Absolutely terrible service, we never received our food and after several calls to the restaurant they finally informed us the driver was scared to make the delivery because it was dark outside, what?? We have requested a refund and may need to go the legal route on this one.

No heating, no other customers, linoleum floors, watery and tasteless curries. Not very inspiring or appealing I’m afraid.

Every week we order carry out meals from this establishment but tonight we decided to book a table for 5 family members to celebrate Fathers Day. The exterior of the restaurant is in need of repair and much paintwork, but the food is normally pretty good. We arrived and were shown to a table but within the space of 30 seconds a fly made an appearance. Thinking this was just a rogue insect, we ordered food and drinks and settled down for an enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, the rogue fly had decided to invite numerous family members to our table and before long we (and a waiter) were swotting them with menus and napkins, and unsuccessfully wafting them away from our food. Before long, we conceded defeat and decided to leave our half eaten main meals to get out of a very uncomfortable environment. My daughter went to the desk to pay for our meal (c£147) and expressed her disappointment and disgust regarding the fly infestation when she was asked if everything had been okay. No offer of a discounted bill or any other offer of compensation, but just a business more than happy to take all the money for a sub-standard experience. As a result of this, we won’t be back and we certainly won’t be coughing up the £50+ we spend on a weekly basis for the carry out food. Disgusting.

Clearly states £6.95 for a korma but on the phone they are trying to charge me £8.95 stating that is the wrong and it was changed a month ago when its on there right now!! At £6.95, then when i rang back to question thd price of my order the man was extremely rude & hung up on me without giving me the price!! Will never order from there again!! Customer service deserves a 0/10 absolutely shocking!! The anount of mondy we have soent at that place!!

Have eaten from here a number of times. Sometimes it’s pretty good, sometimes it’s average. Last nights was ok. I had the tandoori mixed grill which wasn’t very tender. It was all mixed together in a bag as opposed to being set out nicely in a box and it didn’t look very appetising. I also ordered fried chickpea rice which was not bad. I also decided to get Takra Dall which was sadly lacking flavour and was a bit mushy. Everyone else at the party seemed to enjoy their dishes so maybe I just ordered the wrong things. We did also notice that one of our vegetarian dishes wasn’t included in our order. Thankfully we had ordered enough already for everyone. Our food was ready for collection very promptly.

We have, over the years, eaten in and had takeaways from here many times.Being Vegetarian, we have always gone for side dishes rather than a main . However, since lockdown, we have not been in the area, so as we were passing, I phoned in an oder. It was ready on time and that's about all I can say good about it ! The Onion Bhajis were like a squashed ball of gram flour with a few onions thrown in , very doughy. The Pilau rice was bland , the Naan bread were sweet and again, doughy . The dahl curry had whole cloves of garlic in it and chunks of coriander leaf with stems and again was bland . It was like they could not be bothered to chop things correctly. The other 2 side dishes were both bland and again, had chunks of unchopped coriander leaves and stalks in. The whole meal tasted like they had run out of salt, it was so tasteless, apart from the heat of the chillies . We will never be back . I wonder if it's had a change of staff since lockdown ?!? It's the first time we have ever had such a bad Indian meal .

I am so terribly disappointed we have been loyal customers to this restaurant since moving to the area. Until now I went in to order and asked which main courses were vegan I was told he was far to busy for that as he was a driver down!! To look at the menu and figure it out myself. There is no vegan menu and no dishes are marked as vegan on the menu hence going in rather than ordering online. I had quite a big order and made the decision to go elsewhere. However it was incredibly rude and really quite embarrassing to be snapped at a d treated like an inconvenience in front of diners in the restaurant. The customer in front of you should be your focus. I won't be back.

Do not go anywhere near this place, the food is disgusting, burnt and not fit to be eaten. Phoned to complain and the manager was very abusive.

Fantastic food and great staff, very friendly and chatty without been a pest. Would recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone in the area or visiting the area. Has a great car park too !!

