On arriving we were surprised the fence was broken in the car park all lying on the ground? Attention to detail? At reception we could see outside terrace furniture all piled up and dead plants? Not very welcoming We ordered and the starters tasted lovely but lacked content? A slither of avocado and a few prawns? Not quite a seafood cocktail £13? Main course …. £35? 2 slices of beef? Sadly quite tough and lacking taste? Not special for the price? Overall it felt a “sloppy “ experience lacking care, attention to detail and we left feeling disappointed rather than having had “great time” with fab food? Sorry won’t be back and would no longer recommend to friends

My husband and I stayed in the hotel and had a dinner included in our stay. The menu offered a decent range of choices, all using seasonal, local produce and with a Scottish twist. I chose the venison carpaccio starter and my husband chose the Cullen Skink Bon bons, both were quite delicious - a balance of tastes and textures. Our mains were Chicken Supreme and Pancetta wrapped cod - again these were nicely balanced plates, good sized portions (without being too much) and beautifully presented. We managed desserts in the shape of an affogato and a hot toddy crème brûlée and again were not disappointed. Our server, Grant, also managed the bar, which sticks a decent selection of drinks and wine. We enjoyed this first meal so much that we dined in house on our second night too. My husband particularly loved the steak pie (which was a full crust pie) and I was delighted by my handmade beetroot and goats cheese tortelloni. We believe this menu changes seasonally and we will be back to try it again later this year! I’d thoroughly recommend the Abbotsford restaurant.

Wonderful little bakery in Aberfoyle. We popped in to find some treats to take home after our holiday- ended up buying half the shop lol! Staff were delightful and very friendly and can be watched making the shop's goods. Lovely products from traditional Scottish gifts to biscuits, cakes, jams and chutneys. All very reasonably priced and packaged so beautifully we bought lots of items as gifts. We bought a Mars tray bake, lemon and elderberry and Tea cakes, shortbreads and numerous flavours of cookies. All were absolutely delicious and melt-in-the-mouth. An absolute must-visit if anywhere in the area. Will definitely be ordering more online, thank you!

We buy meat every week which ranges from Lorna sausages to kebabs to mince and kofta burgers . We experience 5 star service and 5 star quality meat. The price is extremely reasonable for what we get too .

I am slowly making my way through Euan's menu. I have not found anything not to like so far. The mussels in garlic and bacon cream served with pasta was my latest try and it was delicious. Food comes out in good time and is well presented and tasty. Good selection of drinks. Competitive prices. Fabulous Coffee - the best I have tasted.

What an absolute Gem of a place! We were staying for a week near by at Glen Finglas and had passed this place several times on our way out. It has quite a reputation for its excellent homemade cakes, coffee, and wholesome homemade food.Opening times(at this time of year) are restricted to Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon and so we only managed to visit once on the Fri before we left. It was very busy but it was a beautiful day and there was plenty of seating outside if required and several parking places also. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly owner who allocated us a table and the wait was explained to us. The wait was certainly worth it when our homemade soup with home baked ciabatta bread arrived with lovely coffee! Both were delicious. The cakes also looked yummy too but we didn't indulge! There were also healthy salads and vegan food available. While we were waiting I also made friends with the owner's delightful black and white gentle, friendly and affectionate border collie. Obviously this place is dog friendly. The cafe was spotlessly clean,( I'm very fussy ) warm welcoming and a little Quirky which we loved. The owner does a terrific job of making this small business work very well. It's a real Gem away from the busier cafe's in Callandar and we look forward to returning and sampling the cakes as well the next time we're staying in the area. we would both highly recommend a visit.

Such a cosy, welcoming haven in the hills! Unexpectedly came for lunch after breaking down on the way up north, what a pleasant surprise! Delicious, fine dining at pub prices, gorgeous terrace to enjoy pints in the sun, and the most genuinely friendly staff. Felt immediately at home, and they even sorted us out with a discounted room last minute. Lovely place, definitely worth a visit!

The Golden Larches is an exceptional business known for its outstanding hospitality and attention to detail. The team consistently goes above and beyond to create amazing experiences for their customers, and their professionalism is second to none. While it’s disappointing that some individuals may disregard their clearly stated policies—such as the bathrooms being reserved for customers—the owners handle these situations with admirable respect and grace. Their dedication to protecting their staff and business is commendable, and it only enhances the already welcoming atmosphere of this remarkable establishment.
