Food was decent, atmosphere and service terrible. A lady asked if they could share our table which we were happy to, then her friend arrived, stood behind me and stared until my partner hinted me to move (would it kill you to say excuse me can I just squeeze through?) Another friend arrived. Yes, 3 people in total asking to ‘share’ a 4 seater. The 3rd woman stood there, stared at us blatantly when we were still eating which made us extremely uncomfortable. A staff was chatting with them, I assume they are regulars. The staff did nothing when they were being outright rude to us and basically were kicking us out. The entitlement is sickening and the ignorance from the staff is extremely disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is probably the best bakery I’ve been to. The sweet pastries were incredible and they had a good selection of savoury pastries that included good vegetarian options. The coffee was great and they were open early which was a huge relief (as someone who had to catch an early train). There was art on the wall and the place has a generally wonderful and inclusive atmosphere. The location on Inverness river provides lovely views - it’s a genuinely special little walk between the bridges. Service was very friendly and quick. What a great place.

The location and look of the restaurant is great. My friend enjoyed their coffee and food, although mine was a bit lacking. The honey combee latte tasted a little funny and the sourdough toast was very pricey for what I felt like I got (2 slices of bread with one tab of butter and a spoonful of marmalade). We sat outside on a beautiful day which was a nice experience and they brought the food out to us directly. Perhaps if I got something else I would have enjoyed it a bit more so that may be on me. The seating arrangement and open kitchen was a good atmosphere though so I'd recommend coming here with a friend or two for breakfast/brunch.

Edit: I know the difference between cream soaked and raw dough, the gummy raw flour taste is obvious. You can see it in the pictures. I doubt your people tasted it, or felt it or did more than glance at it as it was almost immediately returned to the table, and if they had done then they wouldn't have been able to return it. It being raw I can say as a fact, as someone with baking experience. The response is telling, any bakery no matter how good, could have an underbaked pastry, a refusal to admit it is the problem. I get tourists are annoying, but any bakery worth there salt would have been concerned, not dismissive. The customer isn't always right, but they aren't always wrong either. Honestly makes me question all the 5 star reviews with similar wording and pictures...FYI you can look it up but Inverness has an fake review problem maybe case here. Original review: The pastry was raw, that happens. We told the wait staff and she took it away then came back and said it's supposed to be that way and gave it back ... Uncooked dough has an unmistakable flavour and texture. It wasn't undercooked it was straight up Gordon Ramsay's level of raw.... Hope no one gets sick

Been on many occasions, spent alot of my money on lunches and coffees but not anymore, after my last experience. Rude staff (especially the owner ) ordered vegan main which was very poor ( two slices of bread with filling no side salad, nothing) and soup which tasted horrible! had hard sharp corn in it, very watery! Two coffees and two cakes £39.00, a lot tbo for what it was. Told staff didn't like soup, took away, no " oh I'm sorry!, can I get you anything else etc etc just said nothing, them got dirty looks from owner, wrote a review and got a not so pleasant response! I did not snap at the staff! Yet they said I did! Need to come down from your " high horse" and be more customer friendly and professional.

Been going for a while but getting more and more dissapointed with service! Just finding some staff dismissive! Example ordered food, arrived tried it, did not like the soup (corn soup ) it was watery, had hard, sharp bits in it and a strange taste. Asked staff to take it from me explaining its not nice....not a word, not a question to ask why just took off me, no, "oh can I get you anything else?" Nothing just took off me and walked away!! Then got looks from other staff. If I'm not ment to not like the food. Its not the first time iv felt like the staff are not very friendly or forth coming! Time to find other place to spend my money. Can I say I DID NOT SNAP at the staff to take away, she asked could she take my daughters finished plate away and I said you can take the soup away too, it's not nice, I certainly DID NOT Snap at her! I apologise if she thought I had, but she didn't respond which I found strange and then I got a not so nice look from other staff, so I assume she felt I was rude and said, but I certainly was not! that is not me and saying what you said in response is not very professional.

