Morrisons in Scottish Borders

Living nearby, we often shop at this store and whilst the supermarket has been recently refurbished, the restaurant has pretty much stayed the same. This is a good thing. I can’t express an opinion on the full menu but I can state with conviction that the FISH & CHIPS is without doubt, consistently, the BESTin the area. The staff are friendly and helpful and there’s always space, even though it’s often busy.

Very disappointed,this used to be quite a good cafe ,their coffee was lukewarm and tasteless,the bacon roll ,was just cooked and no more.The staff were pretty understaffed but friendly ,I'll think twice about eating there again

The food itself wasn't at all bad, but a shame about the cleanliness! We were in first thing in the morning for breakfast, while waiting on appointments. Ordered our meals with no issues then went to get cutlery... It took quite a bit of searching to find something that looked clean enough to use. May be the dishwasher isn't great, but not a great start. Took a window seat, and the table and sill were thick with crumbs! Obviously the meals were on the table, not the sills, but seeing such a lack of cleaning doesn't look good or inspire confidence. For this to be first thing in the morning, I feel there is no excuse. The food was fine though, and service too. If they could just improve cleanliness it would be a huge improvement.

So disappointing as we are massive fans of a Morrison’s breakfast, and this being our first visit to this particular cafe, we expected a lot more. I think they were understaffed on the day as things were a bit frantic. There was no-one consistently manning the till and incidentally, this was causing customers to leave. I then ended up getting charged for a tray that was abandoned, then when my order was recalculated I was overcharged (for a second time). Another couple of things - the Coffee machine needs to be positioned away from the queue. Secondly, I think you should be allowed to fill your mug when your food arrives - my Cappuccino was finished ten minutes beforehand. All of that aside and on a positive note, the staff really did try as best they could. The meal itself was good and the kids loved their snack packs. The ‘decorate yourself’ Gingerbread Men were a nice touch. And, as value for money goes, it’s an economical family meal out.

Don’t know what happens to this place. Last visit was unbelievable bad . When preparing food in full few cleanliness should be paramount prep area and staff overalls left a lot to be desired. I realise a lot of food is prepared but it could be kept behind the scenes the prepping and microwaving part doesn’t fill you with much confidence having to watch it ,coffee machine could do to be a bit hotter. Full marks to the young girl on the till who kept her cool in the shambles that was taking place behind her.

No toilets available due to inability to get a plumber. Try harder Morrisons. We like your cafes. Blue badge parking. Plenty of buses.

We ordered the ultimate Scottish all day breakfast & a roast Turkey Christmas dinner. My husband said the breakfast was good, there was certainly plenty of it and a bargain at just under £6. The Christmas dinner was disappointing. Warmed sandwich meat with stodgy microwave mash.

Excellent food at reasonable prices and available all day we use Morrisons cafes all over the country and have never had a bad meal

I brought 3 kids and a pensioner to the Morrison's cafe after shopping, and everything arrived on the table freshly cooked and tasty. No complaints, and the staff (especially the girl) were lovely - full of smiles even though it was nearly 6:30pm when we arrived, and they close at 7pm. It was also very cheap!

Came here for brunch waited 30 minutes for a sparse dried up breakfast! A poached egg as hard as a golf ball and a potato scone like cardboard! I really don't know why I keep giving this place the benefit of the doubt, except that it has such good parking and a convenient location! Please clean up your act!

We had the bid daddy breakfast to share, and it was a real disappointment, and really should not have passed any quality control check. Bacon, fried bread and tattie scones all so dried out that they were difficult to cut. Tomatoes overcooked. One egg runny, the other semi hard. Hard black pudding. Lukewarm food. Butter portions were served on top of the toast, so it all dripped everywhere when they were opened. We have had other breakfasts here - and at other Morrisons branches - where the overall quality etc is better, so we were disappointed on this occasion.