Just been for a meal and drinks tonight. Absolutely could not fault the food at all. I had a coconut chicken tikka Masala and it was so delicious. My partner had king prawn saag and the same., found it delicious. We had garlic Nan and rice. Best Indian food I’ve eaten. Beautiful food and great service in the restaurant.

Having an overnight stay at Heriot . The nearest food was to be found in Gorebridge . Memories of India . On arriving the outside of building resembled a run down garage , desperate for a lick of paint , and refurbish . I ordered, Mix kebab starter , Lamb Madras , Saag Aloo , Saffron Rice , 2 popadums , 1 Chapati . Waiter said he would bring out to car when ready. Less than 5 minutes later food arrived . What does that tell you ? Mix Kebab was dry . Rice was bland / old . Chapati was hard . All in all been very generous to rate average. Would not return . Very disappointed in Scotland , as the Takeaways are normally of high standards .

I have placed a few orders from here before and have never had a problem, i placed an order today for pick up and we always get the same food which included 3 garlic naan breads. All 3 garlic naan tasted very sour and none of us could eat these and parts of the naan was still doughy. Phoned the restaurant who talked with the chef and said they chef made this a different way. I have ordered garlic naan from different restaurants and I have never experience any sour taste from the bread. With the naan being sour we needed up not eating the rice and korma sauce as this did put us off the meal. After this occasion I shall not be ordering again

I regularly order food from this restaurant and have never been disappointed. Although the place looks very modest from outside, the food is absolutely delicious and of a good quality. The prices are reasonable and the service is great . I recommend Maharam Chicken Tikka Massalam as a mild option (my partner isn’t good with spice), Jhansi Lamb Jalfrezie and Old Delhi Lamb Rezala as medium spiced options. I love their Peshwaari naan and Mushroom Rice. Highly recommend this place!

Food was beautiful and delivered to the door. The rice isn't dry as you get some places and the nan breads were beautiful. Definitely will be back and it's very local too.

We ordered two Lamb Samosa two Lamb bhuna I ordered one Mushroom fried rice and two garlic naans .The Restaurant Is beautiful the staff friendly and polite .The Food was excellent and delicious .Only one problem I found was the Lamb Samosa which were very pricey for what they were .Everything else was perfect

Great food always top quality, we usually get a take away, never disappointed, We went for a family meal mid week three courses, nine adults and a toddler, it was a lovely atmosphere with a warm welcome. Great price, the service was excellent, however not intrusive. Everyone meal was excellent, thank you to the staff, will definitely be back

Really great place for couples. Has around 10-15 tables. The food really is top class and certainly the best in Midlothian in my opinion. Because it is small the attention to detail and service is better that the others we have locally. Well done keep up the good work.

This believe it or not is a peshwari naan that was delivered without food tonight which went straight into the bin.

Went here for a works night out and cannot recommend this place hightly enough. The food was amazing a decent portion sizes plus they happily accommidated everyones preferences and every dish gets your tastbuds going. The service was first class and would put more upmarket restaurants to shame and the tables were all dressed in pristine white linen. Wish this restaurant was closer to home as I would use it more but it is also worth the journey. Was also amazed at the volume of drop in customers for a takeaway and the amount of deliveries that were done as well as this is also a sign of a good eatery

Had a great night in this lovely restaurant Received a very warm welcome from staff on arrival Fantastice food with first class friendly service. The food was freshly cooked, extremely taste and hot on arrival at the table.It was excellent value for money and will definitely go back again.

My birthday...been a loyal customer since opened ..sit in and delivery. Tonight my birthday, partner at work so fancied 2 prawn puree starters £11.50..minimum order for delivery states£10 .. but would not deliver 2 starters ..why ..cause we won't.. end of a good relationship..your lose greedy boys

Get a takeaway from here most Saturday nights and the food is always nice ,freshly cooked and service is perfect , had visitors and they were very satisfied with there currys , 😀😀

Judge for yourselves but all I can say is if any restaurant thinks sending out undercooked chicken to their customers they should be shut down

Great food ,first class service at a very good price also a pleasant place to dine,it was very quiet when we first arrived but filled up later on they also do take a way and it was very busy.

