Vegan cuisine in Asian style. In general food was good, served quickly. However prices sre quite high; main dishes comes without rice. Small choice of drinks.

Excellent food, dinner came quickly and was excellent. Four very happy customers.

Super quick and fresh food with great quality. Could be a little loud when crowded, but that‘s still fine. The fried tofu was our favorite, the prices overall are fair. Also recommended for non-vegan eaters!

I could've eaten here every day for my entire stay in Edinburgh! The food was delicious and was ready really quickly, and the staff were really friendly and attentive.

Genuinely the best vegan food I have ever had!! Been multiple times and the staff are so efficient (we got our starters in under 5 minutes) and lovely, and the food utterly delicious. We would recommend the gyoza, lotus root, wonton and aromatic pancakes!

The Laksa noodles and the Gan Lau Mee noodles are probably the best menu items and definitely worth a visit.

Taste-wise not fully up my alley, but the food was fresh and the portions are big. I appreciate that everything is fully vegan. Very attentive staff.

It was my third visit here and for the third time I left the restaurant happy. The food is amazing! All looks beautiful and tastes wonderful. The staff is very nice, efficient and considerate. The place is really small, so I was amazed how quiet and smooth the service was. I will be definitely back to try more of their dishes.

Soul vegan is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food is incredibly tasty and there is so much choice! The staff are lovely and very attentive.

One of the only places we visited multiple times on our trip. The food was excellent, with each dish we tried. The staff were kind and remembered us when we returned. We will definitely be back when we're back in the city!

Delicious food and great atmosphere

The food my partner and I shared here was probably some of the best food we've eaten out. The Laksa was incredible and I am genuinely still talking about it weeks later. The staff were very friendly helpfully recommending menu items, and the venue was lovely and cosy.

i’ve been vegan for a good few years and i’m not exaggerating at all when i say this is the best vegan restaurant i’ve ever been to. the char siu is so so unbelievably delicious, the staff are so welcoming and attentive. please open a restaurant in newcastle so i don’t have to travel 2 hours to have the best food ever !!!!!!!! get the barbecue combo rice and BOOK ahead of time, they are busy and deservedly so!!! expect to be disappointed if you walk in cause they will be fully booked and you’ll miss out on the best meal you’ve ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perfect vegan food. The laksa noodles were so delicious, with many different elements. Banana fritters were one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Service was great, all staff were lovely, welcoming and attentive, bringing us water whenever we needed. The atmosphere was amazing! Will definitely be returning :)

Booked for an early dinner and walked 30 mins from our hotel to get there. When we arrived they said there had been an error and no recollection of our booking under my name. I showed the email of evidence of our booking and was told it wasn't on their system. We weren't given an explanation of how long we had to wait or whether a table would even be available, the person just went back inside to the restaurant. We ended up going to a different vegan restaurant nearby.

Since moving to Edinburgh, this is our new guilty pleasure! Fantastic restaurant and the food is delicious ❤️

Sooo this is my first time at soul vegan and it didn’t disappoint! The Two BBQ meal was INCREDIBLE. The LASKA noodle dish was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten WOW

The venue is really small and cosy, the staff look after you really well, top you up on water etc you don’t even have to ask! The menu is exquisite and has plenty of options for gluten free vegans! A hidden gem slightly off the beaten track, 1000000% worth visiting!

What a find. I was going to eat at Wagamamas for my one night in Edinburgh - a good vegan standby - but so glad I sought out Soul Vegan! 🤗🙏 The food is fabulous, with all the diners waxing lyrical. Wonderful service and such a friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely come back when I'm next in Edinburgh. Highly recommend.

BELIEVE the 5 star reviews! I came here to try the popular Laksa noodles and my god the number of "mmmmms" I had to stifle while eating it was ridiculous (because I came alone and it would be weird to do that public 😅)! The staff were so attentive and the food came within 5 minutes of ordering. Honestly some of the best food I've ever had and definitely the best tofu. I would eat here everyday if I could. Make sure you book well in advance if you want to dine in the evening. Luckily they had space for lunch but all dinner reservations were maxed out when I checked.

Amazing food with great service. There were 7 of us. The booking was a made a wee while ago, but ended shoved in front of the door, so constantly getting blasted with cold air every time people came in or left. It was pretty uncomfortable.

A true paradise of flavor. I recommend it to anyone, even non-vegans, for the exceptional variety of flavors and richness of taste that the dishes served have. I have never eaten better vegan food, in the future I will return to Edinburgh to eat here again. Impeccable service, courteous, polite and attentive to customers, small but very comfortable place, essential to book because otherwise you won't find a place. Rated 10 out of 10, I couldn't find any flaws. Unfortunately I only took photos of the dessert, when the first courses arrived I was too surprised by the aromas and flavors to remember to take photos.

The place was very full and popular and you can completely see why! The menu was full of delicious vegan options and the food was completely delicious, full of flavour and great portions! The service was very speedy and considerate.