Have had 2 or 3 bad experiences here from stale sandwiches to appalling service but today took the biscuit. Went In as a group of 4 and ordered our lunches, one of us was told she could only have the sandwiches on offer even though I know they can make them to order! The service at the till was surly and obstructive! My 3 friends had long eaten their lunches and mine still had not arrived! We called the waitress, who in fairness was obviously trying very hard to deal with the shambolic organisation of the place, she chased up the order and told me ,after about 10 minutes, it had been 'lost', we waited another 10 minutes and gave up as all my friends had to leave! I left with no lunch and a grudging refund!

Last minute decision to have a meal here with my daughter and grandchildren, mistake! We waited ages on our food which was luke warm, over cooked and tasteless. Food quality is poor. Lesson learned we won't be back. Also the toilets are a disgrace.

I often visit for fish and chips with veg and a drink at the weekend. Parking is always available and convenient that you can keep an eye your vehicle through the window while you eat. Food is plain fayre and portions are plentiful and delicious. You can choose to have either peas, beans or mushy peas with the fish and chips and a regular sized drink currently for only £6 which is a very good offer compared to takeaway prices elsewhere for much less. Staff are always helpful and polite. The cafe area is clean with plenty of space not to be claustrophobic in any way. Access for wheelchairs is easy. Layout is good with easy access to condiments and cutlery. I'd recommend it to anyone for a cheap eat.

Usually eat here on a Tuesday night, some of the staff are absolutely terrible they look like they can't be bothered and food is usually dried out before it reaches the table as the staff are too busy doing not very much from the look of it and most of them have really bad customer service, has been getting worse over the few weeks I think a change of venue for the weekly tea out with the kids is definitely in order.

One for real foodies. From the moment we walked in, Jean (front of house) ensured we had the best seat in the place. Sausages straight out of Bavaria. Chicken Kievs so stupendous you’d be forgiven for thinking you were back in the good old USSR. Don’t even get me started on dessert. I thought I’d died and gone to tart heaven. It truly was a strawberry slice for the ages.

Last time we went to this cafe it was terrible 4 years ago but we went in for breakfast on a hope that it had changed and omg it has great breakfast everything was spot on nd even the young woman that brought our food out was great she even apologised for the wait which wasn't that long as it was cooked fresh so yeh thumbs up and will be back

Just ate here tonight with family. Waited half an hour for food which looked like it had been cooked and left under the heat lamps for half an hour. Not great customer service got a measly apology without a hint of a smile the whole time. The salmon salad was atrocious, the salad was all dry and clumped together. Wasn’t busy so there was no excuse. Won’t be returning!

What I like about Morissons is that you have a vast choice in how you want your cooked breakfast. It is reasonably well cooked and quite affordable. If you do not specify, they butter your toast.

En general buena relación calidad-sabor foid44 y irritable y la brekfasts son increíble relación calidad-precio recomiendo encarecidamente probar aquí si te sirvieran en la tienda y todos los niños comen gratis durante el verano. Tengo que admitir que el servicio tiene mucho mejor que era. Incluso puede ser un buen lugar para un café y ponerse al día si sólo buscas un lugar para hacerlo y áreas de descanso, para cumplir sevril la mayoría, si no todas, necesiten. .

We did some shoppingin Morrison`s then decided to have some food rather than go back and prepare something,the food was very good and very reasonable

Found ourselves needing some shopping whilst in Hawick and went to Morrisons and had a meal there as well. Busy place but the food was timely in its arrival, was hot and freshly cooked, and was tasty

Me gusta especialmente la porciones más pequeñas disponibles ahora en algunas de las comidas principales, es decir, el pescado y las patatas fritas. El tamaño era lo suficientemente grande. Las patatas fritas son siempre agradables, no cargadas con grasa de pescado, y el bateador se deshace en la boca. Tenía dos rebanadas de pan, ya que normalmente, son rodajas finas, pero cuando vinieron eran gruesas lonchas y realmente suave y fresca, así que me llevé uno a casa conmigo. El servicio era muy bueno. Restaurante bien hecho Morrison. 5 estrellas.

Visited last summer just for lunch staff disinterested slow isn't the word . Loads of people behind counter and one person taking orders! Pull your socks up Morrisons most other Morrisons are usually very nice!