Had a great birthday night out at Memories of India. Excellent menue, great service and modestly priced. And they have car parking which is another plus.

Stopped here on the spur of the moment. Interior quite basic. Food was delicious,served quickly and service was really good.

we have visited this indian on a few occasions and it doesn't fail your taste buds the mid week menu is superb value with plenty choices the staff are very attentive and not to pushy we will return

We live locally and this restaurant is our go-to for takeaway food. My Just Eat history is essentially only this restaurant! We tend to order the same thing each time: any of the puree starters (the size of which is actually quite enough for a filling meal alone) followed by Mussoorie Daal Chicken with a rice and naan and possibly Mattar Panir side. For two people this is easily enough food for a substantial dinner with enough left over for two lunches. We often dine or or order takeaway food when we have guests. This means we've tasted a good variety of things on the menu (even though we always order the same thing) and everything is consistently delicious. The restaurant itself is fairly small but is a nice calm and relaxed place for an Indian meal if you don't fancy washing dishes after takeaway food.

I wasn’t that impressed I’m sorry to say. The vegetarian Kashmiri Sabzi Karahi was harshly spiced and the mixed pakora was very dry. Portion size however was good. Pleasant staff.

My family regularly (around once a month) have food to takeaway from this exceptional restaurant. The quality and customer service are consistently high. We have been eating at Memories of India for many years and have only had cause for complaint on one occasion (years ago), where food was too salty, and we were offered a replacement or refund with a very sincere apology.

This place never lets us down, either sitting in or takeaway,excellent food and service. Have visited on numerous occasions as a couple or with family who are vegetarian,there is a wide range of vegetarian options. Easy parking.

Been a few times lately tandoori chicken tough and hard as if chilled etc not fresh and soft etc like bombay spice .madras and buna seemed the same sauce .meals and take away s far to quick as if part cooked etc could be wrong but seen getting it in 10 15 mins etc.

Found this restuarant on my way home from Edinburgh and it was a great find. Staff were very pleasant and helpful from the outset and nothing was too much to ask. Great service and delicious food, very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

We use Memories of India mostly for carry out and the food is delicious, tasty authentic Indian food. Fantastic wee spot for lunch after a trip to the mining museum.

Love this restaurant have moved further away but thankfully they still deliver to our new area. Tried other places but nothing compares. If you get a delivery they are always super fast

Tried their meal deal for 2 - it was brilliant. No skipping on quality or quantity. Would recommend. Delivery was fast and food was hot.

Go here regularly and have never been dissapointed. Would espe ially recommend their veggie korma. Staff are always pleasant too

From the call to order to the delivery the experience was great, the guy on the phone was friendly and helpful, I was told the delivery would be an hour, this was during the tale end of exceptionally bad weather, it took 40 minutes and the food itself was superb, hot and tasty. We would recommend their takeaway service as the best in the area. We have never been disappointed.

I am writing this review as other family members are finishing off their meals. Sadly only half of our order was delivered so unfortunately I am sitting here waiting for the driver to come back with what will likely be cold food.

Came here for a meal a few years ago and it was lovely. Got a take-away the other day and it was just as nice. The food came quickly and was very tasty and fresh. Prices are reasonable also which a bonus. Overall a great place if you love Indian food!

Fantastic one off the best indian meals I have had. Very very tasty the jalfrezi was hot n spicy mmmmmm friendly staff and cold beer. Cant get much beter than that.

This was the second time I've stopped off at Memories of India. I've had good meals on both occasions. The staff are welcoming, despite my late arrival - they close at 11 o' clock and are fairly close Edinburgh airport, so I can get a quick bite on the way to the borders. This time, the poppadoms were a bit stale, which was a shame, but the dips and pickles are fantastic. The naan breads are beautiful too - soft, freshly baked and doused in butter. Starters and mains are good - some of the sides seem to have a common sauce base, which gets a bit samey if you have more than one. Cobra lager is bottled, no draught. The spicing is not hot, but is tasty. Prices are reasonable. I'd recommend it, if you're in the area.

