Nine Mile Bar & Bistro in Dumfries & Galloway

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More

We popped in for dinner whilst passing. We have eaten there before however the restaurant side has massively improved. The gluten-free selection was the largest we have found in the area ( handy as my partner has coeliac ) And the food both gluten-free and not was fantastically prepared, plentiful and great value. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Give it a go 👍

popped in for a quite drink,nice atmosphere staff and locals made us feel welcome,went back following night for dinner,the food was excellent so will definately be back next time visiting the area

not much to say about it yet ,,will let people know when i have been there a few more times..the new owners seem to be doing a good job

Lovely meal great service and very good value.Been here a few times and always very happy with visit.

Since our review for our last visit in March 2016, this is like a totally different pub/restaurant. The staff are all friendly and efficient and they have an extensive menu, plus a specials board from which we chose our meals. At £10 for two courses there was plenty of choice, we didn’t have to wait long for our food even though they where busy and the quality and quantity was very good. We would highly recommend as the amount of people that where eating there on a Tuesday night shows how good it is .

Stopped in for a break from the road and a bite. The building is unassuming. The bistro room has a pool table. The specials menu is on a chalkboard, sandwiches (quite good) on request. Friendly helpful staff, good vibe.

Stopped for dinner as we were passing, it was good but not anything exceptional. Served in the bar area it was quite noisy and service was a little slow, due I think in part to the fact it was very busy. People were being turned away due to the lack of space, an indication of its popularity. The menu was OK but not vast and the food was good and served piping hot.

This was the nearest place to where we were staying so stopped off on the way, food was ok , service very good and staff friendly

Just away from this pub just a stop of and what can I say amazing,got burger partner she got cheese pineapple salad and it was beautiful,great value for money one of the cheapest places to eat in and about Dumfries service was outstanding lady who served us very polite and will be back,thank you very much

Hemos estado aquí muchas veces antes, y la comida y la bebida es muy bueno, y los clientes locales son amables, pero hoy 22/03/16 en 1830 la vieja bolsa detrás del bar tenía una mala actitud seria, que es una pena, ya que hemos tenido muchos una buena noche aquí . Volveremos de nuevo y espero que la antigua bolsa detrás del bar podrá ver el error de sus caminos y ser un poco más agradable la próxima vez bueno eso ya

He comido aquí muchas veces antes, pero esta vez me hubiera deseado elegido a comer a otro sitio. Las camareras parecía descuidado y confundidos sobre nuestra orden. La comida era un largo tiempo yendo y era escalonados. platos secundarios no sirve y mis padres, que estaban conmigo quedamos muy decepcionados. Ah, y el proyecto de ley? ridículo. Por favor añadir y aprender a emplear personal que cuidado ... un poco ...

alojarse en este establecimiento familiar que han hecho varias veces en los últimos años. Los extras ... wc ... mano de rollo ... baño de jabón Mat se pedirá a la noche. Comprender problemas de ser tomada. Tuvimos que pagar por los extras que debería y estaban incluidos en el menú. Dijo que no había suficientes las patatas fritas para ir durante todo el año platos así que cobraron más? aros de cebolla en menú, pero nos cobraron? Empezar a la mesa equivocada ... Después de 5 minutos complementados y trajo a nuestra mesa? Personal intentó quitar la servilleta y cubiertos aunque no he comido? Reservamos mesa para 7 personas. Antes de las 8 pm los entrantes vinieron aunque a la mesa equivocada. sensación muy mucho de bolsillo y decepcionados. No volveré a este hotel.

Mi crítica anterior está debajo de esta. En esta visita el 20/9/14 tengo que admitir que cosas donde mucho mejor, sigue siendo el mismo propietarios, diferente chef, y un servicio personal. El servicio en la parte delantera de la casa podría ser más profesional, pero una vez que llegas a ver cómo está el tío, es el mismo de todo el mundo. La comida era mucho mejor que mi última visita, y ahora hay un menú de especialidades, quizás 4-6 de una elección muy por encima el menú principal opción. bueno, y ofrece una buena relación calidad-precio de los alimentos.

Este lugar ha sido un lugar estupendo para comer hasta mi última visita 26/8/14. El menú es ahora más limitado de lo que solía ser, no hay ofertas especiales en mi visita de todos modos. El nuevo menú es un menú simple para cualquier pub o restaurante para correr con. Es una buena relación calidad-precio y tengo que decir que yo no estaba esperando y se realizó con prontitud. Siempre es una pena que lugares quizás cambiar la propiedad, o cambiar de cocinero, pero necesita debe. No me voy allí, pero supervisará los comentarios de otras personas también.

También tuve la parrillada mixta y la carne a la parrilla único era un trozo de filete, añadido debido a la hamburguesa con arreglo al chef. Mis salchichas parecía Quorn, el bistec sobresaliente fue procesado, el tocino seco y quemada y el haggis y black pudding demasiado grasienta para comer.

We found this place by accident (poor us) upon arrival we were ignored and left to wait for a seat, a grumpy woman in her fifties practically threw the menus at us, didn't ask if we would like a drink. At this point we thought about leaving and I wish we had. The mixed grill consisted of a small cheap frozen burger, a 2oz steak a piece of haggis and 2 Richmond sausages?? That is NOT what I would call a mixed grill. The lasagne was more like soup and the kids chicken fillets were so chewy the both said they couldn't eat them.No one asked if our meal was ok. Tbh you are made to feel so unwelcome leaving was a relief!The old woman with the attitude shouldn't be serving people and as for the cost...for what you get, it's a rip off!Never again.

Steak pie is a pub grub standard, not much can go wrong, so why bring it out with pastry that is white and not golden brown, meal it's self was average. It's not hard to cook a piece of pastry for a pie top. That would have got an average and then we came to my wife's meal from the specials menu, not many veg and definitely not the fish she ordered. Why serve the wrong fish, why didn't they'd explain that there was no sole left or that the oven couldn't brown the pastry. Won't be rushing back there are lots of good eating places on A75 and some new ones to try

Been here four times now and the food and service have been excellent every time and the mixed grill is the best I have had in years.

Food excellent and very well presented.This bar has an excellent chefI had the chicken curry with saffron rice which was really tasty and authentic. My husband was also impressed with his fish and chips.Highly reccommended

Wow what a menu. It is massive. I'm not that keen on game but my hubby is so he had the venison dish. I had the chilli which was really tasty and had a nice wee kick to it. Hadn't been for years but will be back soon.

Popped into this establishment for lunch on a Sunday . Place was quiet and we are not surprised. The service was not very attentive and the place seemed a bit grubby including cigarette ash on bar! We had two mains which were ok but not particularly well presented. So you can imagine our surprise when the pudding arrived looking like a star in a movie!!! Never seen such a work of art, had I fallen asleep and woken up somewhere else???? Glad to report sticky toffee pudding was superb! Such a pity the rest of the meal and the place doesn't live up to the pudding!!

My wife and I recently ate here and were delighted at the skill and imagination displayed in the presentation of food based on wild game.Portions were generous (I did without my customary porridge the following morning!) and service couldn't have been more helpful or attentive, despite the dining room being full.Well done to all involved, you will certainly be seeing us again.