A really brilliant cafe. We went in for 11am coffee and cake. The pastry we had was fantastic, we shared a chocolate cream filled croissant. It was a cold morning so we had some warming spiced coffees which gave us a heat for the rest of the day. Set us up nicely for some christmas shopping! I was so chuffed to see happy staff and people enjoying their work. Rare thing these days. The breads, some of which were still dough and rising in some proofing baskets, made me want to work there. Clearly there is passion in this establishment. Don’t change a thing.

Popped in for lunch on our three day tour. Busy. Buzzing. Deliciously tempting smells all around. We went boring cheese and ham toasties. It was out of this world!!!!!!! A particular XoKo thing we enjoyed was having the big long tables. It means that when it’s busy, others need to sit with you. And that opens up an opportunity lacking in our insular world. You do the unthinkable. Talk to strangers. Strangers a merely friends you’ve yet to find. So enjoying our cuppa and convo with our table buddies, we then headed off into the frosty day warmed by the overall experience. Well done XoKo.

My son loved this place when he came last month and convinced us to give it a try. The music was good and the food was ok. Not a massive fan of sharing a table with strangers and having drinks and food arrive at various times. The card only payment also makes it tricky if you prefer cash. My wife ordered eggs on sourdough with tomato. What she got was a mountain of tomato with some nice break and a smidge of scrambled egg. To be fair the bread and egg would have been ok but the proportions were way off. The bread ended up quite soggy and she gave up moving stuff trying to find the egg. I had the snickers sweet which was super sickly but the apple and caramel swirl was actually lovely. Their americano coffee was also very nice. Glad we tried it, but wouldn't rush back.

We ordered avocado toast with garlic pesto and smoked salmon toast. Abundant quantity, so don't go upstairs asking because since the bread is sourdough, you'll be quite full. Some of the waiters are Spanish speakers and the girl who served me also spoke some Spanish since she asked me where I was from when she heard me speak Spanish. In general, in Scotland people are friendly but here they are also very kind and helpful, they give the impression of loving their job because of the smile they offer at all times. I also loved the decoration. I wish I could repeat!

I asked the Xoco team to take on the responsibility for choosing a selection of pastries for me to take to my sisters birthday party in Edinburgh and they not only saved my last-minuteness from being an issue, but genuinely made me the hero of the party. I’ll admit that for the first ten minutes of someone asking where the croissants came from, I pretended that I’d been slaving away over them all weekend at my home kitchen. But most people saw through it so I told them about Xoco and that made more sense to everyone involved. But literally everyone loved every one of what I’d brought. I gained massive party-points, the beautiful pastries made up for my pitiful attempt at buying a present (genuinely socks…) and the whole evening revolved around the pastries so small talk was way easier than usual! Incredible, thank you so much Xoco team!

As a Muslim family we were really grateful for the existence of this cafe, as otherwise halal options were very limited in the town especially for breakfast. Three of us had the lentil soup with sourdough bread which was really filling. My dad had the cornish vegetable pasty which was also quite tasty, and my brother had the a waffle with fruit and cream - I was surprised at how soft and fluffy the waffle was, having not been very well acquainted with vegan food before! The drinks were also really good too - I loved the hazelnut hot chocolate especially! Plus, the focus on sustainability was very welcome e.g. details of where key ingredients such as coffee beans come from. In general the food is a bit on the pricey side, but given the focus on sustainability as well as how tasty everything was, it was definitely worth it. Thank you Wildcat!

The ice cream was simply amazing, tasted great and had a perfect consistency. The service was also great: friendly, fast and attentive. I'd love to come back!

The restaurant was quite cool (even with a jacket) and the food (seafood platter) wasn't really hot either. For the price, the taste is absolutely below average, but you can afford it because it's a tourist hotspot.

What a gem of a place. Plenty seats at the back and a lovely sitting area outside also Dropped in for lunch, after having a lovely breakfast previously, and it didn’t disappoint. Home made tomato soup was lovely, and I had it with a cheese scone, which was also delicious. Finished with a pot of chai ginger tea with honey and milk. All for around £10.
