party the food which varied from xmas food to pub grub the food was excellent the service was excellent and we all had a fab night there was a great atmosphere the disco was great and we were dancing to well past midnight cant recommend this pub highly enough the staff were very friendly and helpful will defo be going back for more meals delicous and very good value for your money great portions

Great meal and large portions. Service was fast and the staff were very pleasant. Pint of beer was very reasonably priced but I wasn't overly impressed with a "Large Bottle" of wine at £17? A bottles a bottle so no need for Large, I thought it was going to be a super dooper large bottle lol. We will certainty be going back there. PS there was a football game on TV at the time and was good to see such a friendly clientele.

We had a wonderful day, the staff were excellent. Our meal was delicious, served quickly.

Spaces very helpfull staff nice food

The fish pie was to 'die' for. So moist and creamy with a good selection of fish in it.Served with sweet potato fries. Mmmmmmm. Also the mini grill was delicious with lots of different 'cuts of meats. Popped in here for the first time and wasnt disappointed either. Just a pity the fish pie was a 'special' for that day and not served daily.

Another great meal at the Paddock. Had the fajitas. Kids had the fish and macaroni cheese really good value and excellent service 😀

A local freindly pub that serves reasonably prices hot food

Not a place for me. If you don’t need the cosy, old feel of a traditional pub and are happy with a square box of a building that feels more like a working men’s club then this place is for you.

Went with daughter for a treat excellent service and food well worth a visit.Plenty parking and seating outside if weather permits. Small play area for children.

Food and service were good but the place was so noisy and disruptive we are unlikely to return.

We have been quite a few times now recently and really impressed. It’s turned into our local ‘go to’ for a family meal. Food is always fresh and tasty. Service good too.

Pub grub with no frills. dont get me wrong its not bad, its what you wold expect from this type of place. Staff are friendly there's TV's for sport and new's, lacks a cosy atmosphere.

Great place to pick up some typical pub grub for reasonable prices. Never had a bad meal here and the service is prompt too. You won't get moules mariniere or a steak tartare here, you get good old fashioned British pub grub with a selection...

in the area on a friday lunchtime....had to ask if they were serving lunch...only 4 other folk in the place & they stood up to leave as we went in.... Got the menus & served pretty quick....opted for the HILL BILLY BURGER....basically a cheese burger...

Pub grub, nice and simple. We had two mixed grills, everything tasted good, steak was medium-rare (as requested) and not cremated like some places. Love the cider. Pint of that each and we go home well fed and happy!

Been to the paddock twice now for food and not been let down, great quality and portion sizes are good. Left both times stuffed and no complaints. Staff are super helpful too!!

Visited as a party of 4, service and food was good however you have to remember that the dining area is in the Pub lounge. Food was served at a good temperature, there is a fair choice of wines to go with the meal, however...

Great place for a meal with the family. Good service .didn't have to wait and the taste was superb as was the price.I would thoroughly recommend it. And the bar is dog friendly

Had a good bar lunch there recently. Plenty of large screen TVs to watch football, etc. Good choice of beer in the lounge.

Been here quite a few times over the last year and the food has been consistently good. The macaroni cheese was especially good - very cheesy. Service is always friendly and I'm always pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end - always less than...

I have eaten here a few times in the past. Never had a bad meal yet. Generous servings at a fantastic price. Very friendly service. Very family friendly pub. They even built their own playground to entertain kids. Can highly recommend it.

Went for tea mid week with my son and my dad, great menu with a lot of varied choices, great service, lovely pub food and very reasonable. The new owners have done a great job at turning it around!

Large and varied menu with all the classic pub dishes. Food arrived promptly and was delicious along with a very generous portion size. Very reasonably priced. Lack of atmosphere and the windows are clouded over so can't see outside. Seems to be a nice play...
