The best restaurants in Musselburgh East and Carberry East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

The place appears to be closed. I was in the area today and had hoped to pop in for a quick pint and a bite to eat, but found signs up saying that it was closed due to 'Electrical Issues' whatever that might mean. It was showing on Google as open.

The staff were fantastic and very friendly at this hotel, no complaints there. The rooms themselves definitely need some money spent to bring them back up to a decent standard. Black mould in the bathroom and a lot of paint missing on the ceiling made them look really tatty. The food at Brewers Fayre next door (where you get your breakfast) was a really high standard. You sometimes find the all you can eat breakfast buffets can be a bit hit and miss but this one was great and really fresh.

Today I went for takeout, for me this is the best Chinese food in the area and we always go especially to Wolyford , but today I was very disappointed with the service, the woman was terribly rude and I was ready to leave right away, I wanted to cry, this is unacceptable attitude, if she serves me next time I will definitely not get food from there, the owner should think about his staff, it would be a shame to lose customers because of the rudeness of the staff, the food is really great, but I would not return with such service

We visited Lucas on Sun 25 Aug and 30 Aug frequently attend here on both occasions I had to return my main course as they were both barely warm 1 was pizza the other mushroom pasta the waitress was apologetic and said this would get heated up in the microwave. Another couple who were sitting at the next table had to wait an eternity for their meals we had our main course & our dessert before the couples meal arrived as they had already asked waitress where it was and was told kitchen was busy the couple had been more than patient. I am unsure if the chef has been changed the food seems to be not to the usual standard. Not once has the waitresses when having your meal if everything is ok! This should come as standard.. very disappointed. Therefore after another disappointing visit today it will be sone considerable tine or not at all when we will be back.

We booked a table of 7 at 6.30pm this weekend. We were sat upstairs where there was 2 children's parties ? The noise was just awful, we couldn't hear a thing at our table due to screaming kids (not blaming the kids / it was their party but not acceptable to sit 7 adults next to it) I asked at 7pm when the party would wind down and was told 'hopefully soon" it finally wound down at 7.30pm?? We spent best part of an hour trying to hear each other with not much luck ? The place was like a bomb site /food on floor /burst balloons/cake mashed into the floor! It was chaos. I wouldn't have been surprised if Mini Mouse had arrived with face paints for the Kids ?? !!! The service thereafter was worse. The food was well below average. Waited 20 mins for water on the table despite asking 3 times, no cutlery replaced after the starter therefore main meal served with nothing to eat it with and was nearly cold by the time we did get cutlery. Calamari was served as chunks of deep fried squid in breadcrumbs? Just awful and clearly not fresh and from the frozen bag ?? My sister-in-Law is gluten intolerant therefore ordered from Gluten Free menu. Overnight she became unwell due to eating something with Gluten in it from the Gluten Free menu ?? 24 hours later she is still unwell. ? Still a bit shocked how bad the experience and food was.

I think her name was shakira! She was so polite and seemed like she was holding the fort for being really busy she was the fasted person in there and really knew what she was doing. Well done!

I am so disappointed in our visit as we were really looking forward to a nice lunch and a catch up. We arrived to be presented with the Grotto Christmas menu, not what we were expecting, and at no time was I informed this is what the menu would be!! I asked if this was all that was available, and was told yes. We were hoping for a sandwich and on a website menu noticed Croque Monsieur, Eggs Royale or Eggs Woodland was offered, which we were looking forward to. Instead we ended up with Chicken terrine which arrived with limp rocket and a very small piece of toasted bread. We were asked if we wanted sauces, with hindsight a drop of something might have helped. This was quite tasteless, and in no way looked appetising. Fortunately we ordered curly fries which kept us going. My booking form has a spot for menu, which when you look at only takes you to customer reviews. If I had been aware this menu was what we would have been offered, I would not have booked. We have visited twice before, once for lunch, which we have a favorable memory of, and last year for afternoon tea at Christmas so we had a reasonable idea of what to expect. Needless to say we did not stay for coffee or dessert. And at 4p short of £20.00 it was an expensive disaster.

WOW. Popped in today and was greeted by a polite young, gentleman who knows how to treat customers, Lentil Soup and a cheese baguette which were delicious, and freshly cooked Definitely Restaurants Quality Food and a reasonable priced. Well done 100% Highly recommend Thank 🙇 👍👍

This place is dirty. Tables nit cleaned. I cleaned it myself. Floor dirty and dropped food all over it. It 3asnt even busy

I’m a regular customer for many years but tonight after over 2 hours waiting on my delivery, which clearly was forgotten had to compromise and make something to eat. Ordered 6:32 turned up 8:44.

Excellent service and piping hot food.

Dinner: I wasn't overly impressed with the meals, they were all a bit bland, not particularly hot and one of the dishes had several items missing, which to be fair, once highlighted were provided very promptly. One of the items ordered was a pizza and in all honesty, it resembled one of those cheap, value pizzas from a supermarket, you know the ones, normally 99p or something. This was disappointing. That aside, service was friendly and prompt. Breakfast: This is where the place excelled and clawed back a star, the food was top drawer and the buffet was constantly being replenished, unlike what has become too commonplace in many other similar establishments. There were plenty of fruit, juices, cereals etc and of course the usual variety of cooked essentials. In summary, the evening meal would have been a 2* with the breakfast being a 4* so a 3/5 seems about right to me.

Lovely breakfast. Friendly and polite staff. Good value for money Variety on lunch menu which is also good value. Food served fast and piping hot
