Sea Breezes in Highland

The Isle of Skye being extremely busy and pricy, it is difficult to find a good place to eat fish. We liked Sea Breezes in Portree, because the staff made all the difference, the Polish waitress and the Dutch waiter managed to feel everybody welcome and be friendly and helpful, in spite of the door constantly opening and people wanting to get a table, which was annoying because the door was ajar a lot and it got cold. Do book in advance, it might take them a while to pick up the phone as they are short of staff, but they will when they have a minute. The mussels were absolutely wonderful. It is not a cheap place, but at least you feel you're getting value for money. What would gastronomy in Britain do without foreign staff!

I had a great dinner of mussels and a scallop risotto on 20/9/24. The bill was for £81. Paid £90 by debit card. Surprised to find on my Virgin Money App that I had been billed for £90 TWICE. I returned to the restaurant the next morning and was reassured that this was not true. Checked with my bank who confirmed that £180 had been debited from my account. Returned to the restaurant for the THIRD time to be AGAIN told by the staff that that was not possible. After much persuasion, I was able to speak to the manager (who was at another restaurant) that she would "investigate" and let me know in 48 hours. Poor treatment of a customer! Will not recommend this place to anyone.

This is a restaurant I always enjoy in every visit in Portree. It is small, simple and beautiful. Service is fantastic and the seafood offered is exceptional. We ordered the big seafood platter which was incredible with lots of mussels, scallops and two big pieces of sea trout. It's kind of pricey, but you take a lot of seafood and the quality and taste are first class. Book way ahead.

A very small but charming and welcoming place facing the bay. Very few courses to choose from but extremely tasty. Very fast service. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Reservation necessary given the small size of the place. Fixed price: 2 courses £32.5, 3 courses £38.5. Highly recommended

They only have two people, so service could be a bit slow. The internet connection is also pretty poor inside. However, the food is just fantastic and I like every dish ordered. Extremely pleased. Great restaurant!

Bad service. Never seen worse...more than 20 minutes waiting before we could even order something to drink...that in the summer! With small children! Others got their drinks, starters etc before we could order...this is a joke. You cannot have a main. You are charged the same as if you're taking two courses. You can't finish your sentences, you get interrupted when you order... no thanks. Can't recommend

Fortunately, I made a reservation in advance. The restaurant staff all smiled and introduced the food patiently. The salmon looks ordinary, but it is super tender and unexpectedly tender. The waiter recommended Monkfish, which is very delicious. Finally, the meal ends with a hot dessert. It's an unforgettable memory

The food was really nice. Completely recommendable. But the costumer service needs to be better. We’ve been hosted by a guy with grey hair that has all the will to not serve us. First he says that was full, can happen, and has not less than 30 minutes to have a free table, thing that wasn’t true because a table was already charged and leaving. After that, he told us that has no waiting list and we can’t wait inside because has no waiting area. Outside was raining and I was w my two grandparents. 3 minutes after that table left and if we didn’t insist to stay inside, we would be waiting outside. After that, a tall lady serve us, that was warm and kind. I would come back, but definitely dodge that guy

Great food, I would strongly recommend the scallops. The waiter was a bit rude when he told us to leave our coats in the entrance, but afterwards he was very nice and quick. Definitely would eat here again.

Dopo vari giorni di cucina scozzese “tradizionale “ sentivamo il bisogno di mangiare pesce e qui l’abbiamo trovato al top della qualità. Non grande varietà ma mitili e sea trout freschissimi. Cucina semplice e basica che rispetta la materia prima, materia prima che fa tutto il resto e ti fa felice. Personale gentile e simpatico. All in all abbiamo speso esattamente il doppio di quanto speso per cenare nei giorni precedenti ma siamo stati felici di spendere quei soldi. Consigliatissimo agli italiani nauseati dopo l'ennesima cena a base di burgers e fish & chips.

What a lovely place with a beautiful view of the harbor. Peter was a gracious and friendly host and waiter and we loved our lunches here.

What a lovely restaurant on the Quay at Portree. Very relaxed atmosphere. A great selection of fresh seafood. I had the cured trout with horseradish creme fraiche and capers followed by the monkfish scampi. Very tasty!

I cannot talk about the food but about the attention. My husband and my daughter wanted to surprise me fory birthday and made a reservation for 16th August. For whatever reason they called them to confirm the date after the table had been booked and they reassured them it was for the 16th. When we arrived they told us (in quite a rude tone) they were a 100% sure the table had been booked for 15th August. Not having a table booked in Portree in August meant going back home to have a sandwich. They ruined the surprise and my 8yo was deeply disappointed.

