The best restaurants in Midlothian South Midlothian Edinburgh and Lothian

Collected food from here a few times. Breakfast rolls and lunches have been great! Definitely been missing them while they are closed during this lockdown!! Hopefully they will be open soon

First time visiting and will absolutely be back. Staff were lovely and welcoming, food was exceptional. Everything was tasty and delicious

Had an amazing Xmas Brie and cranberry bagel and Xmas gingerbread coffee. Well needed on a cold day. Service is always great

Upmarket restaurant in a small country village serving a delicious, good quality range of food. We enjoyed Saturday night dinner at this restaurant and I was particularly impressed when the days special was Ox Cheek. It did not disappoint! I enjoyed a melt-in-the-mouth beautifully prepared dish and was toiling to finish it all. Thankfully we'd shared bruschetta to start...the portion was more than enough for two and it was delicious. I'd highly recommend 119 and will most definitely be back.

Updating my original review from a few years go - Two cask ales, always in excellent condition, usually from a local brewery. Highly recommend the food too.

Lovely owners, very friendly and love a wee chat! Food made to order and waiting time great! We had chicken fried rice and beef fried rice with free prawn crackers on the side. Both were delicious and would highly recommend this place

The Dean is a great place to go for food and beverages before or after a tour of the National Mining Museum in Newtongrange. We had their special house pasta and pizza. Both were very tasty and service was quick and friendly. This is a local place, so prices were very reasonable.

Just a nice day out with a friend for lunch and time out .lovely meal and lovely service. Pity the after sales service was shocking taking more than 3x times extra amount out of my account and ignoring E mAils and hanging up on my calls

A hidden gem in a lovely setting near Edinburgh. Friendly service, the best bacon rolls ever, delicious scones, cakes and traybakes, along with excellent coffee or tea and a variety of soft drinks. A bonus is the craft work on sale made by local artisans. Can't recommend it enough! Eliz

This place was amazing friendly and extremely lovely food. Sadly its closed due to issues with pipes/drainage all us locals are still hoping it reopens had the best macaroni in midlothian (in my opinion) and was handy to grab a coffee while waiting on the train.

Car park full of pot holes more so at entrance Ladies toilet's at back door let's itself down . Needs renovation. Food good no complaints there Staff are very good and attentive.

Visited as a family group of 5 and everyone had nothing but good things to say on the journey home. Already showing signs of improvement since the recent takeover, particularly with presentation. Manager stated their plans to introduce a few more steak and seafood dishes with an onus on local, fresh sourced ingredients. Will definitely be back to sample the new menu whenever it gets launched. The drinks selection was limited but I'm sure this is something they will address. Images are the brie starter and beef burger with added haggis and cheese. Both very tasty. Only slight negative was the bun was a bit dry/stale

Poor dirty Went in for takeaway wot a mistake ,overall not good all round ,since then rat infection closed down last year ,last month seen pest patrol outside that should have scared me of ,also as of today hygiene rating improvement needed this is even though shut down previous ,yiur risk your health

Ive heard mixed reviews but thought I would try it here and I loved it. Took about 25 minutes for food to be ready but that's normal for places! Food was good couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly aswell. Will definitely be going back.
