It's always a treat, going to this café. They do really nice cakes and drinks. We always park at Trent Lock and walk along the river to get there, which is a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

Great cafe but unfortunately they sometimes close early . Despite advertising opening hours til 5pm , they regularly close at 4pm leaving us with a wasted journey.

We occasionally pop in here for lunch if we are out for a walk. The menu is very limited but we like what is served. So far we have only had avocado on toast with poached eggs and it was delicious. The coffee was easily the best I have had anywhere and when it comes to coffee I am very fussy. The staff were great. Be sure to log your car into their computer just inside the door on the left or risk a fine.

This cafe is the perfect little spot to grab a coffee, the atmosphere is unmatched with it being so tranquil and by the marina and the staff are excellent and have very talented latte art skills! Would definitely recommend

Clean cafe with plenty of seats near a beautiful marina. Friendly and accomplished staff taking their time to create professional barista coffees and hot chocolates with patterns on the tops. The 3 of us enjoyed our hot drinks, my macchiato was good and strong so was the vanilla latte. Well done to the staff.

Beautiful setting ,lovely spotlessly clean cafe however after being enticed by the seemingly good menu , was left feeling underwhelmed by our breakfasts ,the sausage cob was over cooked and the cheese on toast had just enough toast and cheese to qualify ,i rarely leave a negative review .however this time I felt it necessary ,😕

This is a favourite place of mine to visit although I haven't been since change of ownership. Newly refurbished we had a pleasant welcome by a friendly female team and was seated prompted to our reserved table (which was in the bay window, perfect) My Daughter and I had booked Afternoon Tea, though I would have preferred it at lunch time the earliest available booking was 2pm. The table was set upon arrival with perfectly matched cup, saucer and teapot which also matched the interior design. What can I say about the afternoon tea for two. It could have easily of fed 4 people, all freshly made on site, a mixed selection of brown and white sandwiches which were not cold - I don't like cold bread so we knew it hadn't been prepared earlier in the day and then sat in the fridge. Different to other Tea's I've had before this came with sides of crisps, quiche sausage rolls, pickled onions, chutney, cherry tomatoes and rocket. X2 large scones each with actual Lurpak satchets - never have I had this before, so gets extra kudos from me for this alone! X2 brownies and x2 locally sourced rhubarb cakes. All presented on a wooden platter board. Too much for us to eat so what we left got boxed up to takeaway. This is a perfect location on a beautiful marina which is lovely to walk around. Seating inside and out. The lady even said on a sunny day she will offer afternoon tea outdoors. I believe dog's are also welcome as I noticed a jar of puppy biscuits on the counter. The facilities were on site and immaculately clean. I will definitely return at some point and try their lunch menu - exquisite little stop off for a beverage whilst on a local walk. Another highlight for me was the mural map of the surrounding area. Go try it you will not be disappointed.

Oh dear! Went for lunch after a long hot walk, so desperate for a drink and food. We ordered 2 falafel wraps...half an Hour later we still hadn't received it so I went in to chase it up. Another 5 minutes later my friend went in to say forget it can we have a refund but they said it was ready so we sat down and it then came out. Unfortunately the wrap was a toasted pitta bread so it was rock hard and cracked and the falafel was cold. Apparently you can have cold falafel but I never have so on my first bite it was just horrible I couldn't eat it. We did get a refund thankfully and they said they were very busy but when we arrived they weren't and they were serving others who came in afterwards! Won't be going there again...there wasnt even a nice view like there is at other marinas where its lovely...like Mercia and Barton marina.

We were planning to go somewhere else but saw a sign for here and popped in after a waterside walk. Fantastic baked cakes and pastries and friendly service. The venue is lovely - clean, bright and welcoming. We will be back!

Visited today for the first time since the renovation. Cafe looks really modern & has a nice atmosphere. Enjoyed our sandwich, salad, coffee & cake. Staff were also very nice. We will visit again when walking that way as we love that it is also dog friendly. Give it a try!

I saw this place had changed and had been refurbished, so glad we tried it out. Lovely modern decor, spacious, friendly staff. Not a big breakfast menu as they don’t have full kitchen facilities yet but can highly recommend the avo/egg/bacon on toast. Best we’ve had! nice to sit out in the sunshine, and if it’s your kind of thing, it’s dog friendly :-) 🐕 good for coffee and locally made cake.

Today we visited and as it was a Sunday i decided on a chicken dinner, big mistake.Where do i start?Chicken was very dry and not hot, roast potatoes were small and hard, carrots were raw, parsnips were rock hard and had a bitter taste.Mash was tasteless and cauliflower cheese had a vague taste of cheese. The peas and yorkshire were ok but the latter was very small. My gravy was lukewarm so they kindly heated it till it was more like molten lava!I had to ask for napkins as apparently us customers cannot be trusted to use the dispensers!I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here, had an upset stomach all afternoon.

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More

Great atmospheric diner...very retro and great coffee. Good choice of ice cream and attentive staff...loved the old fashioned style.
