Frying Scotsman in Dumfries & Galloway

Absolutely superb fish and chip shop, great variety of choices and all cooked to perfection. The wife and I use this chippy at least once a week and we have never been disappointed, everything is cooked fresh to order and is always ready on time. This chippy massively outshines any other chippy in the area and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Had a small munch box, although not that small, and honey chicken, great food, brilliant staff, and definitely value for money, will be back.

Chips were undercooked call yourself a chippy. shame thought the venue looked promising but the worst chippy iv ever had and I’m from Edinburgh . Wouldn’t give it to the dog. If ur thinking of coming here. reconsider

A "Chippy" that cannot even cook chips. Terrible disapointment⁹ The Indian takeaway in Newton Stewart was closed on Teusday so we thought we'd give this place a try. The chips were not cooked properly. They were so minging we had to laugh and award them worse chippy ever

Have visited several times and enjoyed the fish and chips and this visit was not different. It can be busy but is tasty and fresh with good sized portions. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Fish was tasty but hardly any batter at all , chips wasn’t very good . Friendly staff but not worth £16 for 2 fish and 2 chips

Ordered chips, battered sausage and curry. All excellent but couldn't understand why has to wait over 25 mins for the food. Worth the wait though.

We were the first customers when the Frying Scotsman re-opened under new management. and were pleased to see the prices had come down. However, we were very disappointed with the quality of the fish and chips - soggy batter, not best quality fish, chips limp and unappealing. Hopefully it will improve with practice.

Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips. Portion sizes were good and the chips were brilliant thick cut and tasty. Fish tasted fresh and the batter was really light Will definitely be eating here again Judging by the no of orders lots of other people agree!