I come from Singapore and I dare say I’ve had one of the best laksas here. To top it off, it’s vegan and so my friends could try them. The staff are also very attentive, quickly refilling your water when it’s running low.

Soul Vegan is the best vegan place I have eaten at in my life at the moment, so many choices of Malaysian cuisine that I discovered that night that I cannot imagine it not plant-based. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of my friends' dishes, but they were all beautiful and tasty.

Unfortunately it was the first vegan restaurant where we weren't allowed to eat because we had two lovely dogs with us. The food is still definitely delicious...

Had a great first time meal, laksa lovely, juicy, filing, perhaps too attentive waiters, then came back today, was let go off for the rest of the evening since there wasnt gonna be space for me without reservation until a waiter from the other day saw me and told me i could still have dinner since there was still space. So, kinda weird. But okay all in all, tho i paid this seccond time 25£ for two dishes and left really hungry. Pricey are the pounds and perhaps ppl here eat too fknc early anyway, what do u mean fully book at 19? i eat at 22

We had a fantastic lunch at Soul Vegan, the service was incredible and the food was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the mixed starter and the two barbecue combination rice bowl. A visit here is highly recommended!

My wife and I visited yesterday during valentine’s weekend. The food was amazing, very fast and tasty. We ordered 5 sides and shared and loved all of them. The place is super small to don’t turn up with bags or big jackets… they don’t have a cloak room either. That being said, it more than makes up for it with the atmosphere and cosy setting! Thoroughly enjoyed 🙌🏽 PS: Don’t be distracted by my wife’s boobies 👀

Absolutely delightful vegan experience, a true culinary journey - the bbq duck was out of this world, and I am saying that as a non-vegan. On top of that, great service and a cozy mood. A must-visit place if you're ever here and you're after spectacular food - this is where you should go, regardless of your dietary habits and choices!

Lovely little place with a quiet intimate atmosphere. The service was quick and easy despite being fairly full and the food was great, filling, well worth the short walk up the hill. Definitely going to return on my next visit to Edinburgh

It was a return visit for me, brought my daughter and it lived up to previous experience. Food not only magnificent but so beautifully presented. That flower tea was so lovely.

We love this restaurant and are regulars. We were back this time for Valentine's and it was a busy night for Deliveroo pick ups. This didn't delay our meal at all but it did mean that, because this is a petite place, there was a bit of a lingering cold draft from the door. However the food was great as usual and superb service from the lovely staff.

Being a vegetarian I was very excited to see this place. Having so many vegan options to choose from. Service was really excellent. I loved the cozy vibe. Any vegan or vegetarian looking for nice place to eat in Edinburgh? They have got you covered.

Soul served, without a shadow of a doubt, the most incredible food I have ever eaten. I’ve been vegan for 7 years and even in my whole 32 years I’ve never had anything top it. Would 100% recommend. I had it for lunch today already considering ordering for delivery tonight!

Absolutely delicious and great atmosphere

Service alone would warrant five stars but the food is excellent to match. Come hungry because food is served extremely quickly, we got all three courses in probably less than an hour. If anything starters come a little too quickly after main! The laksa coconut noodle dish is so flavourful although a little spicy. The dumplings and tofu are cooked to perfection. Guinness Sauce on the corn ribs is delicious. Staff are extremely friendly. Would highly recommend

It was one of the best bbq rice I’ve ever had! The service was friendly, even though the place was packed!! A little bit cramped so, watch out if you are a little bit claustrophobic or hate being in crowds :) the place is comfortable, nicely decorated, instagramable and in general, the menu is great!! (And I’m def not veggie). Oh! At the end you draw a prize, for discounts or lottery, super fun!😀 Thanks!!!!

Visited Soul Vegan with a friend on a Friday night. The place was packed and it had a really great atmosphere, but I’m glad I made a reservation! We had the ‘duck’ pancakes to start which were insane, have never had anything like them. I then had the nasi lemak and my friend had the Thai curry. The flavours in my food were amazing, but I would have preferred a bit more tofu as it was quite rice/potato heavy. There is also a gluten free menu for those that need it. Staff were lovely and welcoming, perfect balance of attentive but also giving us space. We were rushed out a bit at the end, would have preferred to have the table for a bit longer (booking was 7pm and we were out the door by 8:10!). But overall wonderful food and staff, highly recommend this place!

Well, obviously the place is very popular and highly praised, so my review isn’t going to matter much. Also, maybe it was just an unlucky draw at the first visit. However, I really couldn’t enjoy the Wonton Noodle Soup I had in Soul Vegan, to me it tasted really bad, not to mention an unpleasant bitter aftertaste from something in the soup. The atmosphere is good, the only problem is common for Asian restaurants in Edinburgh - very densely packed tables. In busy hours you might feel like sharing the table with a bunch of strangers from both sides listening to their conversations. Unfortunately, didn’t feel like good value.
