We visited today for some lunch. The food menu was varied and reasonably priced. The drinks cabinet had only a small selection but we all found something we wanted. The staff member on the till was lovely. There was quite a wait on food but I felt it was worth it as everything was lovely and hot and as far as I could tell it was made to order. We are deducting one star for cutlery not being readily available (it was busy so it was understandable)

Have tried to visit here on three separate occasions and unfortunately still not able to get through the door. Having driven past and seen scones and coffee advertised we stopped but were greeted with a multitude of signs saying it was residents only and you had to call in advance . Driving past a week later we thought we would stop again having seen the sign out the day before. Again we weren’t able to cross the threshold . It’s a shame it’s a nice looking place and it ihas outdoor space that literally in a year I have seen one couple sitting at . I’m not sure what’s going on - perhaps staffing issues but I’m not sure I’ve gone to a stranger place that advertises on a public raid that it has refreshments but then doesn’t let you in

We had the hotel breakfast as we were actually on our way to Cairnryan for the ferry. The breakfast was typical Scottish food served and cooked just fine. The hotel experience was very nice with all staff most helpful. One thing to note is that there is no taxi service on Sunday morning before 8:00 a.m. so if you have an early ferry there is no way to get there without a car. Later in the morning there is a bus service to the port area. The port area is about 15 minutes away by bus.

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back

It's a very cute cafe at Millport and serves tasty panini toasties burgers. The loaded nachos was also pretty good and they were kind e ough to make a vegetarian version for us. The coffee and hot chocolate were a saviour on a rainy cold day in May. We enjoyed our meal at the cafe. The staff was friendly too.

Great food, steak and fish cooked to perfection, served with really good chips. Went for deserts too, which we don’t normally go for, butter tablet ice cream hit the spot.

I've known Machina since its early, rustic days in the former Tollcross venue. Then it evolved into a sleeker operation, and now, in Marchmont, it's at its sleekest. Large, very nicely designed multi-room environment, beautiful varied displays pf coffee equipment, in sum an appealing place to sit in and sip your coffee and perhaps savour one of the nice-looking sweets. What about the coffee itself? It used to be superb. Now, it is still ]good and well-executed, but the blend they served seemed a little more ordinary to me. Maybe cost-control, maybe my tastes have evolved, the fact is that I no longer find the coffee here to be at the same top-top level. But, I repeat, it is certainly very good. Prices are very high. Staff varies: I've met some friendly and competent, others disengaged and not well-informed. There is a policy that regulates the use of laptops - perfectly understandable in view of the tendency of many people to use coffee shops to get a workplace where to stay half a day on the cheap.
