You can tell it's up for sale staff may no longer have the heart for it when you're future is not guaranteed. 3 why the breakfast is still a winner for me choice of cereals fruit pastry brilliant. If you like cooked breakfast I never see anyone complaining so they have something right. Easy access to Edinburgh and beyond shame about the restaurant.

Steaks we're delicious but the Stella beer was a bit off. Nevertheless, it was quickly rectified.

Customer service was good but the beef lasagna was really disappointing. Bland and a mushy cheese sauce put on top.. flies continuously flying around your food and surrounding. This place used to be fantastic full on flavor and very hygienic. let down to say the least

Book of doom comes out for allergies, but it worked out in the end, once I realised they have all the meals for gf at the back. Been a while since I've been and definitely improved. Cheap and cheerful - Brewers fayre so you get what you expect. Will be back.

Went for a family meal for a family member's birthday, service was great well done to all the FOH team that was on shift, plates were all presented lovely. Well done to kitchen team aswell, great experience! Room was decorated with birthday banners aswell.

The food was bang on, it’ was great and the service was great the only thing that let our visit down was are food order had went missing the young chap Dillon I spoke to had said the tills have crashed, and there will be someone over to take your order in a few mins, lovely lady called Alison took are order and are food was out within 20mins I get these things happen but could maybe have a back up plan for tills crashing expect from thsi the visit was great we got offered some free deserts aswell they were excellent, I will definitely be back, only thing is you could have a few more staff on when it was as busy as it was, it’s great wee place can’t wait to come for Christmas with family.

The chef David absolutely amazing and the steak was spot on was such a lovely meal what a brilliant chef he is and gill the waitress such a lovely lady so friendly and welcoming had a lovely time definitely be back 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I have been going to Craig House for lunch for years. It is my favourite midweek treat. The meals are always good and the value for money exceptional.

Visited with granddaughter on a Sunday, kids carvery is great value, good service, very quiet when we were there. Nice place, would recommend a visit, plenty of choices on menu.

Discrepancies on menu and what you can order. Husband wanted a carling shandy (on the menu) when he ordered it he was told we don't sell that here. He showed the guy behind the bar where it was on the menu and was told we don't sell that here. Why have it on the menu if you don't sell it? I ordered a Cadbury sundae that had Cadbury nibbles in it. What I got was a sundae that had crunchier pieces in it. I didn't complain as I guessed I'd be told that the one I ordered wasn't sold there. I was also disappointed with the carvery. There was hardly any veg, but what there was I found to be cold when I got to the table to eat it. Sadly after this experience I won't be visiting a Brewers Fayre again.

Went for Breakfast Monday 26/08/24 @ 09:15 very rude lady asked for our room number. We replied we don’t have a room just came for breakfast. With a rude reply we aren’t doing walkings for breakfast as we don’t have the staff. You should maybe take your noticed down saying walkings welcome. Certainly will not step back in this restaurant again poor show.

No complaints about quantity of food or value for money but Sunday Carvery meal was, at best, lukewarm which spoiled our enjoyment of the food.

We were here on Thursday 8th. There was a staff change over but lady who served us explained this completely to us. We had great service and food was lovely, big portions special shout to Bethany who really looked after us and surprised us with a box of chocolates as we had told her we were there in memory of our mumsw yr anniversay. We used to take mum there all the time lovely lovely thought xxx

The 2 meals for a price deal is good value for Money. I had the smothered chicken which was tasty enough. As with most of this kinds of places there is a big lack of atmosphere. Juice machine wasn't working fully, staff said it was getting fixed there and then but after this "fix" is still didn't pour Dr Pepper

The food is always nice and really good value for money. Especially for a family with a decent kids menu. Food is ordered at the bar but the service can be slow sometimes. The staff are always friendly but just not sure they have enough at times. I've had to remind them, on more than one visit that we have finished our main meal and are ready for our desserts. However, I think just a lack of staff available to bring the food, clear the tables, serve drinks at the bar, etc. They do a 2 for 1 deal on a selection of adult main meals Mon to Friday between 12- 6. Also you can add a dessert for a great price. The desserts are lovely.

