Very friendly and accommodating. Good coffee and fabulous cake. Properly dog friendly too. Well worth popping in if you're in Doune. Lunch specials looked great, but we had coffee, tea and cakes, which were very enjoyable.

Food was alright. I had the Scandinavian club sandwich which was a bit disappointing and small. Wife had the soup of day which she says was really nice, not not much bread with it though. My 2 year old son had the kids fish goujons and chips, which was enormous. I feel like they need a reality check in their portion sizes. Drinks were nice. Coffee here is good quality. Service was nice. Young staff, but none the less was very professional and friendly. Atmosphere was ok. Needs a little more lively music to pick up the mood in the place. It's quite a small place so don't visit with a push chair or pram.

Lovely atmosphere of a small little cafe, dark with a warm light. Lovely booths and lovely staff. Was a pleasant warm place to wait out the rain.

Sadly, we were made up feel rather unwell unwelcome here. Couldn't help but get the feeling they just wanted us out of the cafe, despite us just getting takeaway coffee 😭

The food at the Buttercup is lovely and great value for money, I went with three others, all having different dishes, and we all loved our mains and especially our cakes! Also, we couldn’t fault the service of the staff, they were even courteous enough to inform us there may be increase waits for food due to a larger party being in, amazing service overall.

Lovely cafe, visited on Sunday afternoon for lunch. Extremely busy the entire time we were there but the 3 young staff out front managed admirably, kept smiling and did a great job. Food was delicious, I had the tasting plate which included quiche and club sandwich, my friend had the avocado sourdough. Great menu and tasty selection of cakes and tray bakes for after.

Really nice and cozy place in the main street in Doune. The staff was really nice and friendly and we enjoyed an amazing breakfast!!

Excellent burger and fries. Asked waitress if the burgers were from a local butcher and was advises that they were made in house. Definitely recommend the burger . Partner had steak ciabatta which he said was great.

Fabulous selection of lunchtime foods, cakes and drinks. Table service outside or inside. A vast selection of different types of sandwich made it difficult to decide. I opted for the goats cheese, avocado and pesto sourdough, which was huge and brilliant value. The bowls of chips are brilliant, especially the melted cheese and crispy bacon. I couldn't manage a pudding but they looked impressive.

Will not be going back staff surly, the base of my seat was not screwed down and I nearly had a bad accident when I told the member of staff she shrugged I asked her if she would mind changing it and she moved the same chair to another table ! The people sat at the next table could not believe that she expected someone else to use it. Then when paying our bill my friend was overcharge and when she pointed it out to a different member of staff there was no apology..just a blank stare ..I used to like going there but not now.

Good lunch and moderately priced. Plenty of choice and some delicious looking cakes. Delicious mushroom soup and a tasty toasted panini that was well filled. No complaints at all.

Visited today with family. The food was lovely. The staff on the other hand didn't seem to want to be there. After we arrived for our booking took 30 minutes for our order to be taken. The food was prompt but that was the last we saw of staff. Had to eventually go pay as we were disgusted. We were going to have more drinks and cake but due to inattentive staff decided the smiddy would be better. Tables around us were left with plates for nearly an hour. Really very disappointed

We had a little stop over at this cafe on our way from Fort William to Edinburgh airport and the staff were lovely and friendly. We had coffees, pastries and a sandwich - all very good. The cafe was bright and airy had a peaceful and cosy atmosphere. Lots of locals seemed to be enjoying their breakfast there! Pancakes looked good! Next time hopefully!

EN: A nice café in the middle of Doune with great food. We only had a late lunch with soft drinks, I cannot say anything about coffee drinks, teas or cakes but I would have loved some. Unfortunately we came a bit late, as the café already closes at 4 pm. But we were satisfied with the food (burger, fries, cheddar/cucumber sandwiches + salad and soup of the day, all very good!) and the service. If it was not my only visit in Doune, I would have liked to go there a second time. DE: Ein nettes Café mitten in Doune mit tollem Essen. Wir können aber nichts über das reichhaltige Angebot an süßen Speisen wie Kuchen oder die Kaffeegetränke/Tees sagen, da wir nur spät zu Mittag gegessen hatten. Und leider hatte das Café schon um 16 Uhr geschlossen. Aber mit dem Essen waren wir zufrieden (Burger, Fritten, Cheddar/Gurken-Sandwiches + Salat und Tagessuppe, alles sehr lecker!), ebenso mit dem Service. Wäre es nicht mein einziger Besuch in Doune gewesen, hätt ich mir gerne einen weiteren Café-Besuch gegeben.

Really nice lunch - very tasty and good value with great selection of cakes and tray bakes with coffee to finish. Only observation was inside needing a clean around panelling, skirting’s, doors etc. We were sitting beside a radiator which was VERY dirty along with wall panelling- right beside our table. Great lunch. Place just needs a good clean!

