I don’t even know where to begin. This place was everything and more! From the great location, to the room, and the service, the whole experience was absolutely outstanding. Stuart is an absolute gem, making this stay the best we ever had! We felt so welcomed and comfortable. He was an absolute delight to talk to; we could have listened to him for hours! The breakfast that was provided was so perfect and as I said, no fault in the service at all. We came for a wedding, where they thankfully provided us an iron and ironing board for our suit and dress. Thank you Stuart and the whole team who made our stay so comfortable and amazing. We look forward returning soon! Alex & Daniel

Lovely welcome from publican was a nice start to our visit. Menu was mostly traditional, fish, scampi, burger, steak pie etc. There was also a king prawn dish which was basically battered prawns with flavoured mayo. Burger and fish both tasty, but not sure why coleslaw has to be served with nut roast dish.

Three star hotel? Only in price! The Redgarth exceeds all expectations. Our favorite hotel of the trip, wish we could have stayed an extra day. Huge parking lot, beautiful garden set in the peaceful village of Oldmendrum. This boutique hotel with just 6 rooms is nestled in an upscale neighborhood. Our Deluxe Double Room with Balcony was very spacious with comfortable chairs and coffee table, desk, king sized bed, shelves, and nightstands. The bathroom was similarly large with tub/shower combo and plenty of room for our personal toiletries. The hotel and rooms were tastefully and colorfully decorated. We stayed in the “Yew” room (loved this, being a tree-lover). The front view was of the staff parking lot (not busy) and the neighborhood. The back view from the bathroom was the wider view of the valley. The room next to ours (Ash) had a better balcony out the back. One of the best features of this room was the skylight with light blocking shades so we were still able to go to sleep at a reasonable hour amid the late sunset. We were able to walk from the hotel around the town though a car is required to get to Oldmeldrum. The restaurant was excellent. The bar offered a large selection of Scottish made gins and whiskies. This was a favorite spot for locals. The owner and host, Stuart, is extremely welcoming and friendly—we felt like family! Dinner was excellent. I had the Sunday roast—marvelous. We chose to eat both nights’ dinners at The Redgarth. Included breakfast was cold—fruit and yogurt and then pastries, cheese and cold cuts—very filling and fresh! We highly recommend this hotel.

We had lunch here on Sunday. Pleasant environment. Tasty, nicely presented, reasonably priced food served by two young members of staff. They were both friendly and anxious to please. Our only minor negative was we waited quite a time to be served our sweet and we had a time deadline to meet. It wouldn't put us off returning or recommending the Redgarth and we did meet our deadline.

My wife and I meet with friends every Christmas for a Christmas lunch Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our 2020 lunch had to be cancelled. Now that the lockdown restrictions are easing, we decided to have a late Christmas lunch to cheer us up and agreed on going to the Redgarth. We have been a couple of times when allowed and must compliment them on their precautions. I have always felt safe and comfortable. Each of us had a different meal, all of which resulted in cleared plates even although the portions were "hearty"! Lovely desserts to finish off the meal meaning four very satisfied customers. As a bonus, unlike the last time we were there, we were able to have beers and wine with our meal.

Heading out of Aberdeen towards Inverness, we stopped here for our supper on a Tuesday evening (15% off your meal during September on certain days of the week).First impression was that the car park surface requires sorting out a bit.The approach to reception was attractive with the flowers, lighting and outdoor seated areas.A sanitiser dispenser welcomed us at the main entrance. We were masked up.At reception we were approached by a helpful member of staff straight away and shown to our table (We had to reserve a table, over the phone, when leaving Aberdeen). The place was busy, with a fine ambience.Drinks orders were taken straight away. The surrounding light was a bit dim, and the font too small, to be able to read the menu without glasses. My meal was very good. It should be served on a larger plate, as my meal was nearly over flowing (which you don't see very often for under £15.....and that's not inc. discount)! A most enjoyable supper. A main meal was ample, as I left stuffed.

Heading out of Aberdeen, we stopped here for supper. I hadn't been here for a long time. The entrance/exit to the car park is not the best (on the other hand it does slow you down) because of the pot hole and undulating ground. We got there at the right time, as 30 minutes later it was packed, on this Saturday evening. Welcomed by friendly staff. We had a window seat by the bar, which wasn't a problem. A nice ambience. We'd made no reservation. Toilets clean/tidy.The young lady who served us was clear, informed, polite and efficient. Our food/drink was produced quickly. My haddock and chips were excellent (just under £15, which I don't mind for such service/attitude/substance). The batter was not greasy and just right, as with everything else. Even the consistency of my pint of orange and lemonade was bang on (and very cold). The manner in which our food was placed by us was elegant and deliberately delicately done. All these small points registered with me. Excellent service and attitude. Thank you The Redgarth staff, for a most enjoyable experience with my family. I'll be back.