Was in for a family meal, for my daughter’s birthday. The food was lovely, everything in the mixed grill cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and made my 9 year old daughter feel like a princess on her birthday. Bravo guys if I could give more stars I would.

There for my grandaughters birthday kids meals were great and steaks and mixed grills were exceptionally well

The service is very poor, 2 evenings in a row we had to claim for the kids dessert and waited for hours. Food is basic. Just do not go there.

Stayed in Premier Inn which was nice and staff unbelievable friendly, for 4 days only problem was restaurant next door. Paid 4 nights and food but unbelievable shocked you can call this a restaurant, food cold & everything is so poor ie hygiene and cleansing.last night they said they not cooking lol thank god. Premier Inn should be embarrassed putting people to eat in this place

Absolutely horrendous food cold overcooked toilets stinking couldn't use them they were blocked the roof in the bar had water coming in working night shift went to the bar asked for coke and told no the bar doesn't open till 12 this was at 10to I have seen pig swill look more inviting than the food

Went to Craig House for food with my wife and kids and family dog as on website Craig House was dog friendly but once we got there we were told they only let guide dogs into restaurant which is not stated on website extremely frustrating when we mentioned this and response was a shrug of the shoulders 😤

Totally ignored by staff today. Husband waited 5 mins to be served and 2 staff completely ignored him. Always use Craig house and disgusted with the place today. Worst part was it was so quiet and toilets were absolutely disgusting. Don't think I'll ever be back.

Was there for my birthday with family and it was horrible dirty cutlery food was disgusting couldn't fault staff but there was hardly any that I seen the place needs good clean defo would not recommend!!

Very disappointed. Have been many times but this will be our last. Food wasn't nice...got a slice of stale bread with the soup. Had to change our orders as they ran out of so much. The premises were dirty and toilets stinking. Staff were lovely but that's the only nice thing I can say about it

Breakfast! Supposed to be continental breakfast. No fruit left poor choice and mostly sugary cereal. Floor filthy and toilets worse. Depressing experience as Premier inn is of a good standard.

Food was good as always 😋 Lovely & peaceful atmosphere. Lovely service from the guy Lee that was working this afternoon he was friendly & chatty had a laugh aswell always nice when you get good customer service.

Food mediocre, a bit run down. Tables sticky menus on table covered in food floors dirty looked like it hadn't been swepped or hoovered for days.

We needed a table for 6 and landed up at different tables. Kids at one end us at another, food was very dry and bland as if it was recooked, all the while there was a table we could have used.

Absolutely horrendous, just been for Fathers Day, what a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT hardly anything for the breakfasts, every item constantly empty, everyone complaining and queuing, carpets filthy not been hoovered although advised the staff and they proceeded to get a hoover out! AVOID AVOID AVOID, definitely went downhill & not somewhere I’d recommend! Have to say the girl who started in the job today couldn’t have been more helpful but the quality & service is terrible!

Came to this venue with my wife and grandparents. The venue itself is very charming and has plenty of space and parking for cars. However the food portion sizes can be quite small but the prices are quite cheap.

One gent serving at till, bringing meals to table, not enough staff, he tried his hardest, he was in his own, waiting time a bit longer for good, the worst thing I witnessed was the amount of people he turned away at the door because they didn't have a reservation, gone are the days when you just walked in, lots of money lost there, turning away people who would keep your business going Food very basic, no salad on plate anymore, no real presentation, looked like it had been thrown down, Atmosphere very tense, I probably won't be back...

Floor dirty toilets even worse place smells won't be back until it gets cleaned up

Place used to be great but over the past year or 2 has went downhill. Food is very basic and pretty much your standard at a beefeater or similar place can't complain just there's better places nearby for similar value tht serve way better food. Breakfast is the best . Where as dinner and lunch not so great.