Stopped on our way to Callander. Very pleasant young girl took our order. Really nice sandwich, cake and coffee. Only complaint would be the state of the toilet, could definitely do with a coat of paint and a really good clean.

Here at Selkie we absolutely love this wee cafe in Doune village. Wonderful service, great simple eats and free WiFi. Sit inside or outside and perfect if you're at Doune Castle and need refreshments or something simple to eat.

Busy and popular, deservedly so. Hard-working friendly staff all trying their best to give you a good experience, even under pressure. Not so many places manage to achieve this. We're going again tomorrow for breakfast.

Can’t fault the food, it was the staff. Treated the youngest girl dreadfully, and asked those ordering takeaway to stand outside in a cloudburst. One particularly prickly grey haired woman just seems to hate her job.

Tolles Café mit super Frühstück. Haben spontan einen Ort zum Frühstücken gesucht und sind dabei auf dieses Café getroffen. Das Essen war sehr lecker, wie auch der Kaffee und der Chai Latte. Definitiv zu empfehlen für einen kurzen Besuch.

Lovely trip to this splendid wee cafe today! Helpful staff, 2 delicious soups ans fresh tasty sandwich. Pretty decor with lovely neighbouring shops, Doune Chic. Both well worth a visit. Will definitely be back.

What a LOVELY cafe with such lovely staff, and lovely food, I highly recommend the superfood salad! And lovely children’s choices! Family & dog friendly! I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the lovely waitress who served us today (Tuesday 25th lunchtime) for being so kind when our rescue dog panicked & sprinted off with a chair tied to him… thank you for being so kind & can you please thank the staff at the equally LOVELY florist, we were hoping to find them on Google to leave a 5 star review as they were so so kind and we demolished their plants. They insisted we didn’t pay anything & only cared about our dog. I’ve never known such kindness as I’ve found in Scotland! Thank you from Griffin 🐾 🐾 who is recovering from his shock.

Convenient cafe in Doune. Was a bit light on staff when we visited.

Vi parkerte ved Deanston destilleriet og gikk til Doume castle. Vi tok veien om landsbyen på tilbaketuren. Da var vi småsultne og tok inn på denne hyggelige cafeen. Varm og vennlig service, nydelig mat og god kaffe. Vi vil trekke frem gresskar-suppen med coconut. Fantastisk

Great spot for breakfast in a nice town. The service was great and the food was even better! We found it driving through Doune and we are very glad we stopped.

I last visited here when on holiday in scotland 3 years ago. I returned this week and wasn’t disappointed. Then menu was varied and has moved with the times. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. Well worth a visit

We visited the tea room after a visit to Doune Castle. We had tea and cake. Generous pots of tea and tasty cake - Victoria sandwich and a scone. Nice ambience too

This is the first time I have ever been served my main course before receiving my soup sometime later. To be fair the waitress apologised. Not my best experience I have to say.

We dropped in whilst our car was in the local garage being fixed. We ordered home made lentil soup with a round of freshly made tuna pepper and onion sandwiches.., absolutely delicious. Then we couldn't resist the home made cake display and wow what a treat, real home made baking , our cakes were divine. Definitely will make a point of coming back again. Highly recommend.

Í visited thïs cafe recently was a bít dißpoiñtéd thàt çónßétéry àt the back óf the çafe has nó ramps thís would be hard for whéelchàírs and walkers etc. When busy the staff are not aware of çustomérß waiting but the baking is ñice and hot çhoçîlate is fine

there was an entire toilet roll in the toilet so yah that's a no no for me. plus no tampons? my friend had an accident bc of that. also the side eye I got for asking for a spoon!? I ordered a soup, lady. I should've been given the spoon. they had ran out of vanilla milkshake and they forgot our fries. what an UTTER disgrace. I counted 5 dirty looks from the staff. I think they were racially profiling bc I'm a white Irish. also its too expensive.

Consistently delicious food ! This place a little gem. Constantly used to mediocre cheap pre packed food. This place the produce is debt and food is lovely. Cannot recommend enough !

Honestly, there wasn't a hint of coffee flavour in the Coffee cake. It was very disappointing. I think you should revisit the recipie you use. Despite this feedback we were still charged and that too was disappointing.

Nice atmosphere friendly staff. When my burger was put on the table I could smell it was burnt, when I looked both sides were entirely black. I would not have left a review but for the condescending attitude of the lady I believe was the manger who told me it was not burnt it was char grilled and said do you want me to take it away or do I want to try eating it. I had the tuna and cucumber sandwich, it was very basic but delicious. The service was good and nice staff regarding that their were only 2 staff serving so many people in the café.

We were looking for a cafe and came upon this gem in Doune High Street. Lovely staff. The food was freshly prepared. The soup was excellent with home baked bread. The steak sandwich was equally good. Overall a great experience.
