The best restaurants in Scottish Borders Lowlands

Did not stay in the hotel. But visited the Potting shed Bistro in the grounds. Highly recommend the quaint little potting shed bistro in the grounds of the Roman Camp Hotel. Unique ambience, lovely food and great staff. In my view the best place to dine out in Callander.

A very friendly welcome from enthusiastic staff. We were only here for coffee and traybake and both were VERY good. The coffee was outstanding. The place was clean, warm, comfortable and efficient and we will definitely return.

Claims to be open till 9:30, went at 6:45, closed with no explanation and this isn’t the first time by any stretch, don’t advertise opening times you can’t hold yourselfs to

Wow I've never seen such scary stuff in my life my 4 year old daughter was so scared of the woman with goth makeup on like she had eyes bleeding was so freaky

Used to get a gardeners breakfast so thought I'd try again. Absolutely shocked. Where the breakfast used to include hash browns, no longer included now. Where beans were in a superate little pot, about 2 teaspoons of beans oozing in lots of juice straight on the plate and soaked the toast. One miniature sausage, one bacon , one egg and toast for £5.50. Will never throw my money away on their food again. Their coffee is even more expensive than the high class hotels. AVOID

Absolutely fabulous, good food and staff were lovely. I will be back thanks. I can highly recommend. The fried bread was out of this world.

Waited over an hour for bacon rolls. Drunk 2 cups of tea and then it went cold. Knew there was waiting time but when all new customers were being served before us 😡😡

Ordered and paid for single fish and cheeseburger which were on display, patiently waited and was happy to do so. Person serving took cheeseburger and was told no thats for delivery Just Eat by rhe boss. Surely customers in store should prioritise over Just Eat. Walked out having paid £12 - won't be back !!! Shocking serve again, this had happened before!!!

We were disappointed that Tesco refused to honour the clubcard discounts while we were shopping on behalf of a cardholder. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. Next time, we’ll be taking our business elsewhere.

The worst food I haver ever experienced., I just ate here and I feel actually ill and robbed. Cash only as well. Who ever is running this business does not know how to cook, fry or even make gravy. This business should be looked at by someone from the Food & Trading standards.

Not good at all, the fish and chips are horrible. Nothing is cooked fresh, the batter is awful, it smelt funny too. Couldn't even eat it.

Booked through the app at 6:10, and was told order would be ready between 6:35-6:50. I received a second email stating order would be ready at 7:05. When I went to collect, they struggled to find my order, then told me they hadn't started to cook it yet, and to come back in 20 mins. Eventually got my order at 7:45. Once home, I discovered one of the orders was wrong, and definitely not what we had ordered. An entirely frustrating and disappointing experience. I will not be back!

my family and I went for lunch here, we were a bit worried after reading the previous reviews. however glad we never paid any attention to them as its a real hidden gem. The cafe is not everyones taste as a bit retro, however we loved it! tea served in a tea pot with cup and saucer and the staff were very welcoming and chatty, nothing a problem, ppe worn by staff and all track and trace carried out. menu limited but has everything you need. we will be back when in the area and lockdown allows.

Food was 2 hours late already and then after phoning multiple times and being told it would “just be 5 mins” we were told it was cold as he had forgotten the juice and had to go back! Did a re order and one box of food was missing, they apologised but only offered a refund and did not send the missing food. V disappointing.
