Cheeseburger was really tasty 😋 and I really enjoyed the salted caramel and white chocolate ice cream, yummy in my tummy says Bella age 7 😃😋 Battered sausage was beautiful, and the raspberry ripple ice cream was super tasty and extra delicious 😋 says Eva age 6 😃😋

Best fish & chips we've had (and we've had a few!) headed here after the tractor run & the place was packed but we found an empty table & decided to sit in. Considering how busy they were, we were served in good time. Batter was lovely & light served with proper chip shop chips. The decor is like an American diner, something like out of happy days with an old jukebox to complete the look. They also do ice creams of fabulous flavours which also makes their milkshakes! I was waaay too full to have one sadly but could have gone back just for ice cream another day. They also have pick & mix, we got a £5 bags worth, very heavy! It will be a definite stop when we're in the area.

Horrible man works there he was very rude to me and when they got my order completely wrong they didn’t give me a refund. I’m horrified with the man’s attitude he done the one thing you never do mouthed off to a customer

Just stopped off for a bag of chips! Just added vinegar. Man these chips are absolutely amazing they're just got everything I want good portion for the money tastes so morish I ate the whole portion and that's unusual for the.

Wednesday and Sunday, they do gluten-free cooking, and they are very careful when cooking it and serving to try and avoid cross contamination.

Staff could do with smiling occassionally

Been lots of times and been excellent but visited Sunday 22nd October and it was awful chips soggy sausage OK egg was like rubber couldn't cut it sorry won't be back so dissatisfied

Fantastic range of ice cream flavours and more importantly they do a gluten free night every Wednesday and Sunday. As far as I am aware, this is the only chip shop / cafe that provides a GF option which is a god send. The GF fish suppers are very good. You can ring and collect from the back entrance to avoid going into the cafe if preferred. Contactless payments are accepted.

This place was lovely. Food was brilliant and the choices of ice cream was brilliant. 4 happy people customers . Will definitely come back if down that way again.

Visited before going to the football. Food was excellent, chips done to perfection and the sweet chilli haggis was something I'd never seen before. Very much recommended.

A very popular chippy and the range off homemade ice cream that they have is fantastic! They have a sitting area. Clean toilets and generous portions. Sitting outside in the sunshine with lovely strawberry chocolate ice-cream yummy.Well worth the visit.

In Dumfries area for a few days fishing this week with 4 friends. After a long day fishing in cool temperatures on Wednesday we were ravenous and sorely in need of food. A quick Google led us here with plenty of good reviews. How right they were! Fish and chips all round (one gluten free) and pleased to say all was perfect. Indeed, we all thought this was some of the best fish from a chippie we'd experienced for some time. Very fresh and firm fish, perfectly cooked (so many chippies overcook fish) accompanied by lovely chips and ubiquitous mushy peas. Honestly, absolutely nothing to fault these meals, they were perfect. On a side note, the staff were lovely. Happy, friendly, chatty when appropriate and a joy to meet. Definitely on our list next time we're up this way!

You don't know where queue starts, who has been served, who is waiting to be served, all pretty shambolic.

Went specifically for Gluten free fish and chips, I wasn’t disappointed,they were freshly cooked and were delicious. The staff were pleasant, and didn’t have to wait too long

Well 1st I have visited what can I say service was not the best. Stood while so call management I assume in a white shirt! spoke to a customer for at least 15 minutes whilst I was waiting for an updateon order.went to toilet to explain water was coming through back of systerm lass was polite but then waited to yet be told was 7 inch pizza was veg with chicken,to then repeat my order and before I could say no vinegar on 1 orlf my orders it was on and also onion rings well and rest of nit best won't be back and given I've don't hospitality for long enough and also could have been a mystery shopper DISSATISFIED

I do like this chippy but I’m always put off by the apparent lack of hygiene! Seeing the staff constantly touch their faces, put hands in their pockets, touch their hair etc then touch your food always gives me the ick.

Got a fish supper and the fish was great but the chips were crunchy/hard like they had been dried out.

