I came to show my visiting Spanish friend a traditional fish supper. Because this place is so good he now thinks fish and chips is amazing so I think he should stop now so he stays happy. The price is really good and i loved the battered haggis. We will be back and next time will have the battered pizza.

I went on opening night with high hopes. The waitress who served us had been hired a few hours before, on the day of opening. The iPads used to take orders all crashed when the WiFi went down. So orders had to be retaken but there was no paper for the waiters and waitresses to write on. So we waited almost 30 minutes for food. The Thai curry I ordered came at the exact same time as our starters. The fact it was tepid when I finally started eating it mattered less because it was so over salty I could not eat it. My starter was quite nice. We had to share with our waitress the fact the bathrooms were overflowing with paper towel waste as they had forgotten to put waste bins in the loos. All in all it was not a great night out. Lockerbie needs a decent restaurant so we will give it another go and hope they have improved. If they don’t listen and learn though people might vote with their feet.

This chippy has been going for years and the only one we ever used when growing up. Tried 2 others due to a friend’s local preference in the past and both were first and last try. It remains the only one we use on each and every trip back home and visit a few times each visit. No idea if it’s changed hands over the years but food tastes as good as it always did. The onion rings are always amazing, homemade. The battered pizza is a favourite and never greasy. One of us always has fish…..never been undercooked and always thick and tasty and we’ve never had a frozen chip in the 40+ years of getting chips from there!! So no idea where previous comments are coming from. First day of arrival on each trip home it’s always an Ivy Leaf chippy tea……. The only negative comment I’d agree with is there has, on a very few occasions been some staff who could be a bit more friendly but this is the exception and few and far between.

It's always a pleasant surprise to find a pub with a good menu using local ingredients! We ate well, the service was friendly. The pub has a large garden. This must be one of the best pubs for miles in any direction! My wife left her sunglasses behind, but Tim, the landlord, was super-helpful, finding them and posting them on. We will definitely go there again.

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More

If food poisoning was a picture it would be exactly this one. The chicken was soggy? The chow mein tasted like over cooked spaghetti and the beef curry was like a well done leather shoe. Bogging. Get your sign fixed

It's always a treat, going to this café. They do really nice cakes and drinks. We always park at Trent Lock and walk along the river to get there, which is a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

We holidayed in Drummore, due to covid, the Queens Hotel was the only available bar in the village. This was not a problem, the estrella gallicia was perfect, the staff were above and beyond helpful. The bar man knew his whiskies and was quite enthusiastic to point us in the right direction . All in in all, we spent a good few nights in this traditional bar.

Absolutely superb fish and chip shop, great variety of choices and all cooked to perfection. The wife and I use this chippy at least once a week and we have never been disappointed, everything is cooked fresh to order and is always ready on time. This chippy massively outshines any other chippy in the area and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