Lo consigliano vivamente se passate dall’isola di Skye. Uno dei pochi posti dove abbiamo mangiato bene in Scozia. Personale carinissimo e super disponibile! Da provare!

Restaurant juste sur le port de portree, ville très touristique alors les prix sont un peu au dessus de la moyenne mais la qualité est au rendez-vous. Le personnel est accueillant, souriant et serviable et la cuisine très bonne.

I was lucky enough to get the last table without a reservation. I only had one hour to dine, but the experience was very good during this hour. Mussel and Sea bass are both great! I will make a reservation in advance next time I come here.

This restaurant was a horrible ,unpleasant experience.First of all the servers were absolutely unkind and extremely rude at all times.I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Not a single star if I could help it! I called the restaurant on July 26th, Peter answered the phone and was very unfriendly and said that only the last table could be reserved on August 7th at 7:00. I made a reservation, gave my phone number and name, and repeatedly confirmed the time. I went there at 7:00 on August 7th as agreed, but Peter said that I had no reservation at all, so there was no table, and my attitude was as unfriendly as ever! I just want to say that you can eat seafood in other shops in town, don't go to this one specifically, after all, the food can not be evaluated, but attitude determines everything!

The friendly welcome was great and expectations were high. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. Very simply made, unfortunately bland and loveless, at a high price.

I feel like it’s the best restaurant at portree and I highly recommend. Both food and service were great First course mussels which is fresh and cooked in simple white wine sauce. Somehow the mussels are very very sweet which I’m guessing they may have added some sweeterner. It’s still quite nice Next has the scallop risotto. The scallops are very tender same like mussels which show they know how long to cook the seafood. For the risotto it’s a bit too mush for my liking. Also it taste like Thai dish which is abit sour in it. Overall it’s not too bad The highlight for me is the toffee pudding. It’s so good that it’s best toffee pudding I had in my life. The cake is warm n moist and so full of flavor. A must order even for non dessert lovers. The service crew is also great and I feel so warm from their service.

Reservations are definitely required, very hard to get a seat walk-in. Fresh seafood was great and service was great. Menu changes, so some of the items on Google were not offered when we went. The current menu is posted outside. For Americans, the Monkfish Scampi dish: We were thinking it was like Shrimp Scampi in the states (shrimp with pasta), but it's not that, no pasta. It's breaded, fried Monkfish with some salad and chips (that fries for you Americans).

Terrible experience, made us feel like racism. After we finished looking at the menu, we waited for about ten minutes, but the waitress kept ignoring us. So I spoke up and asked her, and she told us to wait "two seconds" (her exact words). However, she continued to serve others and made us wait another five minutes. I was very angry and asked her, "excuse me, what’s wrong with you." She said, "don’t treat me like that," and asked us to leave, so we left. The male manager was actually warm and polite, but the waitress was extremely unprofessional and even made us feel uncomfortable. We can't help think that this was discrimination because of our Asian appearance.

The ambiance was loud electronic dance music playing. Poor service, slow to take orders, quick to take plates, and attempts throughout dinner at up charging (perhaps because we are tourists visiting). Food overpriced and just okay seafood. 2 stars. Recommend the place next door.

Stopped at this cozy restaurant with a nice harbour and Portree's city center views during our Scotland Roadtrip. The food was incredibly delicious - the fish tasted very fresh and WOW the risotto, I will dream about those scallops for many months from now 😅 The owners were also very kind and welcoming! The service was very fast, perfect for a quick stop. Definitely recommended ☺️

Superb address but I took away a star for the service BECAUSE they do not specify that you can RESERVE a table which is very very rare on Portree. All the other restaurants don't do it hence the lines outside and they make reservations until 9:45 p.m. We ate there on June 14, 2024. If I had known I would have reserved several days before and as a result I came once at 6:30 p.m. and our reservation was for 9:15 p.m. We packed our bags while we waited.

Echoing what so many others have said, this was one of our favorite meals on Skye. We were lucky to get a table and found our server to be exceptionally friendly. I highly recommend the seafood platter or the 3 course meal with the breaded brie and spicy jam, the scallop risotto, and the sticky toffee pudding. What an amazing meal!

Amazing food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Everything we tried was very good.

Very good restaurant right by the water. Limited but well thought seafood menu. We had the steamed mussels (so delicious, not at all fishy, citrusy broth, generous quantity for 2) and cured sea trout for starters; scallops and roasted sea trout for mains; toffee pudding for dessert. All excellent, beyond expectations for a cozy restaurant with warm interiors and a welcoming staff. Together with a gin+tonic and beer, our bill for 2 came to £85. Well worth it.