Craig House MY HOW IT HAS GONE DOWN HILL OVER the years .the place is filthy , the food was undercooked, chips were old blackened and bruised cooked and served up looked pretty disgusting, refill drinks machine looked like it hadn't been cleaned in several months or much longer. And as for the garlic bread OMG 2 tiny slices of garlic bread for almost £5 shocking. Years ago it use to serve good food and reasonably well priced now it overcharges for undercooked and poor looking food. I don't recomend to anyone. SADLY ITS A MUST AVOID place now

While food was lovely the atmosphere was missing. Also the place is tired looking from outside in. While I appreciate it’s a large area but the carpets are not looking their best. The toilets are also very tied looking to the extent they look dirty from the push door to the flooring.

Ok. Very uninspiring. The lady at the entrance was pleasant enough but nobody seemed very pleased to be there. There was nothing wrong as such, more an atmosphere and feel of lacklustre, disinterest and bland.

Stopped in for a quick lunch having been before and enjoyed the place Sadly can’t say the same after todays visit Messed up my order and at best the salad had just been revived before being put on the plate wasn’t fresh at all Staff was pretty absent took for ever to get a table and the wait from ordering food to getting food was way to long and nothing to do with being busy as they wasn’t

After waiting 10minutes to be served we were told no tables available. Next morning for breakfast then place was a mess and not cleaned from the day before.

From the moment walking in, the building was a disgrace, appeared to have never been hoovered, stains all over the carpet, toilets were disgraceful and the building in some areas could do with some attention to bring it a new lease of life. After being brought out children's desserts (40 minutes after ordering our meals) and having to remind the staff we are yet to have any of our mains, I spoke with the rude, stout bearded man who told me their manager is AWOL and there are only 2 of them in the building. His attitude was disgraceful, no apology, no attempt to resolve the issue or show of any empathy, and when I mentioned the communication being disgraceful, I was told "I didn't have to relay that information" when I stated that we were missing a chair at our table, which was met with no response as he walked away from me after being approached at the bar. I wouldn't visit this "restaurant" if it was free. We have recently moved to the area and will be avoiding this establishment indefinitely. Utterly disgraceful customer service, I have absolutely nothing positive to say about my experience. We ended up with a full refund and left rather hungry. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Not the cleanest of places. One member of staff serving bar and taking food orders and table service poor girl run of her feet. Food not great veg was cold chips were not cooked in the cleanest of oils. Husbands burger came looked like it was for a child as so small. Will not be back.

My wife found this place and booked it for a meal whilst we were visiting the area. It was a dreadful place. We specifically booked it for its Gluten Free options. On arrival on a Sunday evening there were less than 10 cars in the car park. Considering there is a Premier Inn on site too, my alarm bells instantly began to ring but I stuck with it. You have to order food at the bar. We chose the advertised Gluten Free nachos as a starter. Having paid for them, 5 mins later we are informed the nachos were not Gluten Free so i had to get a refund on those. My wife then chose the Gluten Free steak with chips and wanted peppercorn sauce. When I asked if peppercorn sauce was Gluten Free the staff didn't know. They went into the kitchen and not even the chef knew so i chose not to have it. When the steak arrived at our table the Gluten free steak had battered onion rings all over it. We asked if the onion rings were Gluten Free. They didn't know so took the steak away and returned within 1 minute with the same meal, just having removed the onion rings! A contaminated meal, great. What sort of chef do you employ? I also wanted a pint of bitter, the bar staff didn't know what bitter was and just told me to select one of the lagers. I played it safe and had a guiness. The whole experience was awaful. The interior is desperate for a make over and the carpets have seen better days. The food itself was ok for the price, just totally let down by staff knowledge of products and service.

Beautiful building, friendly staff and good food!

Short version, Ordered food and drinks, 40 minutes later the food had not arrived. Asked the waitress where it was, another member of staff came and asked what we had ordered. 20 more minutes passed so I asked at the bar only to be told they had a system problem on the tills. At no point was any attempt made to advise customers of the problems, in fact they looked surprised and affronted that people were having the temerity to complain. I insisted on a refund and left. Would I visit again NOT IN MY LIFETIME!