Is it new owner,s or something else? But I always thought apart from fantastic food it was spotless but today it shocked us how dirty it was . I have never seen a crumb on floor behind counter before today it’s was literally l it’s of paper etc everywhere, The Batter I have always admired how after you have finished battering u clean round the container with batter in it . Never saw fingerprints or very few on glass of ice cream it was covered, signs or leaflets falling off walls or out of date . Your canopy,s need cleaning your windows cleaner should be able to do it as when I had a fish and chip restaurant in Blackpool window cleaning people kept canopy fresh . Never saw all the staff laughing at something in side room behind fryer. Maybe if they have time is to brush front of cafe and clean behind counter. Someone took out a big tub of cheese in square why I don’t know and just left next to raw fish . I,m sorry your place is looking old and tired but staff are not helping by keeping it clean .

If you're Gluten Free then you've really got to come here. Absolutely amazing, a real treat having gf battered fish. And if you've room left then having the gf banana fritters is a must! 10/10 😋

We bough two fish suppers plus a sausage supper,fish and sausage fine,chips in all three were over cooked and hard,very disapointed, been a customer for many years owner was not on duty.date was the 11th September around 6pm.

You don't expect fine dining in a chip shop, and you get a fabulous chip shop atmosphere at Palmerston. Plus you get a widely varied menu - all the fried things that go with chips, pizza, wings and a big selection of Italian ice cream (Gelato?). We'd go back!

Arrived after 8pm to order food. Staff were very rude to other customers coming in after, turning away rolling their eyes etc which we could see. Made me and my partner both feel very uncomfortable. Doubt we will be back.

We were In Dumfries last night and said to the people we were with that we were going for a chippy. They recommended you. It didn’t disappoint. All freshly prepared while you waited. We actually sat in. What a busy place, everyone seemed to be ordering fish too. Chips are excellent and the fish was just fantastic, that batter. There’s a huge selection of ice creams too. Too full this time but definitely going to have next time I’m there.

Nice place, good selection and a nice fish supper. Kids chicken nuggets were a bit stingy in only giving 3 nuggets but they were nice.

An absolute treat in Dumfries. This is our favorite place to eat, the staff are great, menu extensive and the food out of this world. You won't be disappointed that's for sure.

Think it's the best ice cream around

Charming ladies. Delightful "American Diner" vibe. Interesting menu. Loads of ice creams. Fun. I'd prefer slightly crispier chips, but that's my preference.

Pizzas 🍕 are fantastic a bit slow in getting them out but well worth the wait. We get two 16 inch one margarita and one spicy as hell for £22 nowhere in Dumfries can beat that.

GLUTEN FREE on Sunday and Wednesday. Great service and delicious food.

Wouldn't touch the pizza here again. Ordered spicy beef and get the most bland, half topped, burnt pizza. Beef had zero flavour atall nor did any of it really. Didn't even bother to phone to complain as if there's ever been an issue in the past it just gets shrugged off.

You get the best jersey ice cream here ever. It’s superb. A must stop. Don’t have pudding in the pub. Buy an ice cream. Delicious.

Great gluten free fish & chips on a Wednesday & Sunday

Mac 'n' cheese is the best I have tasted. The staff are friendly and efficient. The fish and chips are the best I have had. I would give more stars if I could.

The food is great and it’s usually always busy which is a good sign. Although they sometimes have trouble picking up the phone for people who are in a rush and prefer to phone in so it’s ready when they get there.

£7.40 for a fish supper, cute wee sit in proper Italian chip shop that does many flavours of ice cream, and banana fritters. Fish - excellent, chips - good, 9/10, would recommend

The sea food platter looked really nice on the website. However calamari were breaded as were the prawns and looked over done. Huge amount of chips didn't help justify the £8. Shame really. Could have been great.

It tasted very nice, the staff were excellent and the food is cheap and delicious. Only problem is that my little brother mixed up the salt and sugar, and put sugar on his chips but that’s his fault. My friend says it was delicious. :)

Such a busy place! Plenty staff to deal with each customer and other than waiting for food to be cooked, everything was professional, done quickly and with a smile! Nice tall boy served me and reassured me that the food wouldn't be long. The food was delicious, piping hot and enormous portions... here on holiday so will definitely return next visit! 10 out of 10!

The food is amazing and is affordable the staff are nice and kind. The service is amazing sometimes you wait longer when it's busy but it's worth it with the amazing quality of food you get best chip shop I've ever been in. I highly recommend it. The staff accept kids into the cafe .
