I went on opening night with high hopes. The waitress who served us had been hired a few hours before, on the day of opening. The iPads used to take orders all crashed when the WiFi went down. So orders had to be retaken but there was no paper for the waiters and waitresses to write on. So we waited almost 30 minutes for food. The Thai curry I ordered came at the exact same time as our starters. The fact it was tepid when I finally started eating it mattered less because it was so over salty I could not eat it. My starter was quite nice. We had to share with our waitress the fact the bathrooms were overflowing with paper towel waste as they had forgotten to put waste bins in the loos. All in all it was not a great night out. Lockerbie needs a decent restaurant so we will give it another go and hope they have improved. If they don’t listen and learn though people might vote with their feet.

We were worried as we booked late, had a dog and needed something quick! They couldn’t have given us a warmer welcome. Dog friendly, clean and warm!

The place used to be brilliant, laid back, relaxed and most importantly good fun, but now with these new owners it’s strict and lifeless, forcing bar staff to close early and making customers feel unwanted. Food is absolutely horrendous, pints are hit or miss and the place is in desperate need of painting and decor, but instead of doing that they keep the place exactly the same? At least with previous owners the state of the pub wasn’t an issue as they welcomed you in. Whilst on the subject of upkeep, the males toilets could easily be one of the least sanitary places I’ve been, couple local lads say there aren’t many girls come into the pub (can’t understand why 🙄) so they just used the female toilets, apposed to being subjected to using the males. Which I completely understand as I’d imagine Thailand prisons have better facilities, this is the number one thing needing done first! I understand things done get done over night but they have been in for a couple years now and to not even paint the doors and the walls on the front of the building seems bonkers to me (make the place look inviting!!!) I also recommend not closing at 10/10:30 when you have people requesting to stay, would be extra money towards bringing the male toilets into the 21st century.

Called in at the last minute before taking in a show at the 'Buccleuch Centre' and we weren't dissapointed in the least. The food was really good along with the service that we received. We will definitely look to eat there again in the future

We arrived looking for something hot to eat on a cold, wet winters day. We were welcomed in with our dog and sat beside a cosy open fire. Good pub grub and staff were very good to our dog. He was fussed over and given treats. I happened to mention it was my husband’s birthday and we were provided with home made scones to take away. Couldn’t have asked for a better service.

The Crown Hotel at Langham has been taken over by a young couple (Samantha and Steven) on arrival we where shown to our room (unsuite. Shower, toilet and hand sink all spotless. The bed was comfortable, bedding and bed spotless. The food was of a good quality (no cheap sausage which makes a change lol) well prepared and presented. The official opening of the Crown is the 2nd Nov. This will include bar, restaurant and cafe. Nothing was to much trouble and Samantha and Steven have all the skills need to make this venture a total success if our visit was anything to go by. Would recommend this to all of you while visiting the area. Cannot wait to return. Good luck to both Samantha and Steven. We are sure you will go from strength to strength

The Crown is rather neglected and the People who run the place need to get the Cleaning sorted. The Place is lost in a time warp. The Service is ok the Toilets are Dirty and I would stay clear not been updated in 50 years. The Food is ok but not recommended as better places to eat in Langholm

The initial impression of the ‘hotel’ was quite negative. The place was shabby and stuck in a time warp and the decoration was chipped and past its best. I was shown my room by a very cheery lady, who asked if I was ok with stairs. I followed her up four flights of stairs and on the way we walked past a sign that said ‘smile you’re on cctv’! My room was basic and as I lay in bed at night I could feel the springs through the mattress, which made getting to sleep quite difficult. The small en-suite was also basic and the floor had a build up of thick dust in the corners. There wasn’t any heating on and every time when I said I was cold the response was that it had just gone off. I understand that the heating came on during the day. During the early hours of the morning I would hear people coming up from the bar and walking past my room to go into the room at the end of the corridor and then after possibly an hour I would hear them leave. When I asked who was walking around in the night I was told the place was haunted! The bar downstairs was male dominated and I understand that the rooms could be rented by the hour.