One of the worst we have ever been to. Got sick of waiting to be seated, then got told off for sitting down ourselves. Ordered food and only 2 starters arrived out of 6. The other 4 arrived with our mains. No cutlery brought to the table. Then they call last orders at 9pm. This is not just a one off either. We have been here on and off for months and the service is ridiculous. We will be looking for somewhere else. Spent £180 tonight. And not impressed at all.

The poor staff where running about trying to do everything as there simply wasn't enough of them, the lovely guy that checked us in was also doing the serving but we didn't mind waiting they where bizy. The thing that really let the place down was it was so cold the heating was not working so everyone sat eating their meal with their coats on, sadly I never brought a coat as you would think a restaurant would be warm so I sat in a dress freezing and started to cough last night not what was planned and very disappointed.

Can't say anything about the food as we never had any, place was freezing so sat down at table then left. All other guests where eating with there jackets on. Heating needs switched I think

Had a fantastic carvery, meat was so tender and tasty, chef was lovely and friendly and really helpful. We also had a few pints before eating and the bar staff were really nice and helpful aswel. All in all, a very good visit and really pleased to be eating here tomorrow 😀 😊 😁 Thanks to all the staff for making us feel welcome.

Normally a happy customer but....Food ordered then discovered unavailable, my son's burger came with cheese asked for none had to be sent back, we finished our food before his arrived. Portions where small, staff miserable and not polite. The path back to the hotel lacked any lighting. I could rant on. A poor experience for me and the family.

Lack of sauce on burger, but was brought some after bringing to attention, so everything satisfactory. Nothing to complain about But as with many of these places, just not worth 5 stars anymore

I go there for my lunch when i am in the passing the staff are brilliant at there jobs and the kitchen staff are very good as well + the food is so good as well i go back there again in March for my dinner and take photos outside the building and inside as well guys.

Arrived at 5.00 then 5 mins later got told there would be no orders taken for 15 mins! A bit annoying to say the least. Anyway food arrived quickly and was really good, the place is a bit dilapidated but we left happy enough.

Where do I start. This used to be a very nice family eaterie. Now it has really gone downhill. Ordered and payed. Girl nice. Went to get tea. Machine out of order. Take water from thermos. No thermos. No teaspoons. Girl brought one but water was lukewarm. Dinner came. Food well cooked but only warm. They did heat it and it was good quality.but???? Should have been hot. Went to toilet. OMG!! The carpet was filthy . Floor littered with paper and toilet wouldn’t flush and really needed a good clean. It’s such a shame to see this being so run down. Also it used to be so very busy , not now. No wonder. Sorry but definitely won’t be back. Ps the staff we lovely and helpful.

Got the 2 courses for 8.99 and there was 6 of us. I got the lasagne which I really like and the others got gammon and one the club sandwich. All very good and friendly staff

We had a company lunch there recently. Despite we provided our orders a month in advance, both my main dish and dessert were not available. Surprisingly, there were shortages even in tea. Only camomile and English breakfast was available at that day. Unfortunately, it was also boiling in our room with no option to open the windows or turn on air conditioner. We were using menu as a hand fan. Old fashioned interior.

Food normally good and reasonably priced, had the turkey Christmas carvery, carver told me your allowed 3 slices and he cut the smallest slices he could, very disappointed 😞

Was there,for a late lunch,with music playing,at a nice background level,to be able,to have a conversation. I,had the Rudolph burger/chips & ice-cream igloo desert😋,from the children's menu. Both,were very tasty. Others had chicken bites, ice-cream/ strawberries & Steak pie & gravy. Can help yourself,to tea, coffee & juice.

Had lunch with friends at Craig house. We were given a very warm welcome from the host Natalia on arrival and the customer service remained excellent throughout our visit. The food was excellent and very good value for money. Definitely recommend!

