What a little gem! Always using Google maps to find cafe's while we're out exploring. This is one, opposite end of the loch cruise with the SS Sir Walter Scott. This cafe is at the end of a long long road, but what a place to sit and while away and enjoy great home made cakes and made to order hot food. The only sound you'll hear are the birds, Great atmosphere, and an even greater welcome from the ladies working there. Nothing too much trouble. We had one of the specials of the day. A steak and bacon burger with chips and salad. Huge plate! There's a small room on the back with floor to ceiling glass looking out onto the Loch. Also a seating area outside and another inside if you don't fancy looking at the scenery. Doggies are welcome. Always a plus for us. The car park is pay and display with the funds going towards the upkeep of SS Sir William Scott. There are also several places for campers with hook ups. Right on the edge of the loch.

Poor, very poor service Came at 2pm, had to wait 15 minutes before a lady gave me the menu (which I had to ask for) and another 45 minutes before the same lady came back around (while also serving other customers in the meantime) to let me know that the kitchen closed before I had the opportunity to order (and once again, had to stop her from avoiding me). I’m not sure of the reason which led her to give me the menu while not informing of the near end of the service (or that the service already ended). An apology would have been good at the end (instead of an unbothered face), as a 1 hour wait for nothing is a bit frustrating as one can imagine.

As its name suggests, the Pier Café is right beside the pier at Loch Katrine, bringing in a steady stream of hungry customers from the pleasure cruises that land here. But the café isn’t complacent about its captive audience. The food on offer is good quality - ranging from a full Scottish breakfast or lunch to a sandwiches and afternoon tea. There is seating outside picnic tables or on traditional table and chairs in a lakeside conservatory. We visited twice and weren’t disappointed. I had smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast on one trip - while my wife tried the full veggie breakfast, which looked absolutely delicious. There’s a selection of home-baked cakes and snacks and a few souvenirs to buy, including hand-knitted hats. A lovely place to stop, relax, eat and take in the wonderful view.

The food was good and I did enjoy it , the service was OK, the surroundings were Impressive, however the maintenance needs looked at, tired paintwork, roof of conservatory needs a good clean inside and out. But the one thing that would prevent me going back was the drive out, road was shocking. Surface most of the way was terrible( that's being nice) and the vegetation growing on the sides restricted the view ahead on an already twisty single track road, made it a nervy drive. But as I said food was good and the setting is fantastic.

Loved it the 1st time we stopped here (a few weeks ago). This time, not so much. Wouldn't recommend to stop for a coffee & cake. You will definitely be more welcomed if you are ordering food. The other 2 families who came in with a dog, both ordered food. They were offered water and dog treats and made a fuss over. No-one came near us once we were given our cakes. There was no thanks / bye / acknowledgement when we left. Was left feeling quite disappointed tbh. Happy to pay parking / and for a boat ride but wouldn't use the cafe again unfortunately.

On the hunt for cute cafes with amazing drives and views? Look no further, we have a belter here on Loch Katrine just under an hour and a half from Glasgow. With a beautiful drive to the cafe with stunning views, some great walks in the area. Or if you are feeling energetic, park at the opposite side of the loch and hire some bikes and cycle round to the cafe for your lunch and work it off on the way back. Food here is made fresh to order and they have a great selection or sandwiches, jacket potatoes, hot meals and pizzas. Offering a selection of local drinks and coffee from one of our fave roasters @thomsonscoffee We visited on a BH Monday, and the place was busy, we had a wait on food, and the staff were under pressure, but they did amazing to try and keep it together and get everyone served This was our second visit here, and we find the cafe spacious inside with views of the loch with additional tables out the front, and then in the garden, there are picnic benches for the nicer days. The staff are great and the food is tasty Or you can be really clever and plan your trip with a day out on the Sir Walter Scott boat on the loch

What a great place to stop off for lunch. Great welcome, convers and service from Robert who is barman and waiter This is about a far removed from a chain pub with plastic decor and food and fake continental lager as you can get. The home made steak and ale pie was wonderful, served with a generous selection of vegetables and chips - all beautifully cooked and served hot. My wife had the home made mushroom, wholegrain mustard and tarragon soup - possibly the best mushroom soup she's ever tasted - together with a fresh cooked baguette filled with prawns and rose Marie sauce. Three real ales on tap from the Lade Brewery - again superb. There's even a real ale shop on site. Fantastic. Worth the drive from Loch Lomond for the soup alone. Oh, and less expensive than chain pubs as well. Our best food and drink experience this holiday and will definitely visit again in the future.