The 'Garth' is a bit of an institution - warm welcome from staff and locals, comfy, clean, tidy and with a decent, mainstream, pub menu, cooked and served with care and a bit of pride that reflects in the taste. Prices are value for money but also reflect the fact that standards are high. You get good stuff, well presented and pay a pound or two [but little more] above the local norm for standards that never drop below it.Comfortable, reliable, and offers immaculately nurtured and dispensed Real Ales to a legendary standard. Spirits are from a decent range and, some will say, cheekily priced but wines are carefully chosen, very well dispensed and value for money. Whats not to like about this?

I had teh beef and venison fillet which was so tasty, my only criticism would be the walnut and raspberry mashed potato that came with it. The raspberry sauce on the mash overpowered all the other flavours. The walnuts in the mash potato though tasty were a bit misplaced (nice creamy mash with small hard lumps of walnuts). The dish came with gravy which is what worked really well with the meat. Their sticky toffee pudding is probably the best ive ever had in all of aberdeenshire. Defo will be back.

I went for lunch with my Mum and we were sadly disappointed. We were greeted by a man who seemed unhappy. A smile doesn't cost anything. My Mum ordered a whisky & ginger ale and it came with a slice of lemon? I ordered fish & chips and the fish was sitting on the salad and there is nothing worse than wet hot lettuce! Would also have liked a few more chips thanks. Mum had a meat dish, the meat was good but the potatoes were overdone. We also detected some animosity between the waitress and the man who greeted us. We were really looking forward to a lovely pub lunch but sad to say that we won't be going back.

A wonderful place to lay your head, dine, or visit for a few drinks. Rooms are all updated and comfortable. The dining menu is varied, as is the beer and whiskey list, and the food impeccable (had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding - tough to find). The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful.

We've just had a superb meal, with fantastic service at the Redgarth. The staff were all friendly and helpful, as well as being efficient. The owner, Stuart, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our comfort. The atmosphere was great, with the feeling of it being a proper local, but still welcoming to ask visitors. The food was well cooked and presented, as well as being plentiful! I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Very pleasant, comfortable surroundings and the staff are most helpful & obliging. The food is good, menu possibly a bit restrictive (not necessarily a bad thing), but very over priced; when all is said and done, it is only a bar meal, not a restaurant. The wine list very limited and over priced. The haggis is to be recommended as a started although I found it to be too salty but that could be just down to personal taste.

This is one of the friendliest places I ha e ever eaten. Always welcomed and nothing ever a problem,,we went in close to closing time and were asked to stay and offered a meal anyway... Great food, good portions and very good value.

We occasionally eat at the Redgarth - especially in summer. The food is better than average pub food, though it can very from average to very good. The beers, however, are unfailingly excellent and cellared to a high standard. I wish that there were more tables as the best seem to be almost permanently reserved for people who eat later than us.

Took my mother here on 03/10/15 in the evening arrived fairly early and the place already had a fair few diners eating. The menu is fairly straight forward pub food, they have a wide choice of drinks available the cider on draught was excellent.I ordered the battered Haddock and my Mum went for the catch of the day which was herb crusted Sea Bream our meals arrived swiftly the haddock was large to say the least and delicious. The Sea Bream smelt lovely and was perfectly cooked. The staff are very helpful and attentive without that feeling they are hovering over you.A very good find that I will be returning to.

We have been going to the Redgarth for years. It's the best country pub in Aberdeenshire with a great selection of food on the menu and many different beers. Proper pub food that looks and tastes fantastic! The chef never disappoints. Great friendly atmosphere which is good for couples, families and friends. The garden out the front is nice to sit out on a sunny day. The owner Mr Singer is always so cheery and always makes time to say hello. Highly recommend!

My sister-in-law was in Aberdeen on business and came to visit us in Oldmeldrum so we decided to take her to the Redgarth for an evening meal. As it was the Friday evening before the Meldrum Sports, we decided to book rather then leave things to chance. We were met by a charming young lady who directed us to our table and waited patiently whilst I went up to the bar to check out what real ales were on offer.Skipping starters, my wife and her sister both had Breaded Haddock and Chips whilst I opted for Gammon Steak and Chips, but with a fried egg rather than pineapple. As usual, ample portions, beautifully cooked. Our waitress attended to us well throughout the evening and never stopped smiling. As is his wont, Stewart came over just to check that everything was in order which, of course, it was. My only slight complaint is that, good as they are, the desserts are a bit expensive compared to the rest of the menu. Will I return? Certainly, and I shall probably still have dessert!

This is a lovely shop with a small cafe with ice cream counter. My grandchild loves the ice cream but not a clean table or clean seat today. All cleared but not wiped. Seats and tables covered in crumbs. Very offputting.
