Wonderful cosy atmosphere - away from the hustle bustle on Princes street.
Excellent food - and we were even given a sampler of the eggplant faux feta stew to try - smoky and delicious.
I felt a genuine care and love of what they are doing. That pervades the food.
Definitely worth a visit
Was a regular when I lived here 3 years ago and have now been back and it is the same as ever. Amazing service from such a lovely owner, the most delicious authentic african wraps whose quality has not changed, and great value/price. Cute atmosphere to sit in for a casual meal out, highly recommend!
The team was very welcoming, the food was delicious and the great choices for wine covered all tastes. We had the Ploughman’s with the Chorizo, and would highly recommend!
We had a fantastic dinner at Makar’s. I had the beef shoulder with butter mash. My son had the wild boar sausages and cheddar mash. Both were absolutely delicious. Our servers, Ash & Caitlin were great! We totally recommend having dinner here. Make reservations!! We did, and were very lucky. They were packed.

Vegan cuisine in Asian style. In general food was good, served quickly. However prices sre quite high; main dishes comes without rice. Small choice of drinks.
Just, simply, very good. Amazing location, amazing premises, amazing produces, amazing staff, management and ownership. High level but everybody's welcome place. The shop, outstanding: real produces, real stuff, high quality.
Probably the best for brunch in edinburgh, definitely a must in general.
Thanks!!! Great job everyone20. 😊
Loved this little gem of a restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. Dimitri and his staff were very friendly and accommodating. They have an excellent selection of cocktails, wines, beer and cordials. We started with a selection of dips and homemade hot pita .2 of our group of 4 are fussy vegetarian eaters and even they were impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. My friend and I who are meat eaters were equally happy with the Moussaka and Mossaraki Kokkinisto (beef stew slow cooked with mashed potatoes) and split a side of pork and chicken skewers. We finished with a couple of shots of Metaxa (greek brandy) and left very happy.
