Lovely small quiet place with great ambience, delicious food and friendly service. If you want something different this is the place to go. I love Ethiopian food and it just happened to be the special that night!

Cane here with a friend and we both got amazing falafel wraps. The gentleman running the place was polite, kind, and fun. We also ordered a spiced coffee which was so warming and tasty. Will definitely be visiting again!

i had the most amazing dinner here! the staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome and cared for, the food was to die for and the ambience of the place was so chill, perfect for a dinner date!!! at one point i said “i love this song” and the waiter turned it up a little bit for me! i fell in love with their wraps, and their prices are so good especially regarding the portions and quality of the food!! will be coming here very soon!

Wonderful gem in Edinburgh. Small but cozy restaurant with comforting and extremely tasty food and affordable prizes. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming. The kitchen is open until 4pm, so perfect for those going for a late lunch. Will be coming back frequently.

Mega vriendelijk personeel. Nog nooit Oost-Afrikaans gegeten maar ik durf te zeggen, zeer de moeite waard. Puur en smaakvol eten. Goede sfeer en vooral ook hartelijk en met een lach. Als je wat anders wil ga hiervoor!!!

The food is inexpensive and very tasty.

Simple menu, not a huge amount to decide between. Delicious food, very flavoursome. Staff are attentive and very welcoming. I felt very relaxed here, I sat for an hour or so after my meal, read a book and enjoyed some African coffee. The establishment has a great vibe and evidently I felt very welcome!

Was in Edinburgh and I had time to kill, and after being on the go all day, was in need of something to eat. Looking at what was close, Khartoum Cafe took my fancy. Not a greasy kebab shop, but a rather nice little sit down cafe (that also does food to go) and for 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, it was really busy. Great choice of Vegan food, but their wraps are a must! Ordered the Falafal and Hummus wrap to go, and was freshly prepared in no time. Staff are VERY inviting, and if in the area again, I would come here for a sit down meal.

Feels like home. We have paid 30£ for two people. Unbelievable man can have a simple but fulfilling dinner in Edinburgh for that price.

We eat here quite often. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. Love the jerk chicken wrap with hibiscus tea. They do a great spicy coffee served in a gourd. It is a really unique experience and you are immediately made to feel at home. Definitely worth a trip to Tolcross.

Dropped in here whilst meandering to a show. I wasn’t acting on recommendation nor my usual Google review rabbit hole, but absolutely over the moon that we found this place. Simple, authentic food, fuul (sorry) of fava, I mean flavour. Vegetarian options were great, and gluten free requirements comfortably met, in part by an amazing teff flour flat bread. Final word, the two chaps who served were great. They had infectious smiles and went above and beyond. Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.

The fuul is to die for, as well as their really affordable wraps. I would also recommend trying their East African coffee! Lovely staff, good prices, and amazing food!

We travel all the time from Stirling to eat to this amazing & unique restaurant! The owner has an amazing personality that involves you and makes you laugh all the time! The food in unbelievable yummy!!! One of the best restaurants in Edinburgh! Obviously we tried all the menu 😂 My favorite: Moussaga or lamb & chicken wrap

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Edinburgh—and wow, what a phenomenal meal! We got coffee, wraps with fries and chili sauce, baklava and basbousa. The wraps and fries were a perfect size, beautifully spiced, and a good balance of chicken and vegetable. The coffee had cardamon in it which paired with all the heat from the spices in the wrap in the most pleasant way. Finally, the basbousa and baklava were beautifully plated, and everything we had hoped for. The baklava was a notably generous portion—I’d say sharable, but then 1 bite in it was clearly too easy to eat every single bite myself. It was a cold, grey day but this meal was a tonic, warming to the very core. Thank you!

Absolutely lovely food and wonderful service!!

Excellent service, very polite and really friendly. I was hoping the food would match, but sadly I do have some complaints. The portion sizes are too small for my liking, the rice was a bit cold and not perfectly cooked, and the falafel wasn’t fresh. I’d give the food 3/5, and 5/5 for the service.

The food I had here was fantastic! I highly recommend trying one of the entree dishes that has tahini in it; the lamb plate I got with the sesame oil option was addictively good, basically a curry with a delicious sesame base flavor. Also the two owners running the restaurant were lovely and visited with me after my meal. Highly recommend Khartoum Cafe for its wholesome vibes and its amazing food.

What a wonderful restaurant! Sure, it's restaurant prices rather than cafe prices but it's well worth it. The fuul is super tasty and the salata aswad is perfect. Omar and the staff are great. Very small, great feel - you'll love it.

Had a lovely meal here, with great service. I highly recommend the Baba ghanoush. Main courses were a bit on the oily side but still tasted good. You can bring your own alcohol on Friday and Saturday evenings.

I came here regularly during the few months I was in the city. Incredible food, cozy ambiance, and super friendly owner— absolutely no complaints at all. If you’re in the area for any reason, you have to visit and try the fantastic falafel+fuul+hummus wraps with harissa sauce. The soups are amazing too, give this cafe a try! Finding this place was the best decision I made during my time in Edinburgh :)

Outstanding. Deserving of every 5 start rating, an absolutely delicious place for a wrap, soup or salad. This saved my culinary day. The owner is a lovely resident of Edinburgh, Omar. The wrap was simple, humble and delicious. I really enjoyed the fusion of flavour with Sudanese and Mediterranean Flavor. The chili harrissa with preserved lemon was just outstanding. Wraps and Salads are always available as is the delicious Vegan Banana, Oak and Sultana cake. They have a more extensive menu that is available weekends. If you would like to try on a weekday, give the restaurant a call to see what they have available. Truly a gem in Bruntsfield. A long time favourite wrap place, really tasty and authentic. Super friendly owner too and nice thematic and decorations.

The wife, child (7) and I ate here before a trip to the Kings. We all had different wraps, 2 lamb and a chicken, followed by 3 different desserts between us. All were amazing at a great price. I had a coffee and it was very good. The guy (I assume the owner) was such a nice man, made sure there enough chilli to not too much for a various tastes, very friendly. My daughter wants to visit here, before anywhere when we are next in Edinburgh, love it.

First time Visiting this small cosy Sudanese (Khartoum Cafe), we got the Falafel wrap and mixed minced lamb with vegetables and feta cheese. The food was amazing! Great quality and very very tasty. Also, the gentleman who runs this place is nice and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Really nice food, I had a wrap and Sudanese tea. Some places serve just good food and drink and some do that and serve your soul, this place is the second.

I love coming here to eat it once for my favourite places for a 12pm lunch! The falafel is probably the best i have tried in edinburgh hands down. Will be consistently coming here again!!

Any trip to Edinburgh is a waste if you don't stop here in my opinion. It's such a great little restaurant to pop in for some lunch. Personal favourite of mine is the jerk chicken wrap and if you like spicy food ask for some of the hot sauce to go with. The hot sauce seems to rotate as the first one I had was very spicy peanut sauce and the last was hibiscus chilli sauce but they're always great. The portion of baklava is very generous and great with a cup of tea or coffee. The gentleman who runs this place is very nice and welcoming Can't wait for my next visit