The seafood Platter and Mussels and risotto were excellent (5), all pieces cooked to perfection. We also ordered the breaded and fried Brie that was exceptional (5). The server was hard to hear, noisy given a small restaurant and she was not particularly helpful to explain dishes or drinks when we needed a bit of help (eg. Are their vegetables/potatoes on the platter?, are there cocktails?). View was exceptional as we had a window seat, size inside was small resulting in a noisy experience (to be expected). Pretty sure you need reservations ahead.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. 100% recommend. Mussels were delicious. The scallop risotto were perfection. The best sticky toffee pudding I’ve had as well. Just WOW!

A real treat with very fresh and well-crafted products. A beautiful presentation. Very friendly staff, the boss apologized several times for giving us our table to other people. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to go there. The restaurant is not big, remember to make a reservation

We booked a table then were delayed behind an RTA. The staff were so kind and helpful and even tho we got there about a minute before they should close we had a full and delicious meal. The scallops were sublime and everything was fresh and speedy. Thanks guys

Partiamo dal un presupposto ,trovare da cenare a Portree a Luglio ,sopratutto se non hai prenotato non e' cosi' agevole come si pensa,fortunatamente abbiamo avuto la fortuna di trovare posto, previa prenotazione, in questo piccolo ma delizioso locale proprio al porto di Portree.Il locale e' molto caratteristico ma la nostra attenzione e' stata attirata dal vedere un meraviglioso piatto di cozze e gamberoni che veniva servito ad un tavolo.In effetti il degustare questo piatto ci ha fatto provare una esperienza sensoriale di alto livello, che dire il prezzo non e' dei più' economici ma cenare con la vista del porticciolo davanti. sorseggiando una Guinness" e degustando un piatto che ti fa' sentire il mare in bocca secondo me non ha prezzo

We were very much looking forward to our visit to Sea Breezes, and from crossing their threshold to finishing off the last remains of Cranachan, we were not disappointed! The setting could not have been more conducive to fabulous dining experience (down on the harbour at Portree, a watery larder if ever there was one) and everything from the Oysters to seafood platter was fresh and delight to the palate. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and engaging, and the ambience (an important thing to me) made for the most relaxed and satisfying experience (the sea food did also help 😉) Whilst the languostines were not available, their place was more than adequately made up with scallops, salmon and Mussels. I was in my element. The cranochan at the end was the perfect finale, whisky, oat, and raspberry to the fore. A superb night, thank you and the food was first class

It was a huge disappointment from the beginning. We had a table booked for 7pm on a Friday night which wasn’t late. We decided to order a sharing platter only to be told their were no langoustines one of their prized ingredients caught 5 minutes away. They were replaced with scallops. The salmon we were served was raw and had to be returned to the kitchen. The mussels became cold as we waited for our replacement and a fresh batch had to be ordered. I was with my niece who is local, and the was supposed to be a big treat for us. It was also very expensive the seating area looked untidy. Poor tourists experiencing this.

태어나서 먹어본 연어 중에 제일 맛있었어요 :) 관자를 버터에 따로 구워서 올려줬 네요 구운 관자인데 어쩜 이렇게 촉촉해요? ㅠㅠ.. 영국와서 먹은 음식 중 거의 원픽이에요. 음식에 노끈(?)같은게 한줄 나오긴 했는데 대처도 잘해줬구요.... 직원 여자 분도 예쁘고 굉장히 친절해요 :) 추천이요 !

The fish, mussel and scallop are really nice. But when the waitress let me 'wait', the look on her face shocked me a bit. But generally, it's a nice dinner.

Amazingly fresh and delicious seafood. We had the seafood platter for 2 and everything was cooked to perfection (salmon, mussels and scallops). Highly recommended and you should make reservations in advance.

I visited for quality seafood and a beverage. Jack, my server, provided outstanding and warm service. The Sea Bass and asparagus were excellent, and the scotch was of the highest quality. The experience was definitely worth the cost. I highly recommend it and plan to return in the future.

A must go!! Great money for value, delicious food served quickly! LUNCH is WALK-INS ONLY, recommend to arrive at opening time if you want to avoid wiring. They opened at 12:15pm instead of 12pm on the day we visited. Around 4-5 parties arrived before opening, last table filled at 12:30pm, but some people have finished and started leaving at 12:45pm and more people could be seated. Seafood platter - no langoustines on the day we visited but given 4 scallops instead. The salmon steak was HUGE and DELICIOUS! Sea bass was great as well!
