I noticed The Lade Inn one of the most recent times I went past Callander and immediately caught my attention from the road due the cozy impression the whole place sort of passes on, so I promised myself at one point I would go back to try it out! That time was today and didn't bring a drop of regret! Not only is comprised of the pub with a cozy atmosphere and a generous menu with affordable several dishes to choose from but, a wee ale shop is also part of the whole business and I was mind blown by the quantity of ales/beer and ciders they sell there! I was familiar with some of the ranges/makes but others were new to me so had to buy a full box to try them later on! Also had the smoked salmon with salad and the oat cakes with butter so I'm glad I went to support this wee Scottish business located between lovely Callander and stunning scenery. The fireplace was on by the way so having a meal next to it was just marvelous and the staff are so friendly! I'm going back at one point for sure for more ales and to try more dishes without a shadow of a doubt! Please go, you won't regret it! A wee haven on earth!

Lovely little pub which is caught in time. The menu doesn’t change, and the high quality of their food remains. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, perfect for a chat over drinks and food, with a well tender fire to keep everyone cosy. There is a brewery attached to the pub with local beers, visit the shop attached to the pub and browse the local offering asking for advice from the friendly staff there.

We decided to stay in Calendar for dinner, after spending the day out and about walking. It had been a gorgeous day, but literally 30 seconds before getting back to the car the skies opened up and it was torrential rain. We found the Lade Inn after a quick search on Tripadvisor. It was busy when we arrived, and had a nice cosy atmosphere. Food was excellent and the staff was friendly and chatty. We had a couple of courses before starting our journey back home. Would recommend to anybody visiting the area. I suspect during busy times, it will be beneficial to book in advance.

The location lovely. The staff friendly but so terribly let down by the food. Selected veggie burger meal and Fish and chips. Was asked if vegetarian - said yes. Was advised chips/fries are cooked in same fat as fried chicken and fish!!!! I declined chips was offered boiled potato’s instead - I politely declined This was a red flag to what we were about to eat - basic stuff that chips for vegetarians/ vegans are cooked in same oils as chicken and fish. Veggie burger consisted of two way overcooked horrible tasting patties. Salad accompaniment- all tasted of onion but zero onion in salad making me suspect knife used had been cutting onions. Flavourless untipe tomato’s a bit cucumber and shredded iceberg. No dressing. Coleslaw was wateriest cheapest full of vinegar for flavour. All basic stuff which could easily be improved. Homemade coleslaw even would have been better - it’s cheap to make. My husband took a couple bites of burger as I thought is it me being critical and said it’s horrible. His fish okay. But put off by chips cooked in same fat as chicken and fish too. Tartare sauce had a skin over it as tho been lying out in ramekin for ages or in fridge uncovered. I actually had to bin the burger. They say award winning food and only award on show is dated 2006 - 19 years ago for best informal dining. Says chef worked at The Ritz and Turnberry - if so - it dint transfer re dining experience we had. Such a shame as small things and better quality ingredients could have made this an enjoyable experience. Place dead and I worry if food this poor and it’s their lovelies it going to jeopardise their business. Please change the small things asap to improve things as a veggie McDonalds better than vegetarian meal presented me this evening. You have a lovely Inn and staff but so let down by the food tonigh.

We were greeted and served drinks and food really well and fast to start with but it went rapidly downhill once we had finished our main course. Nobody came to take our plates - or to offer desert - or to offer more drinks. We had to go up front to find someone. He provided us with desert menus, then disappeared and never came back. So we gave up. We had to go up front again to find someone to pay our bill. We will not be returning - nor can we recommend The Lade Inn. Also, there was an unpleasant smell at this restaurant - very odd and unwelcoming.

Really nice restaurant that specialises in with amazing pies and a great neeps and tatties haggis dish. I had locally caught river trout on a previous visit as well and that was also delicious, the age of the building adds to it's charm and it's setting in the woods near the river running from the Loch is quaint. Being regular hikers in the surrounding Trossachs, my husband and I have driven past the Lade Inn innumerable times, and always wished we could stop to try it for a meal or a drink, especially on winter afternoons, when a plum of smoke often issued from its chimney and told us there was a lively warm fire inside. Well, since good things come in pairs, we recently visited the Lade Inn not once but twice. First for a drink on a spring evening, which we enjoyed in the cosy pub area. I instantly liked the unpretentious but very welcoming interior. We were the last two customers and the fire had died out before we arrived (even if other guests were still being served food), so I was a little cold. But the staff was lovely and seeing the food portions made us want to come back for a meal. So a week later we did that, and we were not disappointed. I had the vegetarian burger with cheese and my husband the fish and chips. The fish was flaking away, soft like butter, and very well seasoned. But the vegetarian burger was to die for. Two patties and two slices of cheese!! I am vegetarian and often am served minuscule portions that cost like a regular meal and just depress me. The Lade Inn instead made me feel like a valued customer. The chips were ok, nothing to write home about but good enough. Last but not least, the manager is extremely friendly and helpful, and he is a history buff that will answer any possible questions on Scotland!

Walking in, you're greeted by a festive explosion of Christmas decorations, setting the perfect Scottish holiday mood. To complete the ambience, there's proper Scottish folk music serenading from the speakers. Now, for the food, I opted for the steak pie. The pie itself was a treat; you could taste the ale infused into the sauce, and the portion size was hefty. The meat was tender as a Highland embrace. However, the vegetables and fries left me wanting for more flavor. Price-wise, it was just a tad above the pub average, but the overall experience made it worth every penny. If you find yourself at Loch Lomond's doorstep, The Lade Inn is a warm, welcoming stop for a taste of Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Lovely, atmospheric pub, serving good food and some nice, unusual beers. Well worth a visit - but it is expensive.

We popped in here for a wee drink mid way through our walk. What a great stop !!!!!. Traditional 'old man's ' Scottish pub feel with the open fire burning away, traditional Scottish music in the background and a good selection of Scottish ale's. Staff were amazing, welcoming and friendly. Thank you x

Went in after a munro trip, taken straight to the table by very friendly staff, drinks on thr table in under 2 minutes of arriving, the waitress had a nice conversation with us asking how our day was. Food took about 20 minutes, absaloutly fine, I had fish, massive portions, struggled to finish the chips, freind had steak pie, again very large portion, fish was massive, main meal and 2 pints of Stella was £27, I think that's a fair price compared to some of the places I have eaten close to the lade Inn. We went in with hiking gear on, trousers coverd in dirt, the staff didn't care, some of the other dinners on the other hand gave us funny looks. Side note, to the people reviewing the lade in 1 star, if you are ignorant you will find ignorant, if you want 5 star + food, goto somewhere that's Michelin star, food is fantastic for the money.

Super cute breakkie spot 💓🥯 Loads of options, plenty of veggie stuff too. Big or small bites. They’ll modify the dishes to accommodate any preferences or allergies. Service was super sweet. Thank you xxx