Me and the wife had a takeaway delivered from Memories of India. It was ok but no better than what you can buy from the supermarket and heat up in the oven at a fraction of the price

We eat here often. Staff are very hospitable. The only better curries I have had are in Mumbai and my own concoctions.

Tenía grandes esperanzas para este restaurante ya que está en mi trayecto hacia y desde el trabajo. Mi familia estaba celebrando así que decidimos venir aquí. Mala cosa. Era mejor que cualquier otro restaurante de la India. La comida no era impresionante. Los manteles y cortinas donde manchas. El servicio fue forzada y sincero. La comida era medianamente razonable.

We have ordered food from MOI three times in the past 6 minutes months .The first two occasions the lamb was so chewy it was inedible, the man breads arrives soggy and the chicken was clearly just added to the sauce after the microwave ping .On both occasions it was very busy - football and a holiday weekend so we wondered if they were just cutting corners due to being overwhelmed however the last time we ordered the portions had gotton smaller , two dishes plus rice and nan and a side cost around 30 pounds for take a way and it was a week night so no excuses -same problems with the the food. It's a shame this place appears to cater for the lowest locally accepted standards - when I opened years ago it was so much better .

Just returned to this restaurant after about 18 months for no other reason than we haven't had a takeaway Indian in this time even better than remembered fast polite service warm and friendly welcome couldn't do enough for me a bit more expensive than other places but worth it flavours were magnificent won't be leaving it as long this time

Here is a Indian resturant not many sit ins in the area so try food is good but you get faned with smell from kitchen when door opens so dont go all glamed up you may smell for a day or two

Have used as sit in but most often carry out. Wife is hard to please when it comes to Indian food but has never been disappointed by the food, service or friendly staff. Can't say enough good about the quality and consistently excellent food.

We have both eaten-in and, more recently, ordered a late takeaway (with delivery), and on both occasions have had a good experience. Especially with the takeaway, rather an afterthought when coming back late on a Saturday to an unexpectedly empty fridge (translation: my wife refused to cook), the flavours of the Chicken Rogan, the Maharam CTM, and the Balti King Prawn Rushni were complex and rewarding (albeit the CTM was slightly too sweet for my liking). The driver also checked directions before setting out, which was a good idea, and generally the service on both occasions was cordial.We will go back again, not least as this is currently our 'local' Indian restaurant, but primarily because it absolutely hits the spot.

Dropped in for dinner last night with some family who were visiting from Oxford. I love this restaurant and my family were very impressed also. I'm glad to see the return of the Mon-Thurs set menu, it's such great value. Anyone who orders takeaway from here, should visit for a sit-down meal sometime. You won't be disappointed.

Being local and loyal I have frequented this place for many years. Always polite, always friendly, quick to serve as well as chat then the food is just always great. They spin all the plates as far as I'm concerned and come highly recommended from me. Highly recommend

The only issue i have is the consistency of chilli heat in the dish i always order. It is advertised as mild to medium dish, however it was as hot as a vindaloo this time meaning i couldnt eat it. This has happened on two separate occasions now. Not great!!

After getting many a delivery decided to stop in for a late lunch.Reasonable selection on the menu. Service was a little on the slow side but portion sizes were reasonable. All in all nothing to get excited about

We eat here quite a lot and usually no problems but today wasn't great delivery was over 1 hour and 15 mins. So by the time it got here it was almost cold which was disappointing .

The curry was absolutely delicious-one of the best I've had-and I've been to India! Gorgeous coconut taste.

Food was piping hot and really tasty as always just a pity it was half an hour late!

This Indian takeaway is to die for.My new partner said there is now way that it would be better that her local ...oh she was so wrong. ..never heard her admit defeat before..The meal was amazing. .staff so friendly..value for money..Can't wait to her turn to buy next week ..