Go to iceland instead, will be better and cheaper, been there tonight...never had worse experience in a Pub/restaurant...service 0! What i believe was the supervisor or shift leader and she greeted us with sad and kind of annoyed face pointing out the worst table even if place was quiet and half empty, we never saw a smile or anything similar...i ordered at the counter and the guy that didn't know what he was doing, sure I've been overcharged and order was bit wrong as i asked for a upgrade of size and never got it, but i do believe that i paid for it, but not receipt given...he made a cocktail...no words to explain how, my girlfriend drank it don't even know how...no smile and such a sad face that was suggesting to leave, even though, decided to stay and give it a try. Food 2! Sad presentation and poor portions, ordered a smothered plate...half was wrong and overcooked...still arrived to the table and again the lassie not even said what the was in the plate...2 of them looking the same apart the sauce...no checkback, no customer service...very sad experience, especially with having a venue that it can be quite nice...definitely first and last visit!

Was a bit quiet but was mid Sunday afternoon so........ staff were excellent throughout, food was great, everyone full up and happy when we left..... we'll definitely be returning ☺️

Nice bar/restaurant with great service

We have been here before but never experienced this level of bad service. Staff did their best but food delivery was really bad. Half our table had finished their food before the other half got theirs. Then we had to ask a member of staff for the rest of our puddings. As I said, staff did their best, but service was really bad. I will return but only when I hear that it's improved.

Decided at last minute to get something to eat ... didn't see the reviews sunday carvery was as dry as gandhi's flip flops !! Yes it was only £11 each the meet was okay " ish" the guy serving the meet wasn't there at first so I loaded up the plate with veg (dry veg at that) then he came out bleeting about cutting meet and health and safety .... Asked him what he was going on about and he proceeded to complain that he can't cut meat on my plate ... its no problem pal cut it on that plate as I pulled another plate over . Worst restaurant I have ever been too DO NOT GO HERE !!!!

It’s an ok place to eat handy if you are staying at the premier inn, standard brewers fayre food so don’t expect anything flash. The drinks though they were terrible they had such a nasty tangy taste to them this included soft drinks and beers, maybe the glasses I don’t know but it wasn’t nice.

If you want value for money, usually some deal or voucher makes a trip the brewers fayre worthwhile. The food is ok, the service is terrible and often rude. In the past I've needed to wipe my own table.

Omg devastated. Not been for years after last management change. Won't be back. Drinks cabinates were literally empty. Bar floor was sticky, table was sticky. Toilets were disgusting! Food was ok. Sorry for this review but it was awful

Currently stood at the bar waiting to order food. Come in at 1900, the time is now 1953 & I'm yet to be served! A fairly significant line has formed at the bar, but the staff seem more intent on fannying on making cocktails (which they don't seem capable of doing) than serving customers. 4 staff on the floor & it's took this long to still not get served! Just as a reference point, I'm watchingthe football on my phone, the game hadn't kicked off when I got to the bar, its now half time! Utterly shambolic

Usually a good place to go for a reasonable priced meal. Although on this occasion it fell short, went back again because I had a free birthday meal. I had a very nice smothered combo

Ordering a cheeseburger and a chicken burger, the chicken burger was terrible. Service at the bar was abysmal. Asked for 2 cokes, was slammed on the bar with 2 bottles of coke. When I asked for glasses to go with them, you'd have thought I'd asked her for the till. Area outside was disgusting withe litter and fag butts( had a dog with us and wasn't allowed in the bar area).

After 50 min of waiting for main received raw chicken breast and wrong meal...very nice and helpful waiters really do their best...

The meals seem to be cut down in size. Service wasn't bad but it's the staff seem to be getting younger. My pudding was very small compared to what I had last time I was there. Also there seems to be a lot of change in management. Why is there such a lot of change over , in Craighouse.

Very much an 'is what it is' sort of place.... Nothing special, menu is very limited and food itself is OK (but not fantastic) - the upside bring the prices are sensible.

I took two friends for dinner. There was 4 of us. Two ordered chicken dinners, one fish pie,one tikka curry. Chicken dinners roast potatoes well over cooked and dry, chicken like rubber, carrots dry overcooked, no cabbage given. Tikka curry full of water disgusting Fish pie not bad but salad was very old and withered Service was ridiculous ordered no alcohol lagers was given full alchohol. Asked for mayonaise and vinegar never arrived after asking twice. The place was empty so it wasn't as if it was busy. I can't beleive i paid £59.45 for a meal that we were disgusted with.