We visited the bar on a Saturday night. Music was blaring. Locals made us welcome ...we had to dance!! Could do with a revamp decor-wise, but it is what it is , just a man's pub for a pint or two. Staff was a lady who was friendly but who could 'handle' any mischief! All in all, just a pub.

Took my mum here for a birthday treat - it's where she wanted to try. When we went in we were told to find a table and a waitress would be with us shortly - half an hour later still no waitress or even anyone that worked there, I went to ask at the bar and was told they would get her, she was hiding in the kitchen. In fairness they did give us our soft drinks for free due to the poor service. When we got the menu's - there isnt much choice about 7 items & 3 vegetarian. We found the food ok a bit pricey £15 for gammon, egg & chips. If they had been busy I could have understood the excessive wait for menu's and our order been taken but they werent they had one other table of 7 in who had already ordered. To us it comes across as a shambles and we wont be going back.

Quaint high street hotel in the High Street in sleepy little Langholm. But just like the town this establishment looks like time has passed it by. The theme of the Common Riding - a local festival was its major selling point. We has a good, basic meal, nicely served.

Friday lunchtime; of four local pubs two were closed and one looked overpriced. So we tried this place, and it's the first time I've ever been into a pub and found the bar closed. We were hooked into a little side room where they were serving meals from a very small, basic menu - which was not on display outside as it should be. Considering they were all very simple dishes the food took a while to arrive; it was okay, but there was far too much overdressed salad. It certainly wasn't good enough to make up for the lack of a pint!

Travelled here bank holiday weekend for two days. We found it very hard to get a parking space across the road as there is no-where else unless your ok with leaving your car out of sight. Anyway, we were very warmly welcomed at the hotel by the locals. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We had dinner in the hotel that night and it was really nice and well presented. Derek it an excellent chef. We can highly recommend eating there. The breakfast was also very substantial. All in all a great experience. I would return here again, but would have to think twice because of the parking situation. Thanks Derek.

This was our third visit and we ate in the main restaurant, which we have only had breakfast in before. The Restaurant is in a lovely conservatory. The menu was a set price at £27.95 for a two course or £29.95 for a three course meal, which to be honest, although the food was excellent and served by pleasant helpful staff I consider a tad expensive.

We wandered in on a cold winter evening for a drink and meal but were greeted with silence. The barman just grunted and got our drinks for us with obvious resentment. The slight cold shoulder was very concerning so we left quickly. The stares and glares from everyone in the bar was most uncomfortable.

We stopped here for lunch and noticed that it was dog friendly so went in with our dogs. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Not a massive lunch menu but enough to have a choice. When lunch arrived the portions were enormous and the food was very tasty. We ate in the public bar which was full of character. Recommended if you're in the area.

having had a recent stay in the crown hotel I was shocked to say the least at the so called manager of the place he comes across friendly but his hygiene is something else for someone to be the face of the crown he needs to clean him self up, I was overwhelmed by his bad breath, as for the staff they are friendly enough but a uniform of smart black and white behind the bar would look better. the food was basic bland and slightly cold, the bedroom was basic to say the least not a pleasant sleep been bitten on my leg but what looks like a flee bite. wont be back

This was my first visit to Langholm and a group of 9 of us went for lunch. The waitress was very friendly. The portions were huge. I had the macaroni cheese and asked for chips instead of garlic bread and I struggled to finish it as did my daughter who had it with garlic bread. My husband felt there was a whole cow in the steak pie there was that much meat. My friends had the chicken coujons and said they were fantastic too. The service was very quick. The food was excellent value for money.

Today we visited and as it was a Sunday i decided on a chicken dinner, big mistake.Where do i start?Chicken was very dry and not hot, roast potatoes were small and hard, carrots were raw, parsnips were rock hard and had a bitter taste.Mash was tasteless and cauliflower cheese had a vague taste of cheese. The peas and yorkshire were ok but the latter was very small. My gravy was lukewarm so they kindly heated it till it was more like molten lava!I had to ask for napkins as apparently us customers cannot be trusted to use the dispensers!I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here, had an upset stomach all afternoon.

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More