Been done up since last coffee I had looking pretty trendy for a shop cafe afternoon tea two quarter sandwich n cream scone n tea £2.50 my couz got 4 quarter sandwich n latte it was £4.45 I think nice for price and quick snack

The food is tasty and very reasonably priced but it takes far too long for meals to arrive. My friend had practically finished her meal before mine arrived (we saw many people getting theirs who arrived 10-30 minutes after us). The lady who delivered our food did apologise but this has happened far too many times to be a one-off problem!

Poped in after shopping tables all dirty and had used dishes on them. Asked if the woman could wipe the table. What a look and the cloth looked as if she had cleaned the bins with it. Bacon roll arrived bacan was faty and cold left the food and left. I will shop at sainsbury in the town in future and pay a bit more for clean table and good food.

Very reasonable prices, food was good and tasty. Staff was helpful and friendly. A good place for fair price meal that fills the tum.

Morrisons are few and far between in Scotland so naturally we had to stop and shop at this one. We found everything we wanted, Chris, a staff member was most helpful when we had a couple of questions. A great experience as always.

Absolutely disgusting food, bad customer service , very slow. Tables not cleared and as for the high chairs , more food on them than in the kitchen ! Employee some decent staff !

The food here is really quite bad but it is cheap so expectations shouldn't be that high and It can be quite entertaining watching the traumas of the other diners, when half the groups meals don't turn up till the other half have finished eating, or their orders are wrong or missing something. A favourite was watching some poor woman try to get some simple cheese on toast. A piece of toast with a pile of cheese on top and the girl serving seems really baffled by the request to have the cheese toasted. To be fair other Supermarket cafes are also challenged by fairly simple requests, Tesco in Gala, the servers said they had run out of scrambled egg but I could have a fried egg and a glass of milk, the suggestion they combine the two to make the scrambled egg I wanted nearly caused a melt down.

Awful, filthy, shocking poor arrogant service, dangerously Luke warm old food, yuck yuck yuck. Pay peanuts eat like a monkey

The cafe food is very good with good sized portions. There is also a varied menu to suit most tastes including a childrens menu & an adults smaller portion option. This is a really good idea & saves wasting good food & money. The service is usually swift & they do good meal offers, including free meals for children after 4pm Everything is cooked fresh & really good value for money. The area is always clean & tidy. Always enjoy the food from there. Just because it is cheap they don't skimp on portion sizes or quality.

Absolutely disgusting food, very very greasy.. Your food is left sitting on hot table for about 15 minutes before they finally bring it over to you, can tell food is frozen, most of the time food isn't cooked properly.. Yuck

If your out shopping at morrisons and want a quick no frills bite to eat or to have a cup of coffee this is the place friendly staff and the food is quite good I normally get a baked tattie with tuna under £3 I think the wife usually pays so I'm a winner either way

When I first moved to Hawick I made it my mission to seek out and find the best cafe or restaurant that would sever me a full English/Scottish breakfast. Somewhat disappointingly after trying out over a dozen locations I found that the supermarket chain Morrison's was just about the best.There are several other great breakfast restaurants in Hawick, of which I'll write reviews on soon, but for the moment let me explain why Morrison's cafe is my eatery of choice.The service is always excellent. The staff rotate every few weeks and it's nice to meet new faces. The selection of breakfasts on offer is fantastic and they happily let me 'create my own breakfast' when visiting. There's always plenty of seating in the morning and the long South facing windows allow for plenty of warm sunlight. Above all, I like the speed of service and reliability of food.That being said, and apologies in advance if the staff read this. The food is... OK. It's typical of a supermarket cafe and I don't expect anything else. For some reason though the bacon always seems a bit rubbery. I've no complaints with anything else on the menu though.Bad points: I've never really had a decent daytime or evening meal. It is a supermarket cafe, so not very glamorous. During busy periods it can get a little slow and some times tables take a while to be cleared. I hope this is all just an exception to the normal high standard though.And to clarify, the good points: Reliable, fast, friendly, bright, easy, open early on a Sunday and always greeted with a smile.
