Such a comfortable bar with leather tub chairs. Very bright and cheerful bar and views over the nearby river Ness which haa a seal.
With over 250 whisky brands, 50 gin brands and lots of local beers you should find something to try. Big decision then is a repeat or try a different one !
Only had drinks but the food looked appertaining and reasonably priced.
Attentive and frienly staff.
Unfortunately their piano sessions are only on of a weehend but can appreciate that would be another reason to stay a little lonher.

We had the most amazing experience with Good Highland Food as the caterers for our wedding at 'The Traitors' Ardross Castle in August 2024! From the very beginning, they went above and beyond to make our day special. Yvonne, Mike, and their whole team were so friendly, helpful, and full of fantastic advice, guiding us through menu tastings and helping us select dishes that truly reflected our tastes and would delight our guests. They made the whole planning process enjoyable and stress-free.
On the big day, the team’s professionalism and warmth were on full display. They interacted with our guests in such a genuine and engaging way, making everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. Many of our friends and family commented on how relaxed they felt, thanks to the attentiveness of Good Highland Food’s incredible staff.
And the food – simply outstanding! Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, with flavors that were fresh, local, and uniquely Highland. Their attention to detail and flawless service made the dining experience unforgettable for everyone there.
Thank you, Mike, Yvonne, and everyone at Good Highland Food, for your dedication, professionalism, and for making our wedding weekend so wonderful. We couldn’t recommend you more highly – truly the best catering team anyone could hope for.

The Bearded Chef catered our Wedding in September and the food was fantastic! Aaron and Kayleigh were both absolutely amazing and we can't thank them enough.
The menu was tailored to us with new dishes and a personalised wedding cocktail as the welcome drink.
The canapés were great but the main meal really stole the show. Melon with sorbet, smoked salmon and lentil soup were our choice of starters. Followed by haggis sagaloo pie, chicken stuffed with chorizo mousse with paprika sauce, fondant potatoes & veg medley and sweet potato cakes as the 3rd option. For dessert we had a trio so everybody could have a bit of everything.
Highly recommend Bearded chef and would definitely use them again in future.
This is now call the Cabot Highland. We were in the area and trying to find some food to have for dinner without having to head back into Inverness or having dinner at a Hotel. This popped up and was about ready to close when we arrived at 5:45. We walked in and asked if they could accommodate us. Everyone was very pleasant and assured us they could. We had the best meal of our trip. Not only was the dinner lovely and serve good but the view phenomenal. I had fried haddock with sweet potato fries and peas. Plenty of food and truly wonderful. My husband had a bowl of chili with beer. Nothing fancy just really good food, great service at a reasonable price. We would return.
Turning left off the ferry from the mainland, Richan's retreat is the first house on the right, 100 yards up the road. Step inside to a genuinely warm welcome and a trip back into the island past. Run by a Westray lady married to a Mancunian exile, the cafe offer's excellent value basic fare - the soup was homemade and utterly delicious - accompanied by friendly conversation and a genuine insight into island life. The cafe also features handcrafts, all made on Westray itself. Not to be missed on any trip.
